So I am very concerned about the direction we as a society have been going in the last few years and have been trying to form a plan on what do do if it all falls apart. I have watched shows about survivalist before, and while that is really smart of them to plan like that, however people such as myself probably do not have the financial/resources to have a bunker/plan like that. So I as a city dwelling (Minneapolis) person, What would be the best course of action after it all falls apart. Where should i go when i make a mad dash out of the city. I think i know for sure I would want to get below the frost line as to not have to worry about freezing to death, but what else might i do? Are people living in the city screwed when it comes to survival?

Was this thread made after you heard about the news story that Paul wasn't going to win the nomination?

You live in one of the best places. You have the woods. Learn about the plant life. Find out what wild things are safe to eat. Get a portable filter so you can drink any water you come across. You are one of the lucky ones. You just don't know it.

America survived the 1929/30 crash, so why would it not survive the next one? (If it happens) Europe survived the fall of the Roman empire, the black death, more wars than you can shake a stick at, life goes on!

Yeah but they didn't have to contend with another 4 years of Obama!

Ok, from your stand point you want another 4 years of Obama...Correct?.....16 years of America rebuilding back to greatness....Whether or not Obama or Romney wins it is the same...Got you...

America will survive this rough patch. If I,m wrong and there is a breakdown in law and order, anarchy, if you will, Then how would you expect to survive it, and what quality of life would you have, if you did ? Very poor, I suspect.

If everybody " Heads for the hills " then how long are they going to survive ? It would,nt be long before tribes and loyalties would develop, and tribe A would be bashing out the brains of tribe B with sticks and stones, or knives, axes, etc; ( No guns - bullets, cartridges would run out in time..)

Or, ironically, tribes A and B would live in harmony and prosper, and some bright spark would suggest that they need a constitution, and rules and regulations to live by....doh !

Hang on ! Isn't,t that how we started out...?

Everyone is going to have about the same chance as the next person if it came down to survival of the fittest. If you don't know what to do, then you're in that majority. If it's inevitable, why worry about it?

Okay so it took the US unit WW2 to start properlly comming out of the depression with arms manufacturing.
After the roman empire collapsed which took about 100years, erop was dragged into "the dark ages", not an
entirely pleasent phase of human history. oh and the black death, which took out 1/3 of european civilisation
would have taken an extremely long to recover from, but in all of this there are those people who take advantage.
in answer to the original OP i dissagree, with those who say think only about your self. if your going to survive
it's better to have more hands, so people you trust. go camping allot with your friends "socaily", start being obsessed with bush walking. practice and more parctice.

In the late 20's and 30's people we more self relient, knew how to grow food or gut a fish, these skills are lost to many of this generation, also more people are hooked on some kind of substance, I use to drink CAFFINE for god's sake, Quitting that made me feel like I was a smack addict trying to get off the juice (oxi's lol) so imagine a person off pyscotheric/pyscotropic drugs like Lithium? or just your everyday beer drinker getting the shakes? Dangerious thoughts alone

But the real fear is that people in are modern times are not "Content" with basics and will LOOT and STEAL RAPE and ROB just to please themselves.

To survive is simple to share and prosper is hard.

GUNS FOOD SILVER/GOLD and a good plot of land is what you need to survive the rest is common sense.
