I saw a show recently that claimed the Bible (Torah) codes predicted an atomic holocaust in 2006. I belive it may be true as the codes have predicted many modern events such as the assasination of Kennedy and 911. What are your opinions?

that collelates with the book:
Nostradamus - The Final Prophecies by Luciano Sampietro

in which a huge global war takes place between the

Middle East, Russia, old soviet block

vs

American and Europe

It starts with a limited nuclear strike by Russia against the Meditraian Naval fleets and Washington DC (killing the President)

Not really a sorceror, more of a prophet. His predictions were written in a code that nobody fully understands. Because of this his prophecies can be interpreted differently.

So Nostradamus also predicted the end of the world. Is it possible that he knew how to decode the Bible and that is where he got this information from?

As I recall, the Bible Codes also predicted the end of the world in 2000, in 2001, in 2002, in 2003, and in 2004. Now they're predicting them in 2006. In a few years, they'll predict the end of the world in 2012, and then in 2020, and maybe 2032 and so on.

No, he didn't. He did predict something equivalent to WWIII that would start with an invasion by "the king from the East" in August 1999.

That should tell you how accurate his prophecies are.

Is it possible that he knew how to decode the Bible and that is where he got this information from?

No. We can do this because of computers, but it would have taken him several lifetimes to get ahold of the original Hebrew texts, copy them, and then start doing the ELS sequencing.

Didn't someone predict the assasination of Kennedy in Moby Dick?

I seem to remember scientists sayign the Bible Codes is bull since applying the formula they used to any text of considerable length produces virtually the same results. And for Nostradamus, I think that whole 9/11 prediction being written by a college student to show how a vague enough prediction could be aplied to anything says it all. And I've never put much credence in his "end of the world prophecies" since his own propecies extend past all these supposed end of the world scenarios

Nostradamus' quatrains are too hard to decipher even for modern researchers because its not very well understood on how he encoded his predictions. He had to be careful because he didn't want to be burned at the stake for being a witch by the common folk.

It would be next to impossible for Nosradamus to make predictions from the Bible Codes without the aid of a modern computer. Now he could have made simpler predictions by practicing Kabbalah, which is the the method Jews devised for looking for some of the code. But it too is very limited.

This is a quick link to Atomic Holocaust in 2006.

This is the main page of more codes for the curious.

Another person to look up is Mother Shipton. She came before Nostradamus, but wrote most of her stuff in a nice rhyming english.
I don't think she predicted atomic holocausts, but she did predict comet impacts which mirror revelations and some hidden bible codes. Now she on the other hand was burned at the stake.

I'm waiting for two things to happen in the near future, before I decide if the codes are real.

1) George Bush re-election, which would be highly necessary since his name is mentioned in some 2006 codes involving Sharon and Arafat and a possible atomic detonation in Jerusalem.

and

2) the recent find of an incident involving Laura Bush. There is a statistical update link on the page where the researcher crunched the numbers to analyze the probablity of what the codes turned up. I believe the only way for this to not pan out is if the words delayed or postponed are found crossing the code, which would mean somehow things are avoided.

Before the Bible thumpers emerge from the woodwork, and they will, and remember the website is Deny Ignorance which kindly gets forgotten when bible matters are discussed in these forums.

Bible codes rank right up there with UFO's, but instead of US government coverups, you have plenty by the church or church folk trying to maintain their staus quo.

Now this is from Stanton Friedman which applies to UFO's but can be applied to the bible codes as well...

Debunkers seem to employ four major rules:

1)What the public doesn't know, we certainly won't tell them. The largest official USAF UFO study isn't even mentioned in twelve anti-UFO books, though every one of those books' authors was aware of it.

2)Don't bother me with the facts, my mind is made up.

3)If one can't attack the data, attack the people. It is easier.

4)Do one's research by proclamation rather than investigation. It is much easier, and nobody will know the difference anyway.

There are plenty of 2's and 4's cruising these forums so please be aware.
Make a mental note of who said what, because more likely in the future you'll see them on another board spewing their ignorance.

It disturbs me that some moderators of these boards have employed the same tactics. They're here to moderate and enforce board rules, not moderate and enforce their opinions on those wishing to discuss something.

The predictions of Nostradamus are very strange, he only did a very small number, I do not remember well, but something like 3 or 4, that where explicit.
As in many cases of predictions, only after the ocurrence did someone said that there was a prediction related to that, and reading the prediction, after knowing what to search for, it looks like maybe he was talking of that.

P.S.:Can someone please explain to me what are the "Bible Codes"?

A nuclear war is bound to happen, sooner or later. But that does not mean it is predicted in some way. Predictions are so general, they say things like 'a big war' etc. We already had a big war, with 50 million people dead: WWII. Back then, they considered that war as the armageddon.

The Bible codes are encoded words in the Bible that are decoded using Equal Letter Skips. The words are often too close together to be chance. Such as when it says Kennedy, close to it is: he shall die, Dallas, In car.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

if anyone can provide a link to the bible code, that'd be nice... i'd love to read on it.. anyways that nostradaus guy is a fraud... some of his predictions are too broad

I believe that you're wanting something like exodus2006.com... . They love the Bible codes there. I'm not saying that they aren't true, but there's enough predictions in the Bible for me to worry about without jumping into this stuff. It's pretty interesting to read about though. Dive in.

EDIT: I see that CAPT PROTON already had this covered.

In my opinion the bible code is not prophetic. Its also been shown that any large text will have hidden things encoded in a similar manner.

I find it hard to believe that we would team up with FRANCE
and GERMANY to go against our partner in Iraq - POLAND.

But ... I suppose that things could change.

You recall wrong. I got the bible code book in 1997, and the possible date it mentions, is 2006.

I personally feel there is going to be a third world war, involving WMDS. This is also corroborated by Billy Meier, prophecies of Henoch. As things are happening today, it does not seem unlikely at all. I am not a bible code believer by the way.
