Chinese Media Issues Warning on US Military Shift

You know what I find funny about this thread. (China's statement too, but mostly the posters).

The United States has two (count them 2) coasts. East and West. 3 if you count the gulf of mexico. And out trade routes in and out of the country are pretty equally divided between them, (more probably comes into the Pacifc actually).

The US can put as much of it's Naval Forces on any coast it wants. Pacific is receiveing more strategic importance due to the trade and economics (including China)

Why.

1) most of our trade is out of the pacific rim.
2) Its a much larger ocean, and will require more naval presence to patrol effectively
3) China itself is builidng it's navy up. It stands to reason you would want parity
4) Most of our navy was concerned with the Atlantic, because of the Soviet/Russian Northern Fleet. that is a fraction of the threat that it was. It' is logical to move forces to the Pacific
5) Allies like S. Korea and Japan still face the NK threat.
6) India is becoming a major player economically and navally.


It doens't mean we are planning for war with China.

Not a hot war a cold one.We are hedging our strategic bets.They got that cash from Hong Kong and they are riding out for all it's worth. Just pieces on a board for now.

The whole...CONTAIN CHINA SCREAM....was from group of Lobbyists that represent Large Naval Ship Building Corps. China is not a threat to the U.S. What made things worse is when China purchased that piece of S#!% Old Soviet Era Design Carrier which they PROUDLY POSITION THOUSANDS OF SAILORS...just like the U.S. Carriers do by tradition...along the length of the Carriers decks as the Carrier leaves or comes back into port.

If you add on another Nimitz Class Carrier Group...the two Carriers become the #3 Most Powerful Military.

If you add on a total of 4 Nimitz Group Carrier Groups...it becomes the #2 Most Powerful Military in the World behind the United States.

A SINGLE NIMITZ CLASS CARRIER GROUP...even without the FEL installed...and just carrying it's standard Ordinance of both NUCLEAR and CONVENTIONAL as well as the Aegis Cruisers that carry the new updated SM-3 ABM as well as Satellite Killers as well as a Top Secret Number of both Attack Subs as well as Boomers....a single OHIO CLASS Sub with the TRIDENT II D-5 Nuclear MIRVED MISSILE SYSTEM can carry as many as 12 Nuclear Warheads or MIRV"s per missile and each Ohio Class Sub carries 24 Missiles. Nuclear power is a tool. It has no morality attached to it; it is completely neutral in every way.

Is a gun "evil"? Is a screwdriver "evil"? Is a car "evil"? No, of course not. Neither is nuclear energy. What is evil, is the person behind gun who fires it and murders. What is evil is the person who files down the screwdriver and stabs another with it. Etc.

Tools are tools... they are not good nor evil.

I am not directly disputing the idea a Nimitz class Battle Group is the 4th most powerful military in the world, but I'd like to know where you got that.

I say that for a couple of reasons. The Ohio class subs don't typically belong to the CBG. Usually only 1 maybe 2 attack subs are attached. Taking the Ohio out reduces the firepower (nuclear especially) greatly.

I would say the militaries of France, Germany, the UK, S. Korea, possibly India and even Japan could take on a CBG. They are all allies, but still could stand up to it.

This is the reality...without U.S. Carrier Groups positioned all over the Globe...there would be anarchy on the High Seas. An example of this can be seen off the Coast of Somalia or other areas around Africa where the acts of Small High Speed Boats and Pirates have taken Ships from all Nations hostage as a way to gain ransom.

This type of rescue actions have been performed by the U.S. Navy but this is OVER KILL and the African Nations should be able to form a force to deal with this problem. Granted...they are not at the skill level of a group of U.S. Navy Seals but the U.S. Navy is an immensely powerful force that should not be playing Police Man when other countries....ESPECIALLY EUROPEAN COUNTRIES...tend to pay the ransom which only emboldens the Pirates to abduct more Ships and Crew.

This not only is a Bad way to handle this but it PISSES THE U.S. MILITARY OFF TO NO END. Some people actually complained when a Navy Sniper shot and killed three pirates.

U.S. Navy Seal sharpshooters brought a five-day hostage standoff to an abrupt end Sunday with a hail of bullets that killed three pirates holding the captain of an American-flagged cargo ship. Navy officers aboard the USS Bainbridge were in the midst of a drawn-out hostage negotiation when Navy snipers saw one of the pirates aim his AK-47 machine gun at Capt. Richard Phillips's back and concluded the American was in "imminent danger," said Vice Adm. William E. Gortney, commander of naval forces in the Middle East. For those of you out there that read that...I did not ask the question...So why wasn't the U.S. Navy there to prevent the Hijacking?

I will provide an answer anyways....BECAUSE MASSIVE NUCLEAR POWERED U.S. AIRCRAFT CARRIERS THAT COST MULTIPLE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS EACH AS WELL AS NUMEROUS ACCOMPANYING SURFACE SHIPS THAT ARE PART OF A CARRIER GROUP AND THE NUMEROUS NUCLEAR POWERED AND ARMED USN SUBMARINES which if you added all the costs of these systems...ESPECIALLY NOW....with every Carrier and Aegis Cruiser undergoing a refit to install another or THIRD NUCLEAR REACTOR aboard every U.S. Carrier and a NUCLEAR REACTOR installed on every Aegis Cruiser to power the NEW FREE ELECTRON LASER SYSTEM as well as all Aegis Cruisers have already been installed with the NEW VERSION of the SM-3 Missile which currently and until the Full FEL...Free Electron Laser System is installed....is the VANGUARD ANTI-BALLISTIC MISSILE SYSTEM that is RIGHT NOW the worlds only capable ICBM KILLER or SATELLITE KILLER.......and lets not even talk about Each Carrier Groups Nuclear Weapons capability....and if you added up the cost of just ONE CARRIER GROUP it would probably top $100 BILLION....

In a REAL WAR scenario....a Carrier Battle Group is going to be joined by a BOOMER for several reasons. One of these reasons is that in a true attack scenario....all these Surface Ships noise will make it extremely difficult for any attack sub to pinpoint where a OHIO Class Sub is.

Also...if by some chance a BOOMER is located and an Anti-Sub Aircraft is closing...an Aegis SM-3 Missile will be able to protect it from a Great Distance.

The Military Capabilities of the other countries you list is no where near as capable as a U.S.N. Carrier Group with a Boomer in the location. The Carrier alone carries more Gravity Drop Nukes than most of these countries Combined. Split Infinity
