The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) established 6 national drone test sites where the unmanned planes could fly through civilian air space.
President Obama signed the FAA Modernization and Reform Act in February of this year, demanding that the FAA “integrate operation of drones” into National Airspace by 2015.

Although only 4 were planned, six came into being thanks to lobbying from certain US Senators.

Over 63 locations were authorized launch sites after the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) obtained the same data through a Freedom of Information Act request.

The EFF put together a map to show where those areas were.

These locations, near 20 across several states, were granted drone operation rights by the FAA. Those benefiting from this action are the US military, Border and Customs Patrol, NASA and the FBI

This is just the beginning. Drones will be flying around surveilling you and gathering private information, all illegaly and against the constitution. Here is a video about it:

What scares me the most about that last statement, was that he deflected the question and payed NO attention to the issue of civilian deaths, instead he tried to justify it by saying they are only 'protecting america'. So in otherwords, it doesn't matter what the civilian deaths are, as long as you kill some terrorists! Collateral damage? Who cares about collateral damage?!
They will use these drones as a way to surveil american citizens, use them as counter-terror units within america and there will be invasion of privacy, abuse and collateral damage. It's crazy to think how much freedom Americans have lost for security. The liberties that are given up and the personal violations that are allowed are completely against what the USA was founded on! They are getting lots of practice in the ME and now all that knowledge is arriving soon, in a city/town/area just like yours, BEWARE!

This is the one thing that is really concerning. I like to read about internment camps, FEMA plots, etc. more as interesting gossip. But THIS. Is one of the least talked about huge issues. I'm not scared of being targeted by drones or anything like that. Just being spied on, most people don't understand how advanced these drones are. They can stay in hover for 24 hours cover huge swathes of land, like 1-2 drones (predator style) per county. Also, the cameras on drones aren't that fuzzy bank robbery crap, no, these drones can tell you heads or tails on a dime from 30,000 feet. Not to mention there infrared, thermals, etc. make MW3 and such look like the video games they are.

So picture it. Every single move: night or day, country, suburbs, urban doesn't matter, all of every square inch of the country. Why would they need to intern anybody or round people up like is said on here? They already know everything...

The Dronespotters site reminded me that the British dealt with drones almost 70 years ago when the Nazis were launching V1 Buzzbombs at London. Small wonder we don't hear a peep over there about drone use - just in the US.

They know they have to rush these things in to operation before public backlash turns on them.

This is a public airport in Hancock county. In the local paper last wednesday the port and harbor commission asked for bids for consulting services to assist in securing an UNMANNED aerial vehicle auth. This is next to the Stennis space center. After making a few phone calls I have learned that this is being pushed by the fed to have this implemented. A lot of people live in the vicinity of the buffer zone around Stennis myself included. I have had several conversations with friends and neighbors and all feel this is in violation of our 1st and 4th Amendments. This not the middle east,this is America. I would appricate any discussion or thoughts on this matter, either on line or contact me at 228 ***-**** , myself and folks here would appricate any help that could be rendered by calling our ms congressman and senators in getting this shut down.

I use to live south of this airport and most of its traffic is military in nature ( training touch and go's ect... ) It is also interesting to note that BP corexit spraying operations were launched out of this airport.

I would hate to live near the ends of the runway when they start flying drones.... All the rednecks in the area will try to shoot them down

As far as the map says, the blue ones are expired permits, although they could be reactivated at anytime. Also, it appears that more and more permits are being given out (see article) around the country. They will have to issue planty of these permits to allow for the 30,000 plus drones that will be flying around soon.

*Also, it should be noted that there is an authorized permiot issued in Alaska as well, I just cut it out of the pic cause it would have made it too big**

I don't get it...Why haven't they been using the drones on the border. Use them on illegals.

I don't have nothing to hide though I do deserve my freedom and privacy and by using these drones I feel my freedom and privacy is lost.

The Customs and Border patrol are already using 9 drones at the moment, to 'track illegals and drug smuggling' or so they say.
Using drones for this makes sense, it is easier to cover a lot of ground, it is safer than sending out manned patrols that could be ambushed,etc. HOWEVER, they still need to have a warrant to go over your house and surveil the area.. just sayin'

Brilliant idea, shoot down a large UAV over civilian space .. not like that could be at all dangerous for anyone on the ground .. these things are not as tiny as you might think, one of these crashing into someone's living room could really ruin someone's day.. or end their lives.. imagine if one landed in a playground, or a school.. a daycare

9 - Suspected terrorist is hiding in big building
10 - 19 hellfire missiles are fired into building to take out suspected terrorist

nude yoga? back in the early 70's, guys used that tactic to get chicks, only worked briefly, because too many fat, dorky guys tried it. scared the (supposedly) gullible chicks away. guys get devious that way, all for a little you know what. and us guys were too stupid to realize that girls knew what they were doing all along.

They will be used to intervene at somepoint with some 'critical' domestic crime, there will be collateral damage and then it will be justified for use after the precedent is set. Anyone complaining that their daughter or neighboor has been killed in a drone strike will be deemed un-american because 'why wouldn;t you want drones to keep you safe'??
Who cares about a little collateral damage?! America will be safe from threats, and your liberties including the right to privacy will be waved
