This is becoming all too frequent.
In a busy place full of people just minding their own business.
Criminals and their like are pushing the envelope.
Of course everyone in the mall was helpless to this criminal, who is still on the run with a subway system and surrounding downtown district to fall back on.

Criminals don't understand who they could hurt or even care.

From facebook, public domain;

"Stephen-
In Toronto for our Anniversary decide to go to Eaton Centre to shop and we find ourselves in a shooting spree
Back at hotel having a drink
Happy Anniversary honey lol"

"Bonnie-
People pray for Curtis!! There was a shooting in Toronto by the food court where he was at the time. It happened right behind him. He didn't see but it was so close his ears are ringing! This is not what a mother wants to hear!!! It happened 10 minutes from where he lives. The shooter is still out there. Oh dear Lord protect my son!!!"

The scum of the Earth always like to harm the innocent. Should be strung up by his thumbs and let at by the families involved. Like old Chechnya law.

Hope they catch this criminal before he does
something else. Some folks will never be
the same if caught up in a shooting spree or
worse yet - get shot. Any word on the victim
taken away in ambulance?

My friends were there - decided at the last minute not to eat at the food court (shooting location) just before it started. They watched this guy get shot. Pic from her phone here.

Update

Against all our hopes, someone has now died. 7 injured. 2 critical condition.

Crime is actually down in most Cities especially since the late 80's and 90's. Things were way worse back then but I guess continuing to post each and every shooting that takes place around the World makes it seem that things are more violent now a days.

Back in my day, Gangsters didn't wear Skin Tight jeans because they had to hide there GUN.

Big buckets of BUMMER.
It is too bad there were not any armed citizens there to protect the general population.
Toronto ehh?
I thought there was gun control up there?

I have a friend who is talking to a witness, plus 3 friends who fled from the shooting and luckily made decisions not to eat at the food court that night, amazingly. Update will be forthcoming. 1 person has died, 7 injured/in hospital, 2 of which are critical.

It only takes one ( possibly illegal ) gun.
Torontoans in general are not used to this kind of thing. Their country has been relatively "safe" in public areas compared to the US. I've been in this very mall right in the heart of the city many times, and it's a huge multi-level shopping mecca, crowded with both tourists and residents on weekend afternoons especially.
I hope the shooter is found and due process ensues. And that no one else dies.

I know this happened in Canada, but this is exactly why people carry firearms to the grocery store. The other thread about the cop who shot the gentleman who was legally carrying a concealed firearm should take note of this instance where he would have been able to defend himself. So sad that the people in this instance were unable to defend themselves.

According to Const. Victor Kwong, the interior search of the mall has ended and the shooter is still at-large.

CP24 News

Const. Victor Kwong of the Toronto police said that one victim was pronounced dead at the downtown shopping mall. Two more are in critical condition and another has "life-threatening" injuries.

It is not yet clear whether all the injuries resulted from the gun shots.

CBC News

Note: the non-gun shot related wounds are estimated to be from the melee of those fleeing the scene. Please keep this life threatening situation in mind when faced with a critical situation like this, one and all. I didn't think that trampling like this still happened, but what a terrible reason to lose a life! I am so, so saddened right now.

I can't be with my friends to soothe them, who were witnesses to this (see picture above to get an idea of how close). I just moved away from the city recently and am both relieved and torn.

Agreed, and this only proves that guns can be gotten.
There have been guns confiscated from prison inmates, if I can get one there, I'll get one anywhere.
Gun control never works, but if there was a person there to protect the innocents, this could have turned out differently.

Google Jane Creba. RIP. I will let the facts of that case and this case state my point.

WHY are rampaging killers adding to the death toll?
