So recently lost virtually everything in my life.
I have no job, no car, no money, no partner, and plenty of time!
I want to do something to benefit people around me, do something good and make an impact....

Any ideas?

Smile first.

Then you'll know the answer, as quiet as it may sound.

Just some quick, possibly not well thought out responses:

Soup kitchens
Cleaning up public areas
Helping old/fragile members of your community with household chores

Do what you feel is right. It's as simple as that.

Whatever you can. You see liter, clean it up. You see someone of the boards tense, try to crack a joke. Lighten up their day. Do what you can. It doesn't always work. Work doesn't always equal success. But effort, the attempt to try to do better in someone else's life does. Whether it is instantly realized or not. Just be a good person, you know what that means, and it will have impact, even if it isn't immediate.

My humble two cents.

Take things one step at a time. I know what it is like to just drift around, there are still a lot of good people around that could do with a hand. Listen to your intuition and instincts and enjoy it while you can. Safe travels.

I felt the lost once, until I found out about God's plan for us. God's plan for us is to dispense himself in us. It's Gods economy. Us humans are tripartite and are made with three parts like God because he has three parts. Man is made with a body, soul, and spirit. God is the father, son, and Holy Spirit. We have to contact God on a daily basis in order to feed our spirit, before we do this we have to pray that Jesus is lord. Romans 10:9 "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved". When you do this you will receive the spirit and if you are willing to cooperate you will be guided by the spirit if you really want true peace on earth and eternal salvation! As long as you are willing to declare Jesus is lord and try to pursue the truth; Philippians 1:6 "For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus".

you, my young friend are terminal.
the essence of what is wrong around the world with youth.
you want what?
get off the net and especially ATS and find who you are and what you want from life. trust an old guy, it ain't aliens
Are you the product of a single parent home?
Drop out of high school?
use drugs? Don't answer this one, against T&C this site
been beaten up during you're "academic" career?
feel misunderstood
seem to know things that only a person with your experience will know
I got you some answers, junior.
you are just as screwed up as the rest of us. get over yourself, hold your head high and duck and cover.
If nobody else does, we love you and we understand.
We all (almost) here at ATS, and I speak for what I see, not as a rep of this web-site, are looking for the next, .... something.
So are you.
Keep looking my friend, let us all know what you find.

Been there... i was in the same situation two years ago

Look for a government program that will get you back into school...

And get into Health care...

There is always a need for it, its recession proof... and its admireable work, with huge rewards

Good luck my friend

There are plenty of old folk with no one who just want a little human company (the workers sometimes just do not have the time for them, not their fault the fault of the work ).
You will get a load out of it, it is very rewarding to help these folk by just talking and listening to them.
Plus they have great tales to tell.
Good luck anyhow OP.

Volunteer. I've been volunteering for a couple of years inbetween my recurring illness. I do a couple of days at charity for young homeless people. Has been a big eye opener for this middle class boy, born on the right side of the tracks.
I have been able to get a small music production course to be run at the centre, which has been amazing, helped build a garden and work on various other community projects.

I understand that its not easy for most people to volunteer their services if they have a full time job, but if your not working, find somewhere you can be a helpful volunteer.

I do it for myself, to keep me involved. Made some great friends too.
