Wonder if it had a tri-foil symbol on it?

That symbol was first used in 1946...so it seems doubtful.

1000 pounds of lead ?

That's very very little in terms of volume.

Maybe it was a vintner buried in his own wine cask?

This may be my crazy mind wondering off but... What if this "coffin" was used to trap something horrible? My first thought was "wouldn't it be crazy if there was an outbreak of some kind of virus or bacteria back then that created a zombie like affect that we are seeing today"? Then I thought to myself that back then quite often bodies of infected were burned, not buried. Then yet another thought came across my mind. What if that did happened and they saved just one corpse. Why? Think about it, the roman empire and a lot of other civilizations at the time were at war at one point or another. What better weapon to release on your enemy? We did this to the Native Americans with infected blankets and such. Anyway this was just a stoner thought I had while on the toilet today. Am I crazy?

Then I guess you wouldn't object to being the first to open the sucker up.

Apologies if it is in fact a he, just wanted t point it out incase.

Pretty sure you are incorrect. Nikola is a males name at least. Sometimes men are named Jan in the US.

I would assume they know by now what was inside, same as they know what was in the Pyramid shaft and many other things we are never told.

There have been lead coffin burials before.

Roman Lead Coffins Found in London
Accidental reburial by thirteenth century looters may be what preserved an AD400 Roman stone sarcophagus found to contain a lead coffin in London in 1999. It formed one of four high status burials in a line.

The Gabii Roman sarcophagus will be taken to the American Academy in Rome for elaborate and forensic examination before attempts are made to open it. Unlike the London coffin, it is too closely wrapped around the body to be opened without causing probable serious damage to it and any grave goods within.

I guess there are other lead burials. USA ones.

"The child's remarkably well-preserved remains were found yesterday in the first of three lead coffins to be opened this week in this Colonial capital. The child appeared to have been perhaps a year old at its death."
In 1992, archaeologists opened a narrow, lead-covered coffin to find well-preserved remains of a woman strewn with rosemary sprigs. Her coffin lay between a larger lead coffin holding the remains of a man, and a small lead coffin, holding the remains of an infant.

I imagine once President Lincoln is exhumed in the far future, they will wonder the same thing. His grave was violated enough times, that they feared for his body. So they reburied him some 10 feet down, and poured I don't know how many tons of concrete over the coffin. I imagine in the future, conspiracy boards will wonder what the heck is in that grave.

There's something very vague I 'think' I remember hearing and it DID have to do with radioactive something or other. Wasn't this found in Britain or in that area? Man I'm racking my mind on that one. I'm sure it'll come to me, but I do remember something about it. I want to say it was a plot for a Sherlock Holmes movie, or a ? movie? or for REAL, and that the natural landscape had a Gem or element or geological anomaly........ mmmmm... a mineral I think, that was valuable? but in this instance it was radioactive and people kept dying, so the Elders gathered it and buried it in a lead vault/coffin. How they knew to use lead, I don't remember.

Someone else out there, do you remember something along those lines? It comes to mind that it sparked my memory when I saw it, but I think it was 4-5 years ago....

Crazy, no. Though you may want to cut down on the caffine.
It is such a wonder what those who came before us have done. So many things we can learn from them. I truely love the mysteries like this one.

This is my first time hearing about this....But I've got a wild idea. What if it's the ark of the covenant. Ancient Aliens (yes the tv show) once suggested that the ark of the covenant was potentially some sort of radioactive energy generator. What if it's the ark encased in lead? Even though lead is extremely heavy I wonder at the weight of the thing. I know it's a pretty far out idea...but if you found the ark would you report it to everyone or would no one hear from your story again for various secretive reasons?

Just maybe an alchemist conned some of the elite that he could turn their lead into gold but needed a bunch of money up front. He failed. They were pissed. And buried him in his smoldering vat of lead. It cooled into the shape of a burrito.

If there was all this info in the begenning and now there is nothing on what was in it , you can bet there was some sort of "truth" "THEY" don't want the common citizen of the world to know

I can only imagine the truth's that have been stowed away that common folks will never know, this is how humans work, secrets give them power, they don't give a damn about the truth, sad!
