I disagree with the Judge in this instance, to be honest.

At the age he was when the rape occurred, he was certainly old enough to know right from wrong - so whether he felt the urge or not, he knew it was wrong and did it anyway.

It annoys me when people try and justify things with this kind of nonsense. Simple right and wrong. My toddler knows she shouldn't hit people. How can a child that is over 7 years older try and justify that they didn't know what they were doing is wrong?

And if they really didn't know it was wrong, then the f***wit parents that raised him should be jailed too. Or culled from society.

So what are you suggesting??
Decrease the age of consent to nine years??

No not nine you sicko.
Probably like 12 or 14 in my opinion. For instance the age of consent in Japan is 13 years old, however it does vary with local jurisdictions. Or a more sensible option might be to add a law which is more flexible regarding near-age relationships, instead of just labeling them criminals for acting on their natural human desires.
So you think that early sex experiences doesn't affect our future lives???
I am not criminalizing the boy but you can see that the logic he used wasn't right and that's called decision making.
Thanks for the title of sicko but no thanks.
That is yours...

I think that criminalizing and demonizing early sex experiences effects their future lives dramatically. It makes them to be ashamed of their bodies and teaches them to hide their natural feelings as if they were evil desires put there by the devil.

I am not criminalizing the boy but you can see that the logic he used wasn't right and that's called decision making.

And I am not defending the boy, if he did force her then it's absolutely wrong. And yes his logic wasn't right but it makes no difference. Many people partake in sexual activity's based on faulty logic (especially when drunk
).

I was kidding around with you to lighten the mood, no need to get all snippy and start slinging insults.

EDIT: here's a thread which I suggest you take a look at: Kids, Sex and the State

Interestingly in this link it says they did not have "full sex": www.thescottishsun.co.uk...

Not sure it matters because it's still wrong, but all these posed models of white boys in the articles is something the media usually uses when they don't want to offend or stereotype a "non-white" community, although it's hard to tell.

Perhaps it should not matter, but I'm sure the whole story might change for some if it turned out to be a boy from a Muslim culture, and then porn would quickly recede as a central issue.

Wrong is wrong ... it's just a strange presentation in the articles.

So according to your logic, your toddler could be sent to prison?

No, just knowing right from wrong is not enough. Children have undeveloped nervous systems, they tend to be impulsive and do not see the consequences of their actions properly.

Children cannot enter contracts, consent to sex, use drugs, vote, fight a war and many other things. But with less privileges come less responsibilities, too. They are not fully responsible for their actions. You cannot have it only one way.

I am sorry but i simply do not agree with you. The child in question is a threat to members of the public if he thinks rape is ok because he had an urge to feel like an adult.

Trying to justify it is simply ridiculous and an insult to the victim in all of this.

I am not saying the kid needs to be written off or anything like that - he is young and can be worked with / rehabilitated, etc. However, his actions (on a whim) had severe consequences for someone else. That needs punishing.

To try and say "it wasn't his fault, he watched porn" is to attempt to remove any responsibility on his part for his actions.

Now... when I was 12.. I watched me some porn, I remember so vividly how I desperately searched the interwebs for "naked pics of Britney Spears" You know what I found? Viruses that caused my parents to cough up $150 in repairs, thus my price was a vicious spanking that I wouldn't forget lol, my was so pissed she threw coca-cola in my face..

Unless these parents had top-notch security software, this kid should have gotten at least one virus that would have given the parents a heads up..

Your thread will be very unpopular with liberals who cant stand restraint, especially not sexual restraint.

I won't say you're necessarily wrong, but one only needs to go on sites that update "cult news" or various religious conservative shenanigans to find out that they have the most lack of restraint, in complete variance to what they advertise.

In fact, one could just read the Old Testament, where it's quite legal to rape a virgin, pay a fine and take her as an additional wife, and there's no age of consent either. (Deuteronomy 22:28)

Perhaps there's no difference, except that liberals are more open in what they do.

Raping someone is not normal... He, as well as his parents should be responsible for this. I believe the child should be counseled and the parents should face charges on some sort of neglect.

EDIT:@boncho he was 12, thats around the time where people can make most decisions for themselves.

Correction, my apologies, he was 12.

Still something wrong with the family unit for him to do something like this. Possibly even more so if he was that old.

Trying to find out more apart from the standard articles, and posed pictures of always white male models.
If the topic is neutral then why does the press not depict it that way, with a range of models?

I stumbled across a practice known as "grooming" where underage white girls are lured into contact with Asian/Muslim men ranging from 22-59 years of age, in one successful prosecution.
www.heraldscotland.com...

Now a boy from such a household would be influenced by such male behavior, and not only porn.
I want to see pictures of both families before we can believe it was only porn.
They are hiding something.

While I agree there may be times when the parent could have been more responsible, parents aren't to blame for all the actions of their children. Children are not robots, they have a mind and are capable of hiding their intentions from their parents. Thus a child might go off and do something horrible without much indication given by the child beforehand. This is not to say that there might not be warning signs; however, blaming a parent for not seeing a warning sign is left open to interpretation. Parents are not experts on psychology.

Mr Templeton said that, in a statement, the girl’s mother had expressed the view that she would like the boy to get help. Read more: www.thescottishsun.co.uk...
well from your source it seems the mother of the girl wants the boy to get help not jail so that probably had to do with the decision by the judge.

The boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, had earlier admitted statutory offences of rape Read more: www.thescottishsun.co.uk...

and as stated by another member already it was statutory due to age so i don't think it was full on sex ust some from of inappropriate touching so i think these reasons are why harsher penalties wernt asked for or given by the judge

When I was 12, there were plenty of boys in my grade(who probably watched some form of porn) tired to get us girls to do "stuff" with them but none of them tired to rape anybody.

12 may be young but you know right and wrong. You can't justify a rape by saying you wanted to feel grown up. If he has the mindset for rape at 12 it will always be there no matter what he watches online. What's he going to say next time when he is grown up?
