just came across this article this morn.
this issue has been going on for a bit now here in canada, and it seems our govt. is following in the footsteps of the U.S.

Saturday is the one month anniversary of the introduction of the so-called omnibus budget bill, a 425-page bill that amends 60 different acts, repeals a half dozen others and adds three more. In addition to the changes to employment insurance, Bill C-38 includes controversial changes to old age security, more than 100 pages of new provisions to environmental regulations, an important alteration to the oversight of CSIS and significant amendments in laws related to fisheries, food safety, national parks and natural resource projects.

exactly what we need, more amendments, more laws, more bigbrother telling us whats best!

While Canadians haven't hit the streets en masse yet, they are showing their dislike for the bill even one month later. On June 4, 13,000 website owners across Canada, including the NDP, PSAC and even Margaret Atwood, will be darkening their websites in protest of Bill C-38 as part of the 'Black Out Speak Out' campaign.

even the church is against this bill!

well it seems some people are speaking out - thats a start!

"In the last 12 months I have seen clearly the rise of tyrannical policies and the application of such mind and state control that the people of Canada , unless they soon react, will find themselves not only slaves to a corporate and political domination they never chose but they will experience the extinguishing of any of the hopes and dreams that they once had for a nation firmly based upon the foundations of compassion, justice and peace," he wrote.

All that needs to happen is for the red square revolt to latch onto this and spread it across canada.
Its already starting, Toronto is now going to be holding rallies ('casseroles: banging pots and pans as symbolism for their dislike of draconian law )

And they are springing up all over canada,

We need to fight this bill, and it will be fought. Sorry, but the people make the decisions here Harper, Not you. He wants to privatize our water, he has all but destroyed environmental science in canada, He's wasted our money on stupid # for the last time. We will get ours.

Note: I said several months ago (during the beginning of the occupy movement), that nothing will happen really until Canada loses its cool. And Canada is losing its cool. People are tired of this charade and having these laws forced down our throats. I didn't vote for harper. Neither did anyone i know, or anyone they knew.

The cons have been accused of voter suppression as well, why are these laws still being passed?!, the legitimacy of his government is in question, and yet laws can still be passed that are opposite to the interests of all canadians? Its like a giant circus.

i totally agree! when the people of one of the most peaceful, passive country on the planet start getting mad,get out the damn way! we`ve been too nice for too long,we will be like the docile circus elephant that gets sick and tired of being abused for the amusement of its ``owners`` and goes on a bloody rampage!
Quebec is only the beginning! watch the east coast next, then ontario and B.C!!!

I am from the east coast.
I cannot wait for it to blow here.
If i hear pots and pans at 8pm on the 30th, im going to be out on the streets too.
,
The east coast has been getting shafted for too long, NSP has screwed us over for too long. The government has been ignoring us, that is a mistake.

I feel as though there is nothing here in Nova Scotia for people to get mad over, at least nothing that is as plain as day. Im very mad, because i see the bigger picture, not just Canada. But thats only me. The occupy movement failed here, i just hope that this movement will take hold and we'll get some change. I want democracy. Fairness. Accountability and Transparency. Things that Harper promised but never came. Thats why i didn't vote for him. No one i know did.

ha! canada day is quickly approaching. THAT would be a fitting date to take our country back, wouldn`t it!

i`m thinking about handing out flyers with the main points about the bad stuff in this bill on this friday, with the actual govt. web site on it so the people can educate themselves. its a start!
face book,ATS,and several other forums will also be used to get the info out there.
canadians are a funny lot! if the info isn`t right in front of their face, they pretend it doesn`t exist!

we need a few lessons from egypt, and greece! (get mad!:mad

all we can do is force the lies the govt. is telling them down their throught so they understand, and get mad as well!

``im a human being god damn it,and i`m as mad as hell, and i`m not going to take it any more!!!``
--- quote from the movie Network!

And some lessons from Iceland! Iceland i think is the country we need to follow in. They did it right

And yes, Canadians are really funny with information. Its not their fault, our political system has sucked the will out of the people so they no longer care about it and just ignore it and hope it goes away.

Me and a few others in NS here are starting a plan now, going to be setting up a FB page, Twitter account. One of us is a graphic designer so some posters are going to be coming and we have plenty of feet to get the posters out there. Considering making a pamphlet as well.

The only problem i have is with actually being in the frontlines. I do not like police. And i do not like being touched in a threatening manner. Those two things do not add up for me. *aka: i would go ballistic*. And the time to go ballistic on the government is currently not here, but soon

We will make sure to do that, We gotta figure out a lot of stuff first but its going to be fun! Hehe. This summer is going to be it. The summer of love all over again. The time has come, and this crap needs to be dealt with. With peace hopefully. I have a feeling we'll have to drag Harper out of office by force though, or let the RCMP do it when they start shifting their allegience to the people

I knew ,I think it was 08 when a man by the name of Marc Dumais did while acting as a General in the Canadian Armed Forces sign an agreement allowing for foreign armed soldiers to be used in Canada against Canadians, and, that this agreement was signed in conspiracy with Stephen Harper, a man playing the role of Premier of Canada, and, that Section 46 of the Criminal Code of Canada states that every one who commits treason if amongst other things, they levee war against Canada or do any act preparatory thereto; or without lawful authority, communicates or makes available to an agent of a state other than Canada, military or scientific information or any sketch, plan, model, article, note or document of a military or scientific character that he knows or ought to know may be used by that state for a purpose prejudicial to the safety or defense of Canada, and, that the agreement they entered into was done in secrecy and without public input or discussion and in contravention of Section 46 of the Criminal Code of Canada. I knew it wasn't the Canada I was born in. Since then 5 years of Bill C- this and Bill C- that. Not just treason but high treason. WE have a lot of friends around this planet and I don't see the justification of the agreement.www.globalresearch.ca... see here for details. and here www.northcom.mil... I am not sure how I am going to feel about American soldiers patrolling Canadian streets in times of civil strife. That's around the corner we all know it. 700 arrested in Montreal in one night! 250,000 on the streets telling the Quebec government !@#$%U and that law. Harper has sold us out hardcore and everyday more sell outs. I don't remember historically there ever being a peaceful revolution that succeeded. SH!TSTORM is on the horizon. Where the hell is John Connor when you need him?

i agree about the failure of peaceful protest --- it doesnt work! too many peaceful leaders have been locked up or murdered! (dali lamma, Dr. king, gahndi, john lennon, bob marley,etc....)
ive been unemployed for 6 months and can`t even find a job with a temp agency! only got 5 months of E.I.!!!
before that i worked for 15 years straight!

try to live on $10:50 an hour!!!!! bill c-38 will make it if you refuse a lower paying job, they can refuse to give you E.I.,even though you have paid into it for x amount of years!
having said that,i`m so broke i will take any job for any pay at this point.
i have sacrificed A LOT lately, stuff for my kids, child support(my ex is understanding),medication,cigarettes,alcohol,t.v..... the list goes on!
but i cannot sacrifice shelter and food! thank the gods the weather is warm, because i definately cannot afford heat!

The whole EI thing is dumb. I agree. We pay into EI, we should be able to USE IT. We PAY for it so we can USE IT when we're having a hard time. The government has no right to tell people that they have to work at a severely underpaying job.

Seriously. If the government tried to tell me i need to travel 100km to work a min wage job. I would refuse. What are they going to do about it? Its not in my better interest to do the above. Most of the money would go to paying for wear/tear and gas for the vehicle to get to work. Its even worse if you have kids.

This country is going down the tubes.
Our Canadian name is tarnished by our bull# government
Our country(government) supports terrorism and genocide (Israel)
Our country supports the financial cartel with our tax dollars
Our country(government) has cut off needed supplies to poor countries because 'of our budget'

As you've seen above, most of our money is wasted on bull#.

I'm with yah brother, same boat, its gone in hours. Everyone I know, even with jobs. WE live in the 2nd largest country in the world, resource bound like no one else. Our population to land mass. Well you know. And we struggle. !@#$% temp services profiteering off our backs and allowing corporations to use it as a tool to mismanage their businesses. No problem, they will call Labor Ready. We can't even make a Bic lighter in this country. EI, what a joke! HST, CPP, WSIB ETC all corrupt. Acts put in place to protect the corp from the people and use language, none of us understand, to enforce those acts upon the people using lawyers and legaleze to
Take ,take, tax, tax ,take. My kids are just getting started in that !@#$hole out there. Yah We BELIEVE ALRIGHT.

Sadly, I think most Canadian "fighters" are right here on ATS. We have a history of being a passive lot and I've often wondered how far we need to be pushed to start pushing back. Who knows? This could be it, I personally hope Quebec's Red Square attitude becomes infectious... in a positive way. If we all fight back, you know it'll be a civil war, complete with martial law. That would give the government even more freedom to do what they wish.

We need to be careful here. Most of the world is in a volatile state. It seems most countries are passing draconian laws more and more these days. NWO? perhaps ... but one thing is sure, once the fighting starts, may the gods help our children!

P.S. Add to that list of Harper: signing the North American Union agreement when he only had a minority government. (My ATS post last year about Harper's Union)
