signatures, banners, links - sharing or advertising?

Clarification please ..
I just saw another thread where the poster had links in his signature to buy his goodies, & have seen others that use signature banners for their sites. Are we allowed to do that?

I'm not referring to ATS competition (no brainer), but say, for our own artwork?

I too would like to use a banner displaying and/or linking to my art, but I don't want to run afoul or appear disrespectful.

If you send a U2U (private message) to one of the site admins or owners and ask permission, they can give you a direct yes or no answer.

I recall reading somewhere that it is allowed, when cleared by admin first. They got to make sure you are not trying to peddle porn, or scams and the like that would reflect badly on the site. Of course I could be wrong and thinking of another site

19) Advertising: You will not advertise or promote other discussion boards, chat systems, online communities or other websites on the Websites within posts, private messages, avatars and/or signatures without prior written permission from TAN. You will not choose a username that is the same as a website domain, subdomain, URL, organization, or business for which you are associated. I knew it was in the TOS somewhere

In order to have your website "advertised" in your signature, or any personal blog etc, you need permission from Admin.

Requirements are 6 months of good tenued membership and approval from staff.

I had read the TOS, but didn't U2U because I'd already done that & no one responded. I took no response to mean, "use the forums" ;-)

I'll try again. Who do we U2U, "ATS Admin"?

Would it be best to upload a banner 1st? Or just give them the url?

Anyone know ATS' position on box/mega sites like Amazon, DeviantArt, CafePress etc? Again I'm not referring to affiliate programs, just our art that's hosted on larger sites.
