I know a lot of people are going to scoff at this, and that is fine. It is something that I have pretty much kept to myself over the years, however, I am just curious so I will explain my experience, and then if you have something similar, I would love to hear your story.

I began to dream about raven several years ago. First it was a raven on a tree in a field telling me about changes in animal totems. I would watch one set of animals go into the woods and others emerge and would hear a voice saying things were changing. Usually this would happen as my moods changed over the years and I would be put into different circumstances causing a change from wolf to deer or elk to moose etc. All rather strange considering I never gave animal totems much thought. When I would look into the meanings of these animals I would gain insight into personal relationships and how I was evolving through them. That was how I first met Raven.Funny, I had always thought of myself/my guide as wolf.

Then I moved back to my hometown in Alaska.
I had a lay over in Juneau and had to rent a hotel room. I accidentally left the window open, and the next morning I awoke to a raven cawing at me from the window. My eyes opened and I looked at it, and I heard in my mind "Welcome Home". It was very direct.
I went for a walk that morning before I caught my flight to my home town, and for the first time in many many years, I felt at home. It wasn't just a feeling, my soul was in a state of relief. I was being watched by several ravens as I walked through a small trail around the hotel. I felt a weird connection.

Over the next year, I kept having these weird experiences with ravens, where they would just catch my attention and I would know something. Usually having to do with illness. Seems ravens tell me when people are ill in my family.

As I researched into ravens and raven as a spirit guide I realized something I had already played with in my mind, which was raven IS my guide. The weird thing is, I got a double whammy, I am half Tlingit native and half Norwegian, both cultures firmly believed in raven. Could it be genetic?

The more I have looked into all of the meanings, the more convinced I am that raven is a real spirit being.
Anyone else have something similar?

My spirit guide is a black wolf.
Makes sense I'm part Chichimeca which were believed to be "of dog lineage".

If your guide isn't an animal, what does it mean?

My guides are only "humans"...

My animal spirit guide is the Grey Timber Wolf. I'm part Blackfoot Indian. I feel very connected to wolves, and have 2 wolf dogs as pets, and also dream about wolves.

I guess mine would probably be a dog.

I have Cherokee blood, but for all intents and purposes I am white.

I did some ''tests'' and they said my Animal Totem is Cougar, aka Puma

''Muscles rippling, free on the mountains,
Great cat of cunning, hunting and seeking,
Teach me quietness and stealth of purpose.
Show me the secrets of quiet magic.

Leadership

This is a very powerful, but very difficult totem.
Cougar medicine is the lesson of the use of power,
how to be an effective, fair leader and not abuse power.

This totem’s gift is how to balance power, intention, strength and grace.
It is the balance of body, mind and spirit.
The first responsibility of leadership is truth.
Remember: Responsibility is no more than the ability to respond to any situation.
Cougar can teach you how to bring out your power
and fill your heart with it that will enable you to take charge of your life.
You can use Cougar power to defend yourself or to attack. ''

Seems to fit me pretty well.

Mine is a white horse.

Horse – Horse represents power: personal power and permission to be oneself. When use of the Spanish horses began by the Native Americans, Horse came to represent power because the advantage the animals gave in hunting and foraging. In a generation where women are still working toward equality, horse is a popular totem.

Iv'e never met mine unless it was a killer whale haha. I was dreaming and at the time I was struggling with kundalini and mediation, good and evil, and why was I trapped here, why demons?, wheres god?! ha.

In the dream I end up in this huge tank of dark water. I'm not immediately afraid until I notice this tank is atleast twice as big as I had thought, and one of the walls is really glass, and has a glass sliding door. That door slid open and here comes a HUGE Killer whale bearing teeth.

It's a killer whale, and I'm about to die.

He swoops in up to my face bearing his teeth so fiercely and all the sudden an inspiration hits me. I stop my fear and decide to send Love at the whale.

The whale smiles puts it's teeth back to normal, and then rubs it's nose against my face.

I don't really think that was a specific guide of mine, because it only came by once. It did teach me a valuable lesson though. If you fear things they will fear you right back. You create what you see as you see it creating what you think...

I have lots of snakes in my dreams, but they're never "nice" to me, so I don't know. I usually get bitten by them.

I think mine may be Sparrow. Not because of what it says about the sparrow totem, but because I had seen a "shadow sparrow" in the edge of my vision a few times - those of you that know about shamanism will know what I'm talking about. This link may confirm it, as I am an Aphrodite devotee - was surprised to read that a moment ago when I looked it up.

I'm just wondering how many people in this thread have actual involvement with your spirit guide? I feel like some people are just naming animals..

On a side note, lately when I am enveloped in spiritual thought a beautiful hawk flies over head. It actually just happened about an hour ago. Now I'm not saying this is my spirit guide although maybe it could be. I would like to meet my inner animal. I feel I have roots in the water though.

You do know what a group of ravens is called....a conspiracy of ravens. That is epic awesomeness.

For myself, I've always identified with the grey wolf. No idea why.

No involvement with my spiritual guide, sorry. I just have an affinity for dogs.
