It instantly went from dreary damp spring to humid summer.
I live in a quaint coastal community that gets overrun with tourists .....starting Memorial Day.
Restaurants get crowded and the beaches are packed.
They drive like morons.
They can't read signs.
They have a lot of money and the ego that comes with it.

Or maybe I'm really just pissed about other things.

I think I need a vacation. Haven't had a real one in over 8 yrs.

I'll go sit in the sun and count how many different license plates I see.

I feel your pain. I have two jobs and one deals with the public in the amusement industry. Come Memorial Day weekend, the idiots come out of the woodwork. My heart goes out to all the public service employees out there. Especially during this time of year.

Tourist dollars help out ones community. A small price to pay for a little inconvenience.

I couldn't agree more. For several years I lived in an area that relies heavily on the almighty tourism dollar - only I never referred to them as "tourists", they were "terrorists". They take over everything & every place from the lake to amusement parks to restaurants to campgrounds to resorts & the roads....like swarms of starving cockroaches. Of course they're entitled to their vacations & time away from the hustle & bustle of their every day lives, as we all are, but they could at least attempt to be pleasant to the locals who are providing the services they're so rudely demanding.

Yes I do agree with that.

But it is still annoying.

Yes when your job is to serve them it is difficult.

The from hospitality services; hotel, restaurant, entertainment - to seeing cops pull over out of staters it seems to overwhelm them.

and some people wonder why certain places get stereotyped, like when you hear "oh those New Yorkers"
we can plaster that smile on our faces and say - sure come on don't bother picking up your trash, we love having our roads clogged. And I'll still smile as you insult me right to my face.
I actually had a customer try to get me fired because he cut the service line and just started telling me his order. I said well I'm taking this girl next she was IN FRONT of you. The guy got nasty and said to my boss to speak to me about it. He made the mistake of reprimanding me right there in front of the guy. I walked out. Told him he should've pulled me aside. It really fed that guys ego - thinking I lost my job because of him. He didn't know that my boss called me the next day begging my to come back.

yea that sucks when you have to deal with a sick kid.

I love being near the water.
It's great walking on the beach
I just enjoy it more before the "season" hits
it is really quiet and peaceful in spots all through winter and spring
it's a great area that why it gets overrun with BMWs and Mercedes suvs - all the show offs come out

Sounds like where I used to live in Alaska. Once king salmon season hits it is tourist season until the fall. The town would go from 3000 to 15000 with all of the tourists and cannery workers.

But cause I was a local, I knew how to avoid em

Tourist bring cash to the island.

I can't be too mad at them, someone has to eat at Joe's Crab shack and it's not going to be me!

It has more to do with their attitude - there is a very specific "type" that comes here.

I'm still gonna do what I want to do.....even if that lady from Jersey follows me into a store after I swerved around her car to make a left - 5 lanes middle is for turning she stops dead in the inner lane and sits for a few. So honk wait then I just go around her to pull into the store. She comes up to me saying "You could see I'm from Jersey you shouldn't have honked at me." I said I would've honked at anybody who drove like that no matter where they were from. Said she'd go to the town police .... I said go ahead lady they'll just laugh.

Joe's ... never seen or been to one. Only seen commercial. We don't even have a Red Lobster - all the regular places serve lobster.

Yes I know again they bring $ to the area . Great, it just gives us higher taxes- and our politicians waste it

When I was little, I used to make money selling herring to the fishermen. I have no idea how much I made though. It was a great little business

$150 from lemonade, that's a lot of lemons!

I never understood the idea of celebrating our murdered soldiers.
Some will lie and say this is a day of rememberence.
If so the question I ask is why do we not remember the lies that got our loved ones murdered.
Memorial my @$$.

Yes
I am grateful for our military service members who give their lives ..... when I look around most people just use it as an excuse to throw parties and get drunk.

that has to suck down there.... I thought it was more like 9 months.

It's just a rant, I sometimes vent for other things and choose to not direct it at whomever is really bothering me.

Sounds like San Diego. I have to deal with idiot tourists all the time.

And they always, ALWAYS complain when the weather isn't sunny and cloudless.

"Waaaaahhhhh! It's raining! I thought San Diego is supposed to be a sunny paradise!"

We're in a drought, shut up and deal with it.
