Caught up of course in all the "ancient aliens" media agenda, I can"t dismiss one thought.

If there was an extraterrestrial presence, early on, explaining all of the structures we cannot explain...

If they had that type of super technology, the like of which we may be thousands of years from embracing, then why assume they couldn't also have the technology to erase all of the evidence? Sort of a self-destruct built into all of their machinery?

Or, everything they built was built to last or was repairable. I know death dating or newly renamed "planned obsolescence" is so deep into our culture now that people cannot fathom tools and equipment that would last for thousands of years. The aliens could have moved their technology to a different world. I don't know if aliens exist, I have not seen one yet or even seen something that looks like an alien craft. That doesn't mean that they do not exist though. People in the past would have recycled every piece of metal they had. It's not like today where we have huge mines all over the place. A piece of metal could have been made into a knife or sword if it was discovered..

Why would they care about removing evidence?
For all we know, ancient aliens weren't so hoarding and ruthless as today's leaders and governments. Aliens don't care about "no fly zones" or FAA regulations, if they are visiting us now, they will be obvious if they want, or keep their distance.

Who's to say that all those structures and technology wasn't from humans who evolved naturally? A couple asteroids would have sent them back to the stone age and wiped out most of them.

Or maybe, those aliens never left, but remain hidden to avoid more revolting from their slaves.
If we can't see the bars, then we won't believe we're in prison. If we can't see our oppressors, then to us they don't exist. I think that's the smartest play for any alien race using us as cattle.

There is evidence of humans building everything that has been built. Human ingenuity is far greater than most give credit. However, on the other hand, lack of evidence is not evidence of a super space race that can remove all traces of itself.

It kind of seems like a cop-out.

Yes, it's possible but is it likely?

There could be a magical dwarf that peed out all the world's oceans at one time too, but I'm not holding my breath on it.

Ok. If you actually think of how complex humans existence is. You and I are sitting here contemplating things like this. Look at our lives and thoughts. Our existence is so unbelievable. Why can't people perceive that there are far more intelligent and advanced beings out there including aliens. Even what they call angels and fairies can exist as some sort of energy being we cannot comprehend. How can anyone say that the life around us is simple when we cannot even understand our own DNA completely.

Think about yourself thinking and look around. How is our reality even possible. If it isn't real, the creators of this reality are real to have created it and their technology is far superior to ours. Life is so unbelievably impossible to exist.

There was a science fiction book series I have read (admittedly focused on the US Marines in space. It's really fun) which touched on this. Basically there arises wide spread churches of Alien Jesus and imminent salvation when Alien Jesus comes back. These religions based themselves off of alien artifacts found in the solar system which came from at least three completely separate alien polities that didn't know each other who visited at various points over hundreds of thousands of years for various reasons. The author kind of makes fun of these churches for throwing all these various historical (in universe anyways) occurances together into some kind of mystic "cosmic space brothers" mythology. If we do find evidence of aliens in the solar system I have no doubt that this will occur to some degree coming from true believers and charlatans looking to fleece the gullible in equal measure.

I see this "ancient aliens" agenda is simply a shift of religious beliefs from the supernatural into a technological based dogma. Ultimately if the general populace does not indulge in the Kool-Aid it can be seen as a positive thing, a move from a fully organized and now evolved religious dogmas that are hard to engage and discuss logically and even to attribute blame on the deception to the indoctrinated clergy to a much more manageable case of dealing with flimflam artists with messianic complexes.

It is a readjustment of what Carl Jung the Collective unconscious. The positive aspect is that it brings the discourse into the field of science and not faith, without eroding or directly attacking those that benefit and need to have faith in something...
