hope you don’t mind me sneaking swiss music into your german music thread. i feel like contributing with ‘kuckucks eier'
but I do think the swiss yodel the best. - and I like their ‘alphorn’, i think only the tibetans and the australian aborigines can match this
instrument
Ski-Twist - Vico Torriani
Peter Hinnen -Yodeling Swiss Cowboy
Alphornfreunde Zermatt - Alphornbläser am Matterhorn
I recall 1999, when a lady took her neighbor to court because his bush was growing into her "Maschendrahtzaun" (chain-link fence).
Televised on a court TV-type reality show, the case and its legalese caused much hilarity and became emblematic for German small-mindedness, and
trifling legal issues between neighbors. en.wikipedia.org...
It also prompted a country song, which still entertains, as well as several political spin-offs on the song.

Heidi Brühl - Hundert Mann und ein Befehl (the German version of the "Ballad of the Green Beret", 1966).
World War I - Wildgänse rauschen durch die Nacht:
Praesentier March von Kaiser Wilhelm II:
World War II: Panzerlied (song of the tank unit):
So many wars, from Roman colonialism to wars for religion and royalty, to modern politics.
These songs actually hide incredible tragedy and loss.
Marlene Dietrich explores the pathos, and a longing for peace in the song "Sag mir wo die Blumen sind?" ("Where have all the flowers gone?"):
