Let's see if I can come up with another one...

Do you have a blog? Did you set it up yourself?

Did you know that a vast amount of businesses have no internet presence, and that the companies out there that provide them try to charge an arm and a freaking leg to set one up for a business?

Yellow Pages, for example, will set up a VERY shabby 1 page website for a company and charge them $1000+ for it.

And trust me, when I say crappy, I mean crappy lol

However, if you even know how to set up a simple Wordpress blog website, you could make money by setting up websites for companies that don't have them, and charge them a MUCH cheaper price.

If you were to talk to a business about setting up a site, and told them that you would charge them $250 for it, and the day before, a yellow pages rep told them they would get charged 1000 for something much less, do you think they would be more apt to use you, or YP?

Yeah, thought so.

I do this all the time for businesses, and they love the results. I can then charge them a nominal monthly fee ($20) to maintain it and update it 4 times a month for them.

If they want extra services, like Search Engine Optimization, list maintaining, etc, I can charge them more. Some take it, some do not. But I have over 100 companies that use this service alone. That's $2000 a month JUST from the maintenance; that does not factor in the initial $250 that is paid for the 5 page, awesome looking site they get.

Just an example. Seriouesly. No training needed. Just use the skills you probably already have and use to make some money.

Shoot, if you post here, you are more internet savvy than a large amount of business owners out there. Think I am wrong? Then why is it that 50% of businesses have no internet presence, and 70% of businesses have not even done something as simple, and CUSTOMER GETTING, as setting up their Google Places pages?

Gold, people. Gold lol This method alone gives a darn good living wage, and I don't have to be concerned with a company shutting down or stoping my service, as there are plenty more, worldWIDE, that need it.

It's a numbers game.

I suppose you advertise. That's great and all, but unfortunately I am in the camp that does not believe in the value of advertising. I think advertising produces no intrinsic value if people knew better. But it is the sad reality that they don't know any better. Advertisers are not terribly interested in making people know better, because it would rob them of their own livelihood.

Am I completely off the mark?

Nevertheless, I am not ashamed of just falling in line and doing my duty. Being a good cog in the machine, if you will.

About 15 years ago I had my first desktop computer, scanner and printer. I wasn't working because I was widowed very young with 3 kids under 7 years old, and I stayed home to take care of them. I lived on an occupational pension but money was pretty scarce.

I knew a couple of nightclub doormen, and one of them was telling me he'd been locked up in police cells all weekend after being arrested following allegations of assault by a club-goer, but he was released and the charges were dropped. I had an idea when he showed me his charge sheet. Many of his colleagues were always in trouble with their wives for staying out and were regularly accused of playing away (which they were), so I told them that for £10 I could guarantee they would not be in the doghouse with their wives, ever again.

I copied the charge sheet, blanked out the person's name, and saved it to floppy. Every time one of the bouncers 'forgot' to go home to his wife, I opened the saved file, typed in the bouncer's name, and printed it off. Then I handed it over for a tenner
He'd go home and tell his wife he was locked up overnight/all weekend after being arrested and show her the (fake) charge sheet as his 'proof'. Happy man and happy wife.

Word was whispered to other club bouncers, and I earned quite a few quid just printing a sheet of paper from a floppy disk, for a tenner each.

My telephone was always ringing on Sunday mornings, with calls from bouncers 'ordering' their charge sheets to pick up on their way home to their wives haha.

He used the method I gave in the OP, the text service for businesses.

From the email I got from them later, they have begun to use the postcard method as well, though I have not heard from them since they started at it. They had gotten a few businesses to sign on at that point.

The text service really does work well; it's what I use as a good source, myself.

Crime pays. There are a number of meth heads where i live that will steal anything to make money. You can find many daily at the scrap yards selling what they have taken over night.

Draw backs
Getting beaten, arrested or shot by a home owner or property owner that catches you

well, while your advice may be a way to make money, that's not what this thread is about.

This thread is turning out to be quite interesting with the replies lol

Hi Jomina,

Thanks so much for putting out great ideas who I'm sure work well for a lot of people. The reason I think people are so pessimistic and don't see those outside opportunities can certainly be attributed to indoctrination of society but don't forget that in order to approach businesses in any manner, one has to be somewhat of a sales person. Show up professionally dressed and confident about what you're selling because at the end of the day, you're selling. You're selling yourself as an individual (first impression), you're selling a service to business owner and you're selling a business to potential customers. Not everyone has good people skills so I feel that a lot of people will miss out on this opportunity because of that. What's your take on that?

I agree with that to a certain extent, but you have to realize, as well, that everything that we do, every single day, involves selling.

Give you an example of that:
As a child, I am sure you wanted a new toy or something, and you try to convince your parents to get it for you.

That's selling.

If you watnt o do something new or try a new food, you are selling yourself on the idea to do it or not.

So, in a very real way, everyone is selling to themselves or someone else every single day. Whether you buy from them or not is up to you lol

So, sure, some people will be resistant to the idea, just as they are resistant to many things. This info isn't gfor them, in that case. They will move on and keep saying that things are hard or everyone is keeping them down.

There's also those that say they cannot due to time constraints/family issue/whatever. That's fine too. Each person reaches a stage of their life that things will open up and things will close for them.

If this info speaks to you, in particular, and you spring ideas to make use of and generate an income, then great. This stuff was for you, and I am so glad to have helped you.

(the "you, BTW there, is anyone not just YOU UFCG hehe general "you" term)

Some people equate confidence with snappy dress and all of that. Personally, I walk into a busines as I am and as I liek to be, and if they reject me based on that alone, I didn't need their business to begin with, and they likely would have been a company I fired, anyhow.

(yes, I have fired businesses before, because I felt it was not worth working with them. Some people run their businesses like they run their lives, and I work for myself, not them. They deal with me on my terms or not at all, and their competition ends up getting my business and makes the profit.)

There are those, however, that don't have that kind of confidence, and that, too is okay. That comes with time.
