Welcome. There is no other choice BUT socialism, we are living with it already (just doing a sloppy job of it) and calling it another name. And people
who are in communication with each other do not know that socialism is the only way to survive together. We are social animals and operate
"synergistically" in that joining together we CAN create something
greater than the sum of two parts. Two heads are better than one and when it
comes to many universal truths we ARE all on the same page.
TPTB might have you believe differently - to expedite their own causes namely getting more power and money from other peoples sweat and blood.
Anything that is NOT socialism is elitist and will favor a ruling or economic class or individual group over another. People are kinda dumb to think
what they have even now is not closer to socialism than anything else - at least we had better hope so.
People opt out and live off the grid but they are exceptions. The rest of us work dealing with the public, shop in stores, pay our taxes and wear our
seat belts. Democracy is only the voice of Socialism and it tries to ensure satisfaction of THE PEOPLE, to maintain the working Republic. In a
working Republic people should be able to live off the grid. People should do what people want...after some basic ground rules and those stem from
your priorities. If you value freedom - you cannot take "freedom" away from another person.
I say:
Like any joint en devour you need to begin with and agree on a
Declaration of Intent.
The "Declaration of Independence" touches on a few responsibilities of government, it suggests what the governments purpose is, how it shall benefit
"the people" in it's organization, and when it is over reaching. There is no mission statement written by the people. We became independent...great,
now where do we want to go? What do we want to do? Live spread out or close together? Produce things, or live in idyllic leisure? Everyone do their
own thing? Anything is possible but you have to decide where you are going before you can get there.
A Declaration of Intent, or a Mission Statement - is needed so everyone is on the same page, pulling the same direction and so everyone knows what
they are signing up for (and getting out of) in this relationship, this family, this street, this area, this town, city, state, country, hemisphere,
this world. They should all formulate a mission statement. Political parties try to do this for us but they do a lousy job and they get it wrong a
great deal. Citizens United is a bunch of CORPORATIONS who are banding together claiming to represent "WE THE PEOPLE" and making mission statements
for us. Special interest groups like ALEC are hi-jacking our PARTICIPATORY legislative process. Fact is we no longer need representation from any
congressman senator and certainly none or group like Citizens United or ALEC. We can represent ourselves. Ask me a question? I count as one. (at least
as long as you don't use Jeb Bush's new electronic voting booths...lol) That is democracy, it is sort of social in that all are included and I think
inclusion is necessary for any Republic.
What are the rules you live by and what is your code, your priorities? This was tried in biblical times but the differences among us set us out in
different directions and fear prevailed. We know a lot more about each other now. We know we all have a right to be here, people are not heathens
because they have different customs and none should suffer or die at the hands of another. When didn't we know this? The first law, the
Hammurabis Code provides for widows and orphans. That is inherently socialist. They don't
just cut them lose, like you are hearing people suggest today. We have not become less human, become less social.... or have we?
You have to decide (as a people or as whatever group you include yourself in)...what is important to you, what your priorities actually are.
In our political discourse we get a very generalized idea of our differences. Fact is all of us WANT THE SAME THINGS. We each recommend a different
way of getting these things. Why not take the most sensible way. Why not do what is best for all? That is the essence of socialism and it is what we
try.
So I suggest we start with a Mission Statement - what is it you want to do? Take over the world or live amongst others in peace? I don't even think we
can agree on the answer to that but it would be interesting to know.
After a mission statement is created, based on those priorities, you decide what NEEDS to be done.
What is essential and at the top of the list.
And then you set about doing it.
Why not feed the world?
Why not world peace?
Why not start at home?
It wouldn't be babble from beauty contestants if we just friggin did it.
You have to want it, prioritize it, get it done, make it self perpetuating and move on to the next thing. It all seems very simple to me. We
complicate things deliberately. I know, I'm rambling - because I think people categorically dismisses socialism the same way they do liberalism - out
of ignorance. And it is laughable. Who doesn't want LIBERTY?
The broken system that we have now is like making sausage. Except it doesn't even actually produce a sausage in the end! We are going through the
ugly, painful motions, as if we are. It is not getting anything done EXCEPT making the rich richer and the poor poorer. We have the statistics to
prove it.
We are no Democracy. We are a blossoming plutocracy and a failing Republic. We are failing to network and connect as intended to even make socialism
work. We are the proverbial can of worms.
Welcome!
