I'm not sure what they are called nowadays, but they used to be known as "blackhat keyword clouds", it is simply a method of trying to include a multitude of keywords in a blog to try and get hits and rankings from google.

The more keywords you included in your blog the more chance you had of getting "hits"

I'm pretty sure that the latest "panda" and "penguin" updates from google have addressed this.

Not a conspiracy at all I'm afraid.

Spun text - You find another synonym to the word and replace it. Keywords change but story remain the same - dogs oriented. Depends on the article, the keywords ranking will yield either "dog/canine, owner/master, "lap/lick", and usually ads company algo will place ads about uhh... dog/pet stuff ?

Keyword spamming is - you copy and paste the keyword into the page, find more things that maybe linked to dogs and paste it and repeat. No story, no grammar, no punctuation etc.

Keywords stuffing - you insert the same theme keyword into the article, still make up a story albeit weird.
For dogs - "A dog pet loves to lick its master drool." - Pet and drool was inserted to make a wider keyword target, yet its still about dogs.

Scraping and spun - Scraping is process of copying the text and spun/jumble it. The sentences have correct grammar, but you cannot make up story. Still usually its linked to the main theme - dogs in our case.

Notice its about dog, but the story doesnt make sense. The first sentences was pickup from a news paper, 2nd is our own words. Still, its about dogs.

Have a look at the blogs, see if you can make up the the story or better keywords, things that keep repeating, the theme of the story, what is the article is all about. I did, and its not even close to what I expect in the ads.
The blog have really weird keyword for things they advertised. Selling Refrigerator to apocalypse themed reader is something weird. In fact, I cant makeup the keywords.

I'm so glad that someone sees my point. I understand completely how these things are generated. I don't need another person to tell me what these blogs are, how they are generated, or what their purpose is as far as generating web traffic.

I posted an example earlier in the thread of how these blogs can be easily manipulated to pass pertinent information with the camouflage of an SEO.

There is more evidence of these particular SEO's being covert than there is being harmless spun text.

They are targeting virtually every niche imaginable, just to get search results in google etc.

You have to remember these bloggers are spammers, they are not running white hat sites...I already pointed out earlier, one of the blogs mentioned had a cloud of spam keywords, but ultimately he/she was selling jeans from a Chinese site.

There really is no conspiracy here, it's just spammers selling stuff.

Ok, I am a little late to this thread. Let me first say that I am engaged to AFEWGOODWOMEN. We have been together for over five years, and I trust her judgement more than anything.
Now, when I first saw the "blogs" that she is describing, my first thought was that they were programs designed to get web traffic to a website. These "blogs" are remarkably similar to said programs.
The funny thing about these "blogs", is that they contain or deal with information that is news, but they come out 1 or 2 days before stuff goes down. Now I would like to say that I am less of a conspiracy theorist than my girl.
The thing that really gets to me is that, things roughly discussed in these "blogs" were happening 1 or 2 days later. The other thing that gets to me is when she started posting and deciphering these blogs on a different website, several strange things began to happen. First, there was a ton of people, who had never posted before, flooding her thread with "that's just programs designed to generate web traffic." Which is fine. The other thing that happened, however, is that the blogs were taken down for several weeks. When they reappeared, they had a brand new encryption being used. I am not going to go into details, but what they discussed is scary. Anycrap, my girl can give you more details, but I do know that, what she was reading was NOT some program to get the GAP to sell jeans. Let me also say that, alot of what we have deciphered from these posts has come true.
