They pay more attention to American idol than to cspan. They pay more attention to oprah than to their senators and congress critters. They can give you all kinds of sports stats, but know nothing about our budget. Many are only interested in what they can get from the "gubmint" and not at all interested in what they can do for their fellow man.
If the people pay attention and see company "A" lobbying their legislators against their interests. They can fire that legislator and keep doing it until someone with integrity gets in office. However, our electorate refuses to pay attention and accepts graft, corruption, and immorality as "normal" for politicians. Why vote for a slimeball you would not let in your home?

With all due respect, I'll have to disagree. Money is the problem first and foremost. It leads way to fraud. Ever notice how billion dollar corporations lobby? What are they lobbying for? Certainly not anything for the peoples benefit. Or how the same interests fund campaigns. Are they funding those campaigns for the people? If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck. It's a d@mn duck!I'm sure you have contrasting views if you think it an issue with the people. So in the end we're going to have to agree to disagree.

The elections are a problem now. I agree, but only because the electorate allowed the situation to deteriorate so far. As for the chaos you posit, I welcome it. It may be our last opportunity for a reset. That reset will be as at least two separate nations though. Liberals/socialists and those of us desiring freedom are just to different to continue as one nation. We could do it as a confederation of sovereign states, but not as one monolithic centralized nation though.
