While I've never been convinced that 9/11 and emergency number 911 was anything more than a coincidence (though I am open-minded about the idea and I certainly am suspicious of 911 anyway), here's some interesting news: Russia is implementing their own emergency number- 112:

112 is the number here already. Been for ages. Not sure about the western neighbours. It's a good idea to have it the same nearby.

Well that's good to know. I started this thread mostly for fun- I know the 9/11 and 911 connection has been made so often- a coincidence I think. But still- some people have some ideas that it's more than that, and so I wanted to see how the dialogue would play out. Could be some interesting speculation, and worth reading.

I suprised, russians implement it hmmmm.. That does not smell nice.
Possible one small step out from classical todays russia.

112 has already been used, I predicted it beforehand on a major forum

911 New York - Tuesday 11th September 2001
311 Madrid - Thursday 11th March 2004
77 London - Thursday 7th July 2005
112 Haiti - Tuesday 12th January 2010
311 Japan - Friday 11th March 2011

911 is the US emergency helpline
311 is the US urgent helpline (non life threatening incidents)
77 In many states #77 gets you through directly to police
112 European Emergency Number
