Armed drones now flying over the US

Yep. I always do just that however in your pic, the UAV is refueling the experimental plane (Similar or the one used by Virgin Atlantic for the space flight competition?). I would like to see one the other way around...a UAV being refuelled. I'm sure its already in the works or completed. I'm thinking more on the line of 'RUMBA' the Robot Vacuum which knows when its low on juice and seeks its charging location to charge itself

I feel this is the last straw for freedom in the US, as the government's current plans for 30,000 of these would give them surveillance and attack capabilities everywhere in the US at all times and in nearly all types of weather.
No doubt this is for the upcoming NATO summit in Chicago but what really are they for? How could these possibly deter terrorists?
I find this to be a troubling harbinger of things to come.

Well, the combined might of the US military has NEVER stopped an attack in progress on the USA.

The Predator drones are being used by police forces now, too.

One would imagine that having access to our every email, phone call, website visit, bank and credit transaction, work record,medical record, school records and legal records would be enough. But NO, they need to have drones in the sky to watch over every square inch of the US.
You're also spot on about setting precedents; the next stop will be small flying drones that can silently attach themselves to walls or cars, fly in open windows etc, etc. They will be the size and for all practical appearances look like bugs. I don't care to live in a world where this kind of tech is commonplace and used by the PTB to enslave a populace that doesn't even have the heart to rebel.
God knows what our founding fathers would think of this - actually I do, they would say "why have you let these people have so much power over you? " I wouldn't blame them for thinking us a Nation of cowards.

I agree. The way the camera is zoomed/panned.. seems like it's a little off, like a edited zoom in a movie making program.

Either way, get used to it. Fake or not it will become a daily reality.

All right guys, these (possibly) armed drones in the sky are going to change the whole ball game. They are not just good at firing hellfire missiles, they are good at surveillance, they are mobile, and they are everywhere. If the government wants to grab total control, now or in the future, these drones will be a force to be reckoned with.

The story might not make that much difference today... but I'm sure that it will affect our freedoms, and even our everyday lives, in the future.

How long until we hear about drone strikes against our own citizens on American soil? Or is the government preparing for civil unrest and totalitarian control? Or both?

I suppose 20,000 drones might put a dent in some civil unrest, but I would consider the government to have officially lost moral standing at that point.

The weather station at O’Hare International Airport reported steady winds in the 12.7 mph to 18.4 mph range and gusts in the 19.6 mph to 25.3 mph range on Sunday May 12, 2012. Also, steady winds in the 8.1 to 12.7 mph range and gusts in the 19.6 to 20.7 mph range were reported on May 12, 2012 — a little closer to Elgin at DuPage Airport.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Department said Sheriff Thomas Dart has been eyeing this military technology since July 2011. The Illinois National Guard said it is already conducting training flights of its Shadow drone within Illinois airspace.

“Like any equipment, we need to train on it, and it makes sense to do that training in Illinois,” Leighton said. “We recognize the safety concerns so we’re not flying over neighborhoods; we usually stick to soybean fields.”

At some point in the not 'too' distant future, if you find yourself in the midst of a riot, demonstration, or 'illegal gathering' whether you believe you're within your rights to be there or not and you happen to notice that all law enforcement has completely dissappeared.... run, run like the wind. Into a building would probably be safest - use your judgment. If/when the economy collapses, there WILL be bloody riots, mainly at the grocery stores. So get in, out, and away as quickly as you can - hopefully with a car full of food ....before the drones arrive.

The video is a fraud, The U.S. government are not operating Hellfire armed MQ-1 Predators over U.S. cities no matter how badly some wish to confuse the drone issue and insist this nonsense is true.

Reconnaissance drones are bad enough, diluting the issue with fabricated hoax video's does nobody any favours in resolving the issue.

This video only serves to make the public look foolish when they demand that Homeland Security cease domestic operations of an aircraft type they are not employing

Instead of all the “shooting” down post conversations…………Why not just say “NO”…”NO More”………

Unite as one voice and say “NO”……Create a dialog on how to change it……..

It sure looks like a Military drone to me. It doesn't look like your AAI RQ-7 Shadow image, that is for sure. Could it simply be a test flight? Though one would think that they would test this sort of thing in a less populated region. Anybody know if there are any U.S Military bases near this location? If it is in fact a Drone, then I would hope that it was armed with a replica and not the real thing. If it were to malfunction and crash, that could get ugly. ~$heopleNation

Kind of just resign yourself to losing your freedoms, your liberty and now to get used to the idea that you could lose your life to a frigging fully armed to the teeth robot drone above you.

The trick is for a relative few supposed 'representatives' (although representive of who and what is a mystery) to get 350 Million people to think that way, and they have total control all sewn up and in the bag.

The reality is, the 350 Million people only lose all of the above...if they're willing to go along with it.

The government is doing this TO you, they aren't going to both do it to you and then prevent it too...that's up to you...how much is enough?

i really do not understand why this is any reason for fear. i suppose only an organism as paranoid as the united states would be afraid of it's own antibodies..

what you have yet to understand is what exactly the goverment is doing to you, and what you are doing to it. these drones aren't out to get you, they exist to protect you from whatever kind of "evil" the goverment thinks may come along to hurt you. including the "evil" within yourself.

So its okay if they fly over foreign countries, but not okay if they fly over the us.
