This so-called "story" would have happened in the early 70s. I was very involved in the anti-war movement and I was very aware of who Kerry was. I don't remember him doing any such thing. In fact, among the anti-war groups, he was considered a moderate rather than a radical.
He was one of those who would not cross the line into that kind of behavior (I wouldn't either). Yes, people did burn and disgrace the flag,but they were usually the SDS types ...Kerry was a very moderate, reasoned, spokesman for the anti-war movement.
Also, as someone mentioned, you really had to be there to understand the feelings of the time. Bob Dornan has zilch credibility and I'd discount anything he has to say. He's totally blinded by a crazy hate that came out of the whole Viet Nam war split.
It was a crazy time and people did crazy things BUT, if John Kerry had disgraced the American flag, by burning or urinating on it, I'm sure I would have known it. I'm not all-knowing, but I was a total news junkie and totally into the anti-war movement. Quite frankly, he was seen,by many of the protestors as a little too "establishment" as we used to say.

Like my colleague joey says, there aren't any 50 plus-year-old people that I can thinkof who saw it. All the guys in my band are grownups (except for the mandolin player, who's just a 48-year-old punk kid) and they are hard core political wonks, too. Nada.

I asked six or seven of my office mates, all of whom are my age or older (well, not older; no one's older) and none of them had even heard of it.

Kerry was simply not radical enough back then to do something like that.

Reagan's men, sold weapons to the terrorists who held hostages, in order to release the hostages, so he could win the elections. Surprise! Then, the money ws used to fund a war against a democratically elected President of another country, who we didn't like.

I remember watching on tv the hostages being captured, held for over a year, then released. I don't find joking about another 'october surprise' to be that funny. Especially when there are hostages in Iraq right now.

The most disturbing aspect of that for me has always been he and his Bush 41 (CIA/Military) co-conspirators not only undermined the good willed efforts of a sitting President, but effectively PROLONGED THE ORDEAL OF THE HOSTAGES.
