If was able to leave this Country legally, I would have done so many years ago.

The reason why I can not leave is a story within itself, but the short version is we have private companies in this Country that collect child support payments. They increase the amount that is paid in order to pay for their services. Then prior to giving the money to the custodial parent, they then take a cut of the child support to pay for their services (they get paid on both ends), all the while they never report a single payment to the State. So in the eyes of the State, your behind. Of course when you are behind by $1500 or more, the equivalent of a couple months of payments, you are no longer permitted to leave the Country and you can not receive a passport.

And this is "The Land of the Free"

My family and I are thinking seriously about leaving the U.S. I cannot abide all of the fanaticism and terror panic going on. I don't think it is going to get better.

Sorry, this thread has failed to upset me. I do agree the place has problems. Yea, I'd like to live in Sweden. However, my GF doesn't like the cold and has local family ( mine long ago disowned this commie), and neither of us speak Swedish. My idea of a solution is to drop out. I've never really been in, but I could drop out further if I had cooperation and the resources. My idea is NOT to use violence. 1st, I'm not that kind of person. 2nd, I'm smart enough to not point a gun at the government. Suicide is the coward's way out.

It means when SHTF, when people try to take our rights, when the The Man tries to shut us up, when no one is left to stick up for human rights, WE CONTINUE FIGHTING.

But, S had hit the fan. It is hitting the fan as we speak in our airports, where people get molested every day by a bunch of goons. It's hit the fan every time a citizen is beaten up by law enforcement, just for calling 911.

What are we doing as a collective to stop the insanity? No one is doing nothing at all but sitting on message forums and complaining about it. Every one is too scared.

I think when it comes time to take the guns away, everyone will comply. I really do. If grown men will stand aside and allow their wives to submit to TSA practices I just don't see what anyone is going to do.

When TSA started their crap up, everyone should have been storming the airports with pitch forks and guns demanding that this stop. But here we are just sitting here talking about it.

Wanna know why? Cause deep down we all know what will happen to us if we step out of line. We all have to work together to go against this. We can't just do it in small numbers.

When people like occupy get together and stick their necks out, then it's some people on ATS putting them down. Hell, at least they had the guts to do something, rather than sit at home crying about it.

I don't think we stand a chance if only smalls numbers go up against tptb. We will be mowed down in the streets with pepper spray, sound machines, and later on...... shot to death. Whoever lives will go to the detention camps to learn how to be good citizens and comply.

Yes I think our law enforcement and military will mow us flat down on the road and roll over us like we are nothing.

I've seen it in my dreams, and that is why I'm thinking of saying good bye to this land of "freedom" and disillusionment.

When my wife was in England a few years ago, she was outside the "Build-a-Bear" in Birmingham. She went to take a picture of it, and was promptly approached by a police officer who questioned her. She said she was taking a picture for her inlaws in the U.S. and then she was told to delete the photo from the camera of he would have to confiscate it. She asked what the big deal was, and the cop told her it was due to "terrorism". Hmmmmm, my wife is blonde hair, blue eyed, and doesn't have a damn thing to do with Islam.

Meanwhile, in the same mall location (St. Martin's Square), there was a group of about 15 Muslims with signs talking about killing non-Muslims. The cop didn't say a word to them. Go figure. Gotta love political correctness.

I have gotten in trouble for taking pictures in places I thought were public. Not so much around where I live in Texas, but in Manhattan, after 9/11, it was a serious deal to take pictures of "potential targets" I guess is what you would call it. Even in the subway, lol. Like I said, even in public places, which is ridiculous. What happened in this case is absolutely terrible, and hopefully she gets a settlement in the case. But even more importantly, I hope some people go to jail.

Several points here.

1. If she was in a Mall, then the Mall is classified as private property under English law, and the owners may prohibit photography as a condition of allowing you access to their property. If this was the case, the police officer had no legal jurdistriction, unless the Mall owners had made a formal legal complaint about you. Even then, his powers were limited to escorting you off the property.

If it was public land, which I have to say is doubtful, then you had a legal right to take pictures of anying and everything you wished to.

2. No police officer can compel you to delete pictures without a court warrant. No police officer can conficate your camera without a court warrant (there is one exception to this, I'll explain shortly). There have been a large number of prosecutions against the police over these issues, and the police have lost every single one of them.

The exception: If the officer believes that your images may contain evidence pertaining to a crime, and that you might destroy or tamper with said evidence, then he may confiscate the camera as evidence. He has to give you a reason and a reciept for this.

I am curious, did said officer ever use "Section 44 of the terrorism act"?

This was a very nasty paragraph in the law, that authorized police to stop and search anyone they felt like, and after the police's continual abuse of said section, parliament finally revoked it. Of course, the police found another section in the act they could twist to the same effect... *sigh*

I don't disagree with any of your points. The laws are pretty similar here in the U.S. However, we've seen how people can be "right" and "within the law" and still get their heads caved in. She simply deleted the photos, as we have Build-A-Bear stores here (hell, we have one in the town we live in). She didn't think it was that big of a deal, and simply deleted it. As far as I know, he didn't rattle off any section of any laws to her. It was fairly "casual" in nature, but stern. She was there with her mother who just got out of chemo and radiotherapy, so it's not like she was in a mood to have anything else go wrong.

Well, I do apologize for the fact that your taste of our generally pleasant country had to be marred by a jumped up police officer who felt like showing off power that he didn't really have.

Why would you say that?

Considering the satelite images are updated somewhat regularly, I would imagine they dont predate it. But, more importantly, the images from streetview you see withOUT the helicopter were taken well over a year prior to this indecent. SOthe removal is not related. Might have been for maintenance?.
