A war would be moronic and destructive for both sides on extraordinary levels. China needs us and we need them...going to war on a military level would not benefit anyone.

Also, a "World War" isn't simply declared. There needs to be various countries declaring war on each other.

Example: Israel declares war on Iran. Russia declares war on Israel. We (United States) declare war on Russia.

For the next few years, mayhem and warfare.

Get it?

I was not suggesting for one moment that a man who states he is a National Socialist and admires Hitler could be a racist or pro-genocide.

I was merely wondering how you reconcile your hatred for Australia with Hitler's admiration of the British Empire.

You have somewhat answered that question by stating its not really Australia you hate, merely its government because it denationalised its utility companies.

The horror.

What we need to avert global war is already happening right now as we speak...

Humans have been divisive throughout our history. In our early years we created tribal
and familial boundaries to segregate and protect ourselves from outsiders. As time progressed
these lines were re-drawn and we began to segregate ourselves based on racial ties, and religious ties,
and finally we created the most dangerous of all boundaries in the "Nation state".

It could be argued that our separation based on religious ties is the most dangerous of all, but
this misses the point of the powerful cohesive nature of the nation state, where resources
are pooled and WMD's are created. Most of us have lived our entire lives under the threat
of global nuclear war or the release of destructive biological weapons that could eradicate
our species---the nation state is responsible for this predicament.

So how do avert the threat of global war?

We come together as a species.

Okay, so how do we implement this new age, tree-hugging, hippy doctrine?

We wait. We keep our finger off the button and we wait. We wait until a new global language
emerges, that we can use to communicate we each other as humans, erasing the nation
state boundaries, marginalizing the still existing boundaries of race and religion. So that we
can come to realize that all of humanity is stuck in the same little blue boat together, in the
same predicament....the predicament of figuring out how we all can co-habit this little planet-full
of resources without ultimately foundering in our own waste.

And it will happen. I think the greatest achievement of mankind is on the horizon....the creation
of a new global language. One that we all can use to eradicate the boundaries
of the nation state. One we can all use to better understand our differences in culture and
religious beliefs.

One that we can use to finally see that we, as a species, are all in this together, and that we all
must take part and work together to protect the entire planet--not just our own nation state,
or religious idealogues who thin like us, are have the same color skin.

Only time will tell if we can make it over this hurdle, and those that come to power that
preach divisiveness must come to be seen as the enemy...not the savior.

"Revenues will decrease for the US government as debt and entitlements will exponentially grow," it says. "Defence spending is set to decrease in real terms over the long term. As such, the Pentagon will have to grapple with dwindling resources [and] this may be a serious challenge."

One of Australia's leading defence analysts, Mark Thomson, agrees.

"The GFC has left US public finances in a parlous state," he says in a recent report for the Australian Strategic and Policy Institute.

"It is difficult to escape the conclusion that the scene is set for a large downward swing in US defence spending like those which occurred in 1953, 1970 and 1984.

"In the absence of a clear and present strategic imperative, the next decade will once again see a contraction of US military power -- a contraction that is likely to accelerate in the decades that follow, given the long-term fiscal outlook."

The good news for Australia is that even if US military spending declines and the Pacific fleet dwindles in size and potency, it will be many years before it is seriously challenged as the pre-eminent power in the region.

The US will this year spend more than $US700 billion on national defence, more than the next 34 highest spending countries in the world combined.

The US 7th fleet in the western Pacific has more than 50 warships, 350 aircraft and 60,000 marines at its disposal, including 18 permanently forward-deployed warships operating from Japan and Guam.

The fleet holds a clear military superiority over Chinese naval forces today and is likely to do so for years to come, even allowing for a steady decline in US defence spending that will eventually affect its military presence in the region.

Same old anti-American drivel from you again friend? Then why did you say earlier that you would love to go to war against us? You're gravely mistaken if you truly mean that. Also, I would not underestimate Red China's interests in your land and resources in order to feed their growing population. You better think about that.

Here, Let me educate you a little bit. No America = a conquered and subjugated Austrailia. Just as it would have been had the Japanese Empire succeeded. You need to be careful what you wish for. Your hatred has blinded you to the realities of Governments like the Red Chinese. You have no idea whatsoever how much worse you would be treated by them.

All we have done is be an ally just as you have, And make no mistake about it, your Government is controlled by the same International Banksters as we are. What blows my mind is how you recklessly assume that Red China's government is not atleast equally if not more corrupt than the maters of puppets here in the West.

On Topic- I dont deny that the American Military could probably bomb the rest of the world out of existance.

Of course we could, yet we don't. Are we perfect? Far from, and I could go on all day here about that. However, If god forbid the day ever comes that we no longer exist or possess the power to defend the Pacific, you will come to realize that you won't get such kindness from The Red Chinese. ~$heopleNation

And the winner is... neither. War is war. Like the people on this thread, both sides will fight to their respective bitter ends and millions will die. Entire cities razed, infrastructure destroyed, mass famine and diseased death are the only results of any war. Too bad we can't view (and I mean really view) the way people live in places like Iraq, and Libya right now. Theirs is a middle aged scenario lived in hunger and fear.

Yaaay, another successful war enterprise unleashed on humankind. What'd y'all prove warmongers? That you can hurt your fellow man? Well good job. Who's next?

Question? When 'we the people' elect a government which then sets about privatizing the services which we hoped they would be providing us in exchange for or tax money what are we supposed to think? If a governments sells 'our' assets for fractions of the price is that not at best theft and at worse, treason?

I am not sure the word hatred should be applied, as perhaps it implies more intimacy than was ever possible, but how angry is angry enough?

Thanks,

This is a reply to Paradox who states that:

"The F-22 has oxygen problems. Are you forgetting all about the rest of our superior air power? Hell, we own the world with our military power. That's why no one will step up to us. We simply overwhelm everyone else."

Seriously?

Wow, American arrogance really knows no boundaries... You could beat the whole world? *Sigh*

I am a firm believer that despite all this "tech" you claim to have, American soldiers are not on the same level as British soldiers, who are undeniably the best in the world.

And no, thats not just blind patriotism. We have the proudest millitary history in the world. Since before your country even came about we were fighting.

Why do you think American troops train with British troops? Read interviews from American soldiers and they testify their admiration of the British soldier.

We have a much, much, much lower death rate in Iraq and Afghanistan than the Americans.

Why?

Because our troops are superior, and no this isn't just bashing Americans, i'm just stating facts.

Our troops also don't urinate on dead bodies and such, exemplifying Britains professionalism. (Though by no means am I saying the British millitary doesn't have a few rotten eggs as well)

You can keep all your tech, because when it comes down to it, it's the quality of the soldiers operating it who win the war.

Hell, I'd like to see America take on the combined forces of Britain and Germany. If they had formed an alliance - which the Nazi's wanted - then lets just say you would be saying a very different pledge of allegiance.

Please don't take my post as bashing of Americans as I assure you it's not. It's an argument developed around facts.

If China seriously wanted to wipe out the USA, it will be done through cyberwarfare and economic warfare, without a shot being fired.

USA would be wiped out in under a week.

China is doing relatively well and is on a major upswing, why start a world war when things are good? Why would China want to start such a war, why would the U.S.?

Yes, China is the superpower of the future, but I suspect the U.S. isn't going anywhere in that regard for a long time. Despite how much people moan about the economy here, we're still way better off than most of the rest of the world (way better off than China still). America on a downturn is still the richest and most powerful nation in the world by a very wide margin.

I fought and trained with brits in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Great guys. Professional, but I wouldn't say superior.

When I said own the world I was referring to any enemies/potential threats. Probably wasn't the best choice of words. But the countries that make up the majority of the civilized world are already our allies excluding Russia and China, which we could crush without any help.

British soldiers the best in the world? What happened to the British empire? Oh yeah it no longer exists! honestly I have nothing but respect for my fellow comrades in arms as I have been deployed with the Brits three times. Love them fun to work with but in no way superior to America.

Never read or heard of any soldiers "admiring" the brits. How is any of this facts btw? Soldiers win wars? Wrong the Air Force and Navy do soldiers just clean up. See what a few jdams won't do to a battalion.

If it wasn't for American deterrence Russia would run over Europe and China would do the same to Southeast Asia. If the USA was truly imperialistic, you'd be cleaning my socks right now America could easily enslave any nation but we don't we fund your damn governments and help set everyone on the right track.

While boots on the ground may not win you a war at the very end one of those 'knights of the air' will have to land the plane ( outside said country if they bombed all the airstrips) and dirty their boots by walking in and shooting it out with the last little old man and lady minding their goats&guns and ,formerly, own business.

Sure you can bomb a industrial nation into economic submission by destroying it's vital infrastructure but as Afghanistan, Vietnam and other cases proves you can not convince people of your 'sincerity' to win by bombing them. Wading trough mud and water to shoot at them MAY convince them that you want their land more than they do, and gain you some grudging respect, but bombing people from far wont gain you a ounce of respect without solving long term problems while creating a whole host of new one's.

That being said a 'island nation' can afford to spend it's resources on powerful naval and air forces as that is what is required for it's essential national security needs.

I personally would put the probability of WWIII happening at pretty low. I mean, if it does, it's the end of civilization as we know it. On the other hand, I think it's quite likely that we have continual skirmishes for many many many years such as Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kosovo. These battles will vary in size and may sometimes have multiple participants, but the thread of ending it all looms too ominously.
