During a campaign stop with her husband, a group of volunteers moved into the crowd with microphones for the question-and-answer period. Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) told supporters to look for the people with dark orange shirts.

When Cheney paused as if searching for the words to describe the shade of orange, Lynne Cheney said, "How about John Kerry's suntan?"

The remark drew a big laugh from the crowd and the vice president.

Responding to her comments, Kerry campaign spokesman Bill Burton said, "Is Mrs. Cheney jealous considering how hard it is to get sun in the undisclosed location with her husband Dick? Or is she distracted over how red-in-the-face George Bush (news - web sites) should be considering his failed presidency?"

I loved the Drudge headline...ORANGE ALERT! right above a pic of Kerry's fake tan. I was ROTFLMAO!

Good grief...this could be the turning point of the election!

Cheneys command of perception compared to Kerry's stumbling retort speaks volumes.

I wonder if Kerry's make-up artist is a Republican...

I'd love to see Kerry with bright orange hair to go along with his bright orange tan. Maybe a bright orange pimp suit and some bright orange alligator shoes. I mean, how bad ass would that be?

I think nothing typifies the very fiber of Kerry than his fake tan. This man will do anything to promote himself. He simply has no substance. "I was a war hero before I was a war protestor".

First, Botox, now this!

I've decided he and/or his handlers think the tan will make him look better for the debate tomorrow night. Silly rabbit.....
I also hear he wants the studio set at 70 degrees to keep him from sweating.
I guess he thinks appearance is everything

BTW, I heard one of the pundits asked Al Gore what he would tell Kerry to do before the debates: Gore said prepare, prepare, prepare. How do you do that when you can't make any decision your own????

A lot of people, specifically women, let appearance influence their vote for candidates. I dated a girl that voted for Bush because he was "cute."

I heard many a college coed say that she voted for Bush 41 because Dan Quail was cute.
There are many studies that show that people are influenced by attractiveness. Kerry and his handlers know this, but this time it has backfired, making him look as shallow as a Long Island debutante.

I think it's simply Tanfastic.!

If he fessed up, or talked about it I'd respect him a little more.
But his handlers blamed it on a touch football game..The other players
say he showed up that way..

That's just imature. They should be more worried about the vitiated infrastructer of the innerstreets in American, not Kerrey's tan.

So, that would be why Kerry chose Edwards??? Cuz old Lurch isn't on anybody's good-looking list.
No amount of tanning or windsurfing is gonna left that old boy out.

I guess that goes to show how prevalent the dumbing-down has become. I can't imagine voting for someone because of their looks.

I think you guys are best suited to comment on the candidate for Miss America, not the President of the United States.

I think that is what this election is going to boil down to Kerry has no substance so lets make fun of the tan.The democrats are just making way for Hillary in 2008 anyway.

Speaking of appearances... I hope this isn't a dumb question, but what is the yellow wrist-band (in the picture at top of thread)? Kerry seems to be "accidently on purpose" making a display of it.

Oh, please, the tan is laughable. I'm just waiting for his handlers to decide which color is hairpiece needs to be. It's already gone through some changes since he decided to run.

Considering people have no idea whether or not it's a Photoshop, the only people who can comment on it are the ones that saw him that day. Good luck finding them, but it's amusing feedback for this propagandista seeing people's reaction to a photo of which they have no clue to the origin.

Thank you Curme.

As to the Kerry demanded the debates be at 70 degrees comment DTOM
Methinks you're getting half the story from some rather foxy pundits.

The reason the debates WILL SUCK and they needed all those written agreemnets was Bush/Cheney refused to debate without them.

They got EVERYTHING they wanted, including their demand that the room be no less than 70 degrees because as a Bush strategists was quoted: Kerry sweats. Women don't like sweaters.

So who's really the smarmy, simplistic, shallow minded campaign here?

The one who's candidate got a tan, or the one that thinks that's newsworthy while Americans die in the streets of Iraq.

PS - Teresa Heinz talks funny. There I just saved everyone the trouble of starting the next Politics discussion. :shk:
