By the unanimous consent of all voting lawmakers, Argentina yesterday approved a gender rights package that will allow all adult citizens to change their sex at will — even without undergoing surgery or hormone replacement therapy.
However, should a person opt to make physical changes to their appearance, those treatments will be fully covered by their health care providers, whether public or private.

On public health care? Don't agree with that, public health care should focus their money on life saving treatments, such as desieses and a&e, not on cosmetics, because at the end of it all, a sex change is plastic surgery to make someone appear to be the opposite sex. They will still be a man/woman, but they would just appear to be the opposite sex.
Tax payers money should go to treating people who need the treatment to stay alive, not to people who want to alter their appearences.

I don't mind the law, I'm just wandering if it's right that this be covered by public health care. Unless they are hoping for a low turn out...
Some operations are necessary I guess...but wouldn't it open doors for abuse?

It's their body; they should be able to do as they choose with it.

Good for Argentina. Every thing I've read about this country says it's a very progressive place. Other countries could take a page from their book.

I don't agree with disfiguring the body like that.
Be gay if you want, but I think you should deal with what you were given rather than disfiguring yourself. If you're a man you can never be a real woman anyway, and vice versa.
