We should all aspire to as much.

It's easy to disagree but it takes courage and character to do it with humor and finesse without selling out your principles and still make friends with those holding opposing views.

I was curious this morning to see my last interaction with him...

This is what I found:

www.abovetopsecret.com... (You have to read the next several posts from the link.)

I don't think THAT was actually my last interaction with him, but it was the very FIRST thread that came up in my search when I went to look.

Made my day!!!

CLASSIC discussion with JSO and BH.

He must have planned for this moment.

Sums up his style beautifully.

I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Pain in the ass at times. But my friend all of the time, though we didn't always see eye to eye. I missed him, and will miss him.

Rest In Peace, my friend.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

the same for me, BH. You always knew exactly, and I mean exactly where you stood with him. No gray area.

Didn't always agree with him, as I'm a bit more centrist than he was, or is. But always, always respected him.

It's always a sad day when we loose a member.

Regardless of their tenure here and how they interacted with our membership or staff, they were part of this place. this community & this family none the less.

RIP good Sir.

We have lost so many members lately, one of the sad outcomes of been in a board for so long as a member is to see how our lives interact.

I remember shots, I like him so much too, but he always agree with me, now JS, he was a contradiction to what I always had to say, that make him so hard to forget as a person.

Because I always looked out for that in him.

Now that I have more time to take my time and remember JS, is times when he made me laugh, I can not forget when he tag Dg and me as the "sisters" because he though we were always together getting at him.

But lhe did it in nice and funny way, I think he enjoyed so much our interaction in the boards I think that made him keep on going, darn we try so many times to change his mind, but he was so head strong on his views that it bordered in the funny side and it was hard to be mad at him for long.

People in this boards comes and go, new member join everyday, but the longer you stay as a member interacting almost everyday the more you get attached to others.

I can not stop from getting all emotional about all this now as I read more and more what other member post while remembering JS, specially with Flyers and benevolent herectic.

I love you girls and occurs our male members too we come a long way in our years here in ATS, we are now the old timers, the "seniors".

But I mean this in nice and loving way.

Same here, marg. I am emotional today, remembering Jon. I have cyber friends that mean nearly as much to me as real life friends. My day has been affected by this news, strangely, in a good way. I'm so sorry to see him gone, but he is remembered very fondly by me... someone who used to argue with him daily.
Thinking back to those times years ago reminds me why I loved this place and the people here.

Thanks for the reply, Dg. This should remind us all to be sure someone has our online passwords, or a least write them down somewhere that will be accessed in the case of emergency or death.

The internet has spawned many relationships that may never had been discovered, all within arm's length. However, in cases like this, it reminds us of the real distance between many of us and quite often leaves us out of the loop when something bad happens. We're left to wonder, indefinably, about friends that we care about.

I guess as this site ages along with it's members, we will be seeing more of this through the years. We've all made friends here... A very sad day for ATS. Thanks for letting us know.

It is me or I am having deja vu, how about you Benevolent Heretic in the last three pages I have seen more familiar names that I have seen in the last few years together been bundle up in this thread remembering Js, I am missing Seekerof, Rant (he no longer with us in the board due to career change in politics), byrd, bandit, Thomas Crown (lord and mercy) he was a head strong as JS was, we need to get a thread on all the old times that we have not heard off in a while just to make sure they are ok and doing well.

Last I heard from Rant .. a long while back ... he was either running for office in Georgia or he was on someone's campaign staff there. I have no idea who (probably democrat by the way his politics leaned) and I have no idea where he went after that ...

ETA ... Rant gave me my first applause ...

Yes, he was quite the character, he send me the official site of his campaign, with a nice official looking picture of him, if that was him (I hope) he is a very nice good looking man, very political looking.

But I changed computers three times after that and lost the site and his real name. I have not clue if he won or not.

His last visit was in 2008, he still have the profile up but is been 4 years since I have contact with him.

The info is already in my "in case of death" folder.

It's not just you... I have been perusing old threads that the 'oldies" contributed on... God! What a great time, huh?
This one was a classic for Jon and me (and ceci, of course)
and donwhite, Saphronia, HarlemHottie. I miss them all.

Sadly I try to find if I stepped into the thread but I guess I didn't, This brings one particular name of a member I remember very well, Donwhite, he was the intellectual kind, we U2 for while as he resides in Florida and in the same city my brother live, he used to recommend all kind of historical books and book clubs to me.

I enjoyed his post very much.

I do remember ceci, If my mind doesn't trick me she was trying to have a baby? at the time? if that was her I hope the reason she is not longer we us in ATS is because she is a busy mama.

As for the other girls I can only wonder what happen, perhaps busy lives too.

What happen BH, we just do not participate as we used too in the boards anymore, at least I am not as active, I kind of got tired of the bickering and hot debates that once enjoyed so much.

I am still around but no as much as I used too, I guess as the older and familiar names are not longer opening threads and posting I am not either.

Sometimes I feel that is the same information over and over again.

But we need to do something and start getting busy again, is so much to share and talk about, at least as a tribute of those that are not longer here with us.

So many people missing and some never heard from again. Like Pisky, Mask (what a character!) I used to read Masks' posts over and over for entertainment value
and countless others.

It is good to see so many people gathered on this page that i had not "seen" for quite awhile. When i dont see some for awhile i always wonder.

We have all touched one another's lives in some way
