The average Social Secuirty check for 70 million Americans is 800 bucks a month less than 10 grand a year.

Yep, it should definitely be higher. We need to lift the cap that protects the rich on SS taxes. Maybe we could help out our elderly and disable a bit more instead of leaving them to rot.

How about they help themselves and open and IRA or 401k and become millionaires by the time they retire no never mind make the people who don't use those programs pay for those who do

Yeah that is the right thing to do.

You're kidding, right? There is absolutely no guarantee that a person's 401k will make them a millionaire.

You live in a fantasy world.

What if you live paycheck to paycheck? SS benefits are automatically taken out of your check, a lot of people do not have excess money to put into a 401k. People that paid into SS their whole life aren't entitled to draw from it once they reach 65?

What if one just becomes permanently disabled at a young age? Should they not be able to draw SS? Just let them go crawl in a tunnel and die because they do not have the money to support themselves, in a first world country?

Why aren't you complaining about the military budget? Why are you defending corporate welfare? Corporations that pay no taxes? If you truly had a problem with "parasitical programs" you would complain about all of these equally.

I guess you only hate the ones that may help your fellow citizen.

Right but they will have a better living standard

And there is no guarantee that a person is going to be able to live off of Social Security just ask those 70 million how good their lives are.

One day people will find out just how right i am.

He doesn't care about the poor or elderly.

Read his posts, he cares about me myself and I.

He'd much rather take a dump on the less fortunate than help them out. Throw the money to the casino on wall street, ROLL THE DICE!!!

Maybe they'll get lucky and side with the right thieves and not the wrong ones.

The sad part is that their followers are all over the place on ATS.

The same sad, clueless mooks that would probably be affected the most by a tax increase. If not, they're still a gluttonous lot.

The American political system is a colossal waste of time regardless of which side you stand on.

Because he is a sheep?

And so are the rest of the sheep that support corporate welfare.

Keep lining Cantor's pockets, you bastards. WAKE UP!

How about they make better financial descisions, how about they cut up their credit cards and other senseless spending habits and how about getting a second job. A person's retirement depends on what they put in it and to put money in an account that is gone as soon as they paid it in to the Government and never earns any money.

Short answer put money to work for you.

People that paid into SS their whole life aren't entitled to draw from it once they reach 65?

Who said that weren't?

When people pay into social security it does not keep up with inflation so that means that cash has more value when they first start and when they stop it has less.

What if one just becomes permanently disabled at a young age? Should they not be able to draw SS? Just let them go crawl in a tunnel and die because they do not have the money to support themselves, in a first world country?

How did people ever manage to make before the great entitlement saviors came along?

Why aren't you complaining about the military budget? Why are you defending corporate welfare? Corporations that pay no taxes? If you truly had a problem with "parasitical programs" you would complain about all of these equally.

Why because they have racked up over 120 trillion dollars worth of promises that can never be paid for that has destroyed trillions in sustainable long term wealth creation.

Over 150 million people in this country are getting paid by the tax revenue of others instead of generating their own long term wealth that in turn creates jobs and more wealth that shrinks the need for "social programs" and increases the living standards over everyone in this country and decrease the tax burden on everyone.

Social programs have never done what they were "designed" to do. never created a millionaire or billionaire it just keeps them in a place that is no better than their tomorrows and no better than their yesterday.

Pure enslavement and the fact now there are now more on them than ever the simple fact they can never work beause more people are using them than paying into them.

They do not work the best social program in the world is a damn JOB.

Won't ever happen. Their reelection depends on it. They mess with us and they are outa there. We are big numbers now.

Still we need to rise up and protest this 'entitlement' crap. Welfare and Medicaid are entitlements and limits should be put on them (imo).

Your claims are contradicted by your own posts. In a previous post, you claimed that social security is a terrible thing because workers receive more than they put into it.

Then yo08 turn around and say it's a terrible investment, and say people should put all their money into the stock market, even though thousands lost their ENTIRE 401K in the crash of 08.

SS is meant as a SAFETY NET. Yes, people have a hard time making ends meet on SS. Mainly because of an increase in the cost of living and UNBEARABLE MEDICAL EXPENSES.

lol.

But he will blame government for that, this way he can continue his blind circle jerk.

After all, the poor are stupid and meaningless. Just let em die.

(BTW, he's missing his posse right now. They will reply before long though, always the same people)

neo here is a prime example of "team politics" and whats wrong with America.. Some people dont care about what is right or what maybe best for the American people. They only care about the team ideals and things are chalked up to "taking one for the team".

I just hope people remember his posts when elections come around and he is beating the propaganda war drums.

Same old conservative rhetoric in response to the truth shown here. Next it will be, "Wars are good for business" and "I never got a job offer from a poor person".

How can our country be a beacon for all that is supposed to be good and right in the world if we leave our elderly and poor to rot?

That's not what we are supposed to be about. A 1st world country does not leave their own people to die when it can be prevented.

No

And those Ira's and 401ks have regained their value because people who have no idea of how investment works knows that portfolios rise and fall over the short term but when it comes to the long term such as 3 years the become more valuable.

And of course there are precious metal retirement accounts like Gold that has doubled in price from 2000-2008 and has doubled again and will double yet again within the next 4 years.

Long term such as 50 years those will have more value that some social security account.

But of course people would rather have a pitence they can't touch for 50 years and only get to draw from for less than 10 years and would come in handy if a person ever lost their jobs, became sick or any other need ever arose.

But nope liberals know more than others do its always that way.

a 15 trillion dollar deficit over 120 trillion of promises made on the backs of the next generation and leaving them with a bigger problem than from where we started.

Yeah some people don't care.

Social Security is an entitlement program for the simple fact You pay 6% into that per year the employer pays another 6% which breaks down to someone who is making 35 grand a year means they paid a whopping $2,100 in that year for however long they work. The employer matched that at another $2,100 and yet people get out far more than they ever paid in. That is an entitlement since your getting paid back more than you ever paid in.

2000 per year times 40 years at 3 percent interest is $480,000. I worked more than 40 years and my last full time earning were over 50K per year, sometimes more. From 1996 when I started investing ( and learning a few years with many downturns) I made over 500K.

Do not think for one minute that the gov, does not invest your money. It was totally poor planing on their part.

For a person living from age 66 to 86 that is 24K per year to get it back. This has been a scam and a ponzi scheme to get us to fund their multiple gov. projects/

Oh sir, people care. The poor would love to see you lose the value of your money and become a part of their clan. Why wouldn't they?

you don't give a crap about them anyway. Maybe they will share that old grilled cheese sandwich that was found in the dumpster with you. I bet you'll still be preaching the same rhetoric you are now, all the freedom loving that you are known for.
