Here is a global map of inbreeding rates. The green is where high inbreeding occurs and is culturally accepted (including marriages of fathers to daughters and brothers to sisters), the pink is where moderate inbreeding occurs, and the peach is where inbreeding is considered to be cultural taboo. It is interesting to note that the highest rate of inbreeding in the world occurs in North Africa and the Middle East (traditional Islamic regions). So not only is it OK to have sex with dead people in Islamic countries but apparently its OK to have sex with relatives too. Maybe this is why they're so crazy over there.

Be a lot easier if you just ask someone that you know who comes from the Middle East if they would do such a thing. Then after hearing the answer make your claims and accusations. We have a lot of stupid laws in the US, but you don't see everyone utilizing them.
You can legally sex with a porcupine in Florida, that doesn't mean we are rushing out to do it, does it? Marry your sister or brother in-law?, sure, but does that mean everyone is doing it? We might find it wrong to have sex with a dead spouse, but that's their right, and its their country. When we try to impose our beliefs on others then we have a problem. I wouldn't want another country to force that law upon me in the US, so let them have it their way.

I really hate to slam one group of people, so please, anyone, give me anything positive that the Muslim religion has done for humanity as a whole.

Consider it a challenge.

From a Muslims point of view? Everything. From a Christians point of view? Nothing. That is like asking what Sikhism has done for humanity as a whole.
In my opinion, any and all religion has done nothing but push us further apart as humans. So, like you, I will not slam any one religion or group of people. I will slam us all.

Put it this way, long as its in their country, and its what they choose to make a law, then its their business.
I think we would be highly pissed if they tried to impose their laws in our country.

So governments are wasting time and money debating over laws like this, but they ignore the starvation and war raging around them? We are in for tough times my friends

You are a prime example of what I intend to convey. You seem to assume that because it is "allegedly" a law there now, that we should impose our beliefs by "Turning their country into a parking lot". Have you given any thought to the people who live there who would never dream of performing such an act? Your answer is to just kill them all.
By your standards then, any Muslim culture has every right to attack and attempt to destroy or convert us to their beliefs.
Do I think that the "Alleged" law is moral? No. But I don't think that I have a right to decide on it since I don't live there.
Do I think that any woman who shows her face or legs in public should be killed in the United States? No. And I hope that no other country decides to turn us into a parking lot because of our laws or lack thereof. If you want to @#$! and cry about something, do it about what is done to young woman in those countries, they ARE still alive, and can be helped.

I believe that you are hopelessly misguided my friend, and the way of this world is for morally superior civilizations to overcome and subdue morally inferior civilization. Since you are arguing moral relativism, then what makes my belief that we should turn Egypt into a parking lot less valid than your belief that these people should be allowed to f*ck dead people, Its all relative right? Anyway In the tenets of Islam "the hadiths" state that a Mulsim man can have sex with a woman, man, a child or an animal, even after they die. Even gay sex with a dead man is OK as long as you wash for prayer.

This is beyond sick and bizarre in my book..I understand all cultures are different, but that's just gross and nasty..
It's scary to me that anyone would even want to indulge in necrophilia ..and scarier that someone thought it should be made into law.

Okay, since you are addressing "morally superior civilizations", are you aware that there is no federal legislation specifically barring necrophilia? In your opinion, that gives many other countries who HAVE banned it the right to "Take us off the map" SO, yes, I am arguing moral relativism. Relative to countries where it IS illegal, then WE are savages, and should be overcome and subdued.
But I will try to make it easier to understand, just because we don't have federal laws banning it, I don't think that any other country should be able to make us impose one. Do you disagree?

Also, that is an interesting video, I did almost give up on viewing it until I jumped to the English section. I still say I am glad that is in another country and not here.

They are having some really nasty elections right now in Egypt and a secular party is against an Islamic party, the thread has already proven to be a hoax thread, this is about trying to discredit the Islamic party which are running. I can find no confirmation all over the internet, only one denial after the other about this. As yet there is no official statement in English, only in Egyptian language.

May I ask where you got this map from?
The place where I live (South India) seems to be included in the green region (according to you "where high inbreeding occurs and is culturally accepted".)

In reality there is a very strong social taboo AGAINST inbreeding here... and its far from being "culturally accepted" .... thereby clearly showing the people who made the map either have no idea what they are talking about.

Thank you for the information.

I do see though that this strange request is in actuality a real request - but the Middle East is known for it's anitquated and barbaric / primitiveness. (My own opinion and I know this does not mean everyone over there, only some - most people are nice)

I think the Huffington Post is usually pretty reliable.
www.huffingtonpost.co.uk...

www.hindustantimes.com...

cnews.canoe.ca...

I did see, not in Egypt but in Afghanistan it is a acceptable cultural thing for people to rent out their sons to older men.

www.sfgate.com.../c/a/2010/08/28/INF21F2Q9H.DTL

www.telegraph.co.uk...

And in India (not Middle East) and some other backward countries one can still find families that have arranged marriages between their young daughters and old men.

Marriage and s_ _ should be between two loving consenting adults.

There was another thread on ATS www.abovetopsecret.com... by ollncasino on robots now being thought about (created???) for the purpose of men being able to fulfill this "urge".

I hope I go before my husband - we've been together for 39 years married 38 this June....and finding out about some of these practices make me feel really old. I use to think skinny dipping with your friends was wild!!!!

Seems to me, different cultures, different countries have some pretty strange customs.

As the entire world progresses via internet, satellite TV, etc maybe some of these people (and again it's not all of them, we know some very nice Muslims / no Egyptians) and again you can't judge a whole country by some of it's extremists.

I would just like to see everyone be nice and respectful to everyone else.

We even treat our dogs with respect in our family.

Don't like seeing anyone treated disrespectfully.

But if you do Good Search (I don't Google) - Good Search will give your favorite charity a penny for every search, you will find yes the women in Egypt are fighting against this law.

When I told my husband about this he looked at me and said, I love you but boy, yuk, some people are really strange......

Some parts of the globe are becoming more modernized faster than others.

Remember in Egypt the royal families would marry brother to sister

I do hope however this is a hoax, but some people are strange.

To lighten up this ghastly thread I thought I would add a fitting song.

I did Good Search the demonstrations over in Egypt now and sadly, like many places they are in turmoil and violent uprising................so sad to me when people are so mean to each other.

Why can't people just be nice to each other?

Again, thank you for the links and information.

People like you I suppose will believe what they want regardless of who says anything concerning it.

You quoted Huffington post as reliable, yet wont even publish comments made by Egyptians who deny the existence of this "law" twitter.com...#!/TheMiinz/status/195818895645487104

Menna منّة ‏ @TheMiinz Follow
" Comments on necrophilia law rumor: Egypt's rev is a ''mistake''.Not going to explain anything, since Huff Post refuse to publish my comments"

Tunisia Alive has ran a story denying the existence of this as well

"Egyptian political activist Ahmed Zahran of the party Tayar Masry, or “Stream,” says that at least one of them does not exist. 'There is no law and no draft,' he said over the phone, speaking about the rumor that MPs were considering making necrophilia legal."

www.tunisia-live.net...

The Mail Online has now retracted their story and is denying any truth to it after official confirmation was given from the Egyptian Embassy in London:

"But sources inside the Egyptian Embassy in London have said the claims were 'completely false', 'forbidden in Islam' and 'could never imagine it happening'."

www.dailymail.co.uk...

And Egyptian Bloggers have stated categorically such rumors are false:

"Now after little research it turned out that this is rumor was started by Egypt’s Glenn Beck aka Tawfik Okasha who hates the Islamists just as he hates the revolution. This is a rumor... I really wish people to be careful on what they are spreading."

egyptianchronicles.blogspot.com...:+Egypti anChronicles+%28Egyptian+chronicles%29

This is a non issue, it is nothing more than a lie which spread like wild because of everyone's innate Islamaphobia... I really wish ATS would label this thread a hoax thread already because this is exactly what this story is! Any news outlet who prints this story is after money, they want people buying their papers and this story they believe will sell them... you are not purchasing journalistic integrity!

The only thing that was discussed in Parliament was a law allowing girls to marry as young as 14, you can be outraged about that if you like, but currently it is only proposed, and is being protested at this time, so it is not yet law.

Although, if you would like to complain about this law, then realize that with parental consent in America young girls can marry as young as 15 in some states with parental consent, and no marriage in egypt happens without parental consent. In many states in America with judicial approval youth can marry as young as 14.

So there is not very much age difference here between the proposed law in Egypt and American law. And as there is some protest from women's groups in Egypt we do not know if this law will pass.
