I'm a newbie to these forums, but i can see that 90 percent of members are liberals that hate Bush. Is there anyone here that, like myself, actually likes President Bush? Just curious. Thanks...

Well, I'm a libertarian, and I didn't vote for Bush in 2000.

But I believe his heart is in the right place, and I know what his views are.

Kerry, on the other hand, frightens me; i haven't a clue about his stance on a bunch of things, and he's much more comfortable talking about his Vietnam medals than important stuff, like what he's done as s US Senator over the past 20 years.

I consider both Bush and Kerry to be just two different sides of the same corporate fascist welfare-warfare statist coin; but....

When Bush is re-elected (and although I'm not planning on voting for him, I think he will be re-elected), we will see a lot of federal judgeships available and even a couple of SCOTUS people retiring; I think Bush would nominate people who are much more strict constructionists than Kerry would.

Just that right there would almost make me vote for Bush.

Almost.

I would like to see a candidate that would be a mixture between Bush and Kerry and possibly someone with some smarts too. In hind site, just think of what the US could do if we had devoted over 200 billion dollars a year to kicking the oil habit instead of spending it on the war in Iraq. We might have been able to accomplish some of the same things by robbing Sadam of oil funds.

Although after thinking about that, if the US no longer needed foreign oil, we would plunge other oil producing countries into chaos as the price of oil collapsed. That doesn't necessarily bother me that much though.

My personal opinion is that the president is just a figurehead and the real power of government cannot be controlled by that individual. The real powers that be are part of something our votes cant change.Just my opinion.

What's a 'liberal,' besides a handy word used by pundits to describe anyone who doesn't support the Bush administration 100%?

I was raised to be a conservative, and a republican, always voted the straight ticket. Thanks to Bush Jr. I just registered as a Democrat for this years elections.

Might go back in 4 years though depending on the candidates.

Been one since Congress shafted Nixon. I was only 9 at the time. If you want to know how I really feel politically, click here! It's all in a nutshell!

I love it when people vote.

Question: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner and is running at you while screaming obscenities. In your hand is a .357 Magnum and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?

Liberal Answer: Well that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that is inspiring him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me or would he just be content to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for a few days to try to come to a conclusion.

Conservative Answer: BANG!

Only later do you find out that this was a local butcher that had cut off his thumb, and was running to the hospital.

You are now a convicted Felon, and luckily no longer allowed to vote, carry a gun, or have freedom from such things as the patriot act.

defcon5,

You are sooo witty! Why didn't I think of that! Maybe it's because, if you cut off your thumb, and you're running to the hospital, instead of putting pressure on the severed thumb with your other hand, you're going to be running with the knife in it.

That is the proper way to do things folks!

Maybe hes like one of those guys that chokes on a pretzel in a room full of secret service agents and hits his head on a coffee table.

I'm an independent who finds Bush's lack of interest in the world around him, his misunderstanding of how things work, and the people he has chosen for his administration troubling at best.

I will not be supporting Bush for re-election, and I wish him to be soundly defeated.

Democracy in America is in trouble, though, and it's both parties fault.

The Republicrats have tightened their grip on this country, and not in the interest of the American people. And when America's leadership is bad, the world is in trouble.

We need help.

I like Bush as president! I believe he is a mans man, and can make correct decisions even if they are unpopular, something Kerry could never do.

The more I read though, the more I could see myself becoming a Libertarian... I love the "live-let live" mindset they have towards government restrictions on citizens, Unfortunatly, I will never vote for them as long as they have no chance at winning. In reality, I would be throwing my vote away if I did this, and I can't stand Democratic beliefs so much that I could not allow my vote to not go towards a more conservative person.

BTW Intelearthling - there is a different version of that joke, it goes something like this:

I would.

I supported the war, all that stuff, still do. I think hes done a pretty crappy job, and has done some pretty crappy other things. for me, really, its a problem of hes got good ideas, he just sucks at doing them. i was a real big fan of his go to mars thing, but that met the same fate. at least that vanished, and wasnt botched.

the democrats, or whatever you wanna call his opponents, are the opposite. they can get stuff done, just the stuff is never really meaningful. very often, their 'plan' is way too short term. they take the long term into consideration, but the short-longterm, what about the long-long haul?

in summary: id be better than all of em. theyre fun to make jokes about though
