The Prison Industrial Complex

Prisoners should work like any one. The pay they earn should be given back to the Prison to pay for boarding , food , necessities , and legal fees. Makes COMPLETE sense. You commit a Crime , you go to JAIL and you still have to work.

I like it.

Take the burden off the tax payers as much as possible , and make the prisoners work for their stay in prison.

You can house me but you can not force me to work for your prison as I have done nothing wrong to merit my existence in your prison.

Just as you can not force me to eat your food, you do not decide if I work.

I have known guys to make a lot of money behind bars. Packages come in over the fence, packages come in through the guards, packages come in through psychiatrists. These people running the prisons are just as corrupt as the ones they police. Guards doing a 3am wake up call bustin heads in the cell because they got their own personal beef with an inmate. Guards hit inmates with trumped up charges, get them sent to solitary.

Just as the C.O. a few posts above me was writing I can already pinpoint subtle things he has said that express his racist tendencies. Now I am not saying he IS a racist but the job of a C.O. is much like a cop, you become numb to a lot of the things you see and become very intolerant and aggressive in different scenarios where the first few years on the job you may have been a little more level headed.

I dont know what it will take to reform the prison system, the prisoners won't be reformed under the current guidelines. Its a big JOKE. And the average America citizen is the butt end of the joke because they are the ones who have to live and interact with convicted felons sometime throughout their lives, and you might not enjoy that very much.

Isn't that when the 3 strikes law came into effect? I'm thinking it is, and there have been abuses of it.I'm against any prison that is not government run. I'm sorry but if the government put them in there, then it needs to run it.Not a corporation that is making a profit on the prisoners. Anytime money comes into a scene there is corruption.

er its prison, its not supposed to be fun. damn right they should work to pay for the prison.
prisons here in the uk do nothing to deter criminals. they dont work whilst inside, they are given tvs and games consoles for their cells and are even educated in a trade all for free, wonderful

Once again, great subject/presentation.

The for-profit private prison industry, coupled with the war on consciousness (er... drugs), has created a ravenous beast consuming lives at a rate most people don't comprehend.

There is even an industry using poor and/or addicted people to "snitch" on others to help feed the prison beast.

Putting people in a dungeon to get starved, beaten and raped for a transient decision to ingest some substance to make their daily life more bearable or, god forbid, to explore states of mind is completely, stupidly evil.

Letting formerly socialized, loving people back out into our already sick society will have consequences for all of us.

If you think this won't effect you, you are gravely mistaken.

for-profit private prisons shouldnt even exist, their entire business is to hold criminals so there is no desire for them to rehabilitate the inmates, if anything its in the interest of these prisons to encourage crime, and this is just plain wrong

these prisons are made for black and brown people. there can be a city thats 90% white and 10% brown races while the prison in that same town would be 90% brown races and 10% white. tptb do this to uphold white supremacy. although i truly believe tptb are using brown and white bodies, reptilians! the brown races were the original inhabitants of the planet and they want them disconnected to the spirit at all cost.

No one here seems to want to comment on your post, but as someone who has actually been to prison I gave you a star for your post. I am probably one of the few people that have been incarcerated for a long sentence that the system was successful in forcefully removing head from ass...and yes it was painful (no pun intended) to rearrange my world view, which required a radical paradigm shift. It is my nature to be a truth seeker, and the truth that I found was not a comfortable one as I had to come to terms with the reality that most white people are sheltered from. I believed that by propagating large amounts of '___' that I was doing society a favor, that I was helping to "deprogram" people. Never did the thought occur to me that maybe it was I that had been programmed, until I began to research into the MK ultra program...but I digress.
Not all C.O.'s are bad people, just trying to make a living like everyone else, and in allot of these small towns where the prisons are located, that's where most of the residents work. Though I believe that prisons are an epic failure, not because they are too strict, but because they are not strict enough. The recidivism rate of ex-felons is not because of the failure of the system, but because of the failure of the human garbage incarcerated. I am glad that I was born with enough natural psychological strength to confront my own deficits of reasoning and change my behavior. Unfortunately most who are locked away are not born with this higher reasoning capability. People complain allot in this country about the amount of prisons, never giving credence to the truth that the lack of prisons in other country's indicates one of two things, less crime rate because of higher white populations, or the fact that they don't rely on incarceration for punishment, but rather punish in...more sever ways.
I believe that most people who exist in the system deserve to be there or worse, and the leeches like illegal immigrants and career welfare recipients should be locked away in a work camp as well. Call me callous, but reality made me this way.

As a veteran who spent the last 23 years in the New York State prison system working in places like Attica and Greenhaven I can honestly say that most of the inmates in our jails are not there for petty crimes and few have been innocent when convicted like many on this site seem to believe. If you could spend some time inside the wall with these animals and really know what some of them are in for, you'd be thankful there are so many prisons.

Your take on "brown people" could be said about any population of stupid people... you see, stupid people come in all colors, and when you mix stupid with economic exploitation and lack of education you get what you experienced in prison and most experience in the non gated communities.

But I think you know this already on some level.

Anyway, here's hoping that big brain of yours takes pity on the stupid of all races and creeds, eventually. Sorry you were incarcerated as I probably found your '___' enjoyable at some point (in moderation).

The idea that tends to bolster the idea of a slave labor force of prisoners is the lengthy sentences handed down nowadays for the pettiest of crimes. Stuff that used to be misdemeanors in my youth are now felonies. Three strikes, life sentences without parole, no death penalty. Remember when they used to be overfull and let prisoners out early? Now they seem to want to keep them long as possible.

Scary thing in my mind is the idea that if America was ever to actually rise up and revolt one of TPTB defenses (or rewards) for that will be to arm them and let em all loose on the citizenry. Just like they did in Libya. Any revolt will be quickly diffused if we were all to be fighting roving gangs of armed criminals.

The Nazis did that too in the lands they conquered. Put the worst criminal elements in charge of the prisoners. Can you imagine Fema Camps being run by the likes of Manson or Brevik?

Mandatory minimum sentencing has made a huge contribution to prison population. Decriminalize drug laws. Focus on rehabilitation. The system is perpetrated by the current design. We are at the mercy of the system.

In response to your statement, I also don't see a problem with prisoners working. What I do have a problem with is a prison labor force working for wayyy wayy below minimum wage for fortune 500 companies who simply want the cheapest labor. That is wrong. Even if their wages went back to the prison, it wouldn't house our huge prison population for an hour.

I'm not going to call you callous, I'm going to call you racist. I am surprised your posts have not been deleted with the racial supremacy undertone. One only needs to look at your posts and then your signature to understand what your about. I've been there too, I understand you do what you need to do to survive. Which when in prison is joining your race and joining the gang. This does not correlate with the outside world though, you have blacks/browns/reds/yellows that you aren't beefing with on the outside. You need to get help on your institutionalization because your talking like your still in the pen.

There are a lot of blacks inside, they run the jails. This does not mean they are inferior to white people, because a higher percentage of them are being locked up daily. There are a lot of key factors that contribute to the higher number of African american/Hispanic jail pop. And either way you look at it, you can be against them your whole life or learn to co-exist. I'm not talking about marrying outside of your race, but understanding that we are all the same.

Your in maximum facilities, what do you expect. The premise of the post is that many people are being locked up for possession charges. Many people do county time for suspended licenses, etc. Victimless crimes. Of course when your in the feds your dealing with double/triple homicides, your dealing with child molesters, your dealing with arsonists. Your going off course with your opinion Barney

I think this sums it up. I'm still on ATS because I'm getting lots of stars for my posts, I'm just stating what allot of people here on ATS are thinking but are to afraid to say it for fear of getting kicked off, they already tried that with me. Its easy to redirect your IP and start a new account. Or maybe their keeping me on just long enough to let ZOG agents compile a dossier on me. As for multicultural, liberalism of this sick society this is what I think of it. Today white children are taught to embrace the cultures and values of other races, with no allowance for the implication that this multiculturalism will result in the obliteration of our own culture. Any criticism of this policy or expressing pride in ones heritage results in a societal reprimand, even by one’s own kin. Though other races are encouraged to militantly express pride in their own heritage and separate themselves from society, both in their own racially segregated neighborhoods and businesses. This double standard is apparent everywhere and can be witnessed in many regions of North America, Western Europe, and Australia. Whites can no longer go to neighborhoods once built and populated by whites but now overrun by foreigners, not only for fear of being attacked for “being in the wrong neighborhood”, but also because many of these neighborhood have established businesses that cater only to those who speak the language of the foreigners, and make no attempt to display goods in the national language. Though you go into businesses in predominantly White neighborhoods and goods are commonly displayed in multiple languages out of courtesy.
Likewise in North America, Europe, and Australia the non-White immigrants have been granted their own television stations, though television stations specifically catering to White values and culture are non-existent, and any attempt at establishing one would most assuredly be deemed racist.
