Why would Cleveland be on HIGH alert when the rest of the country is on ELEVATED?

I wonder if this is just a mistake? If so you would think someone would wanna fix it.

"Current HSAS Level - ELEVATED"

It's on elevated, or yellow.
Where are you getting "high?"

If you follow the link above it is orange which is HIGH. At least it is for me.

Current HSAS Level - HIGH
(High Risk of Terrorist Attack)
Definition: Credible intelligence indicates that there is a high risk of a local terrorist attack but a specific target has not been identified.

Someone on our AM news radio station WTAM 1100 pointed it out on the air..

I swear to god that it is still on high for me and I did hear it on the radio here. I just checked it. If there is anyone else in the Cleveland area who can confirm this please do. I thought it was mistake to but if you all are seeing elevated and I'm seeing high, I'm a little concerned. By the way I don't do drugs and I don't drink so.

Anyway, I'll let it go. I wouldn't have started this thread if I wasn't seeing it. I have been a member on this board for awhile and I rarely post so I apologize if I freaked anyone out...

Can you take a screenshot of what you're seeing, sicdawg?

That's interesting if you're seeing a different level than the rest of us, bears looking into.

Sorry sicdawg, I was just having a little fun. I did not mean to cast aspurtions upon you or the veracity of your claim.

Sometimes I use humor in inappropriate situations.

Pay no attention to the phreak in red tights.
We now return you to your regular programming.

I usually use Mozilla Firefox so when I used IE to try to take a screenshot for you all it was in fact on elevated. I went back to it on Firefox and it is still on high so it is probably the browser. It's one of the nightly builds. I've never had to take a screenshot so I was lost and still am. Anyway, sorry for the false alarm.

What do you mean, 'for you'? Cut and paste the section of the page you linked to that says 'High Alert"

and I did hear it on the radio here.

Did they say 'under high alert' or 'the federal governement raised clevelands alert status to Orange or High Alert'? Some cities have their own alert system that mimics the national one too, like NYC.

I just checked it. If there is anyone else in the Cleveland area who can confirm this please do. I thought it was mistake to but if you all are seeing elevated and I'm seeing high, I'm a little concerned. By the way I don't do drugs and I don't drink so.

It's cool. I thought it was funny. I know Cleveland has a rep.

As far as the radio station, I've emailed them and pointed to this thread so hopefully they can clear up their part as that is the only reason I checked into this. I know I know, Wishful thinking...

I've had enough of this crap, quite frankly, i think this climate of fear is breeding a perpetual cycle of ignorance.

From 1998 to 2003 there have been only 6 attacks in North America; in that 6 year span - outside 9/11 - there has not been a single loss of life.

Whoa!
That chart should tell somebody somthing! Like somebody's doing their job in North America and these other continents are just laxing in theirs.

Good find. Never paid any attention.

I live in the city and just happen to work for it. I will check around and ask some questions. So far I have heard nothing about a high alert but I have seen an uncanny amount of helicopters in the air today.

I'm sitting here with the same site open in two windows. In the IE window it is ELEVATED. In the Mozilla Firefox window it is HIGH. Can anyone tell me how this can happen?

I opened the site in Firefox, and it only says elevated. Are you using the newest version of Firefox? I am using .9.3..........

Sounds like you may have somekind of a browser bug. Didn't you say you ran the latest version of Firefox, something about a nightly build. May have been a problem in that nights build.

I looked at the source of the page, BTW, It shows elevated for me here in IE, and it doesn't seem that they are using any kind of constantly linked variable. The text you see is in the source.

If this page is auto generated on each hit, then perhaps your version of FF is handling the variable differently. The page is done in Javascript, so it's not an IE/ActiveX/VB script problem. It would seem to be more of a Java Script VM problem in your build of FireFox.
