earthsky.org...

Snowstorms, tornadoes, flooding and droughts in 2011 have affected millions and cost billions. Here’s the list so far from the National Climatic Data Center.

wow look at that spike in disasters in recent years and as time progresses overall!

what could be causing that stark increase?? and what will ultimately be the most profound event our planet ever experiences since its inception?

Imagine the ammount of natural disasters that have occurred all over the earth since the dawn of time.

It is only in recent history that we can document and compare results so, realistically there is nothing substantial to compare any 'spikes' or 'decreases' in natural events except for recent history

Another informative, well thought out thread from yet another new member. Youtube Video: Check. Minimal input with own thoughts: check. Next to no text except for quote: check. But you only got 2 stars mate, maybe try again in a different forum.

Give this BS a rest.

IS it totally necessary for there to be at least one A hole in every thread??
Seriously?

Thanks OP for the thread.
I was going to tell you to look out cuz you're about to get flamed.
I knew someone would be here soon with the tired ass worn out old line "It's not inreasing, it is just that it gets reported more now" or "it's not increasing, it's just that we haven't been monitoring these things for long enough... blahh blahh blahhh" or some other such nonsense. I just didn't think it would be within the first couple of posts.

All of those tride and true standard lines are great for appealing to the weak of mind but,
I don't ignore what my eyes see!!!!

I have been on this planet for almost 40 years and I can tell you that the # is getting out of hand compared to the previous several decades as far as the weather goes! IF you need to believe otherwise I understand, I truely do. I don't like it any more than anyone else does but here the F it is.

We are right here smack dab in the middle of some MAJOR Earth changes and who can blame people for not wanting to see it or deal with it.
Just don't be a D*** about it.
Can people make a comment without being a complete condecending smart ass for once???

Personally, I feel that the overall AWARENESS that people have gained because of things such as the internet, alternative media forms/sources, youtube, etc...are contributing to the physical changing world.

Collectively people are becomming more aware of the collective world in a simultanious fashion. Information travel is now almost instant and allows for the pereception of "events" in a simultanious fashion.

The following is highly speculative but this is what I have become to believe:

The collective conscious can bring about reality or create reality when a specific "subject" or target is held in the collective conscious. "Disasters" are more common because they are more commonly thought about thus the collective consciousness of "disasters" is creating...more disasters and this "reinforces" or "validates" the belief behind "increasing disasters" and so on and so forth in a "upward/downward spiral".

Much like negative thoughts can create and manifest more negative thoughts and problems. An example would be: "I eat because I'm fat and I'm fat because I eat".

We see more disasters because they are increasing, and they are increasing because we see them more (more aware of them collective consciousness co-creation).

The more AWARE we are of something the more power that "something" has to manifest itself in reality.

Because of things such as the internet and how easy and quick it is to disseminate information "HYPE" can build very quickly aka "Viral". Things such as 2012, global warming propaganda, documentaries etc...are all enterting more peoples consciousness quicker than ever before more people are thinking about the SAME thing MORE often than ever before...

This for most this a "no duh" thing however many people refuse to acknowledge that this simple "no duh" thing can actually have a physical effect on the world around us. I disagree....Think about "The war against terrorism" and how it started from a single "event" and spread virally through the masses as FEAR and as more people became "AWARE" and concerned with the concept of "terrorism" our phisical world started to change. TSA, Patriot Acts, Surveillance, PHYSICAL wars in Afghanistan and Iraq...This all came about because a COLLECTIVE consciousness that became aware and focused on a single idea or thought "terrorism".

This turned into a much longer post than I initially wanted but its hard to express this idea without a lot of emphasis.

Basically the collective consciousness and co-creation coupled with instant wide spread information (internet) is responsible for the increase in disasters that we are seeing and creating.

I was actually going to start a thread with prety much exactly what you've just said.

Its essientally our own awareness of what is going on around the world instantly is waking people up.
Thank you internet.

What you say is most definitely true and I agree!!

With that said though.... I want to also turn the perspective a little bit.

According to prophecies (whichever you deem credible) there comes a "time" when we are collectively knowing one way or another. Meaning.... internet and tv bring us real time news and we are to KNOW with real time news what is going on globally. The many prophecies I've read indicate this.

It is possible the Human Species is evolving to a point where we have reached a final destination and tipping point if you will.

History always repeats itself... have any of you ever noticed that?

Once upon a time there was technology had by the human species. It ended because they were irresponsible with the knowledge given. BAM! Wiped out and sent back to the dark ages.

truth be told, science really doesn't know a great bit about what the earth does nor why. they can look back in fossil records, ice core samples and so forth but that tells them very little comparatively speaking.

they know the earth goes through changes, sometimes big ones, sometimes small ones, some are faster than others. they have no idea why nor what effect hit has on the ecology.

one that sticks out though would have to be the plight of the mammoth. here is an animal that was frozen with green plants still going down it's throat, when you can answer that one, let me know.

The mammoth one is simple and the answer has been known for years. Fringe authors just like to ignore this answer because it destroys a key piece of "evidence" for their theories. What happened is the mammoth that is claimed to be flash frozen in truth died when it wandered into a mud pit. This in turn preserved the mammoth. A similar phenomenon can be seen with bog mummies. This is how you have a well preserved mammoth with food still in its stomach. It has nothing to do with climate change or global catastrophes.

if you believe that, i do not subscribe to that theory, along with many scientists, but by all means if Xcalibur254 on ATS says so, it must be solved right?

Actually the world of science has confirmed that this mammoth was not "flash frozen." The people that continue to promote this flash frozen myth never tell you the full story. They make it sound like the mammoth was in pristine condition. In truth the body was badly decayed. To quote Weber from his 1980 article "The excavators found the stench of the partially rotted Berezovka mammoth unbearable; even the earth in which it was buried stank." There's also clear evidence of predation that occurred before freezing. Then there's also the fact that if such an event occurred that caused mammoths to become flash frozen one would think that we would have found more than four specimens that are more or less intact.

Yes, I'd say at least TWO A holes in every thread. And it always seems to be the same two, backing each other up. Just something I've observed.
No names mentioned of course.

OP. Yes it is getting "buck wild." I've been listening to Terence McKenna for a good few years now, and can safely say that his theory is very credible indeed. I was sceptical at first, but after hearing his theory, and then seeing it play out in real-time, there is no doubt (in my eyes) that he was definitely on to something.
Terence McKenna has explored realms most people aren't even capable dreaming of, and is one of the most intelligent people who's ever lived.

I don't post here much, but I read a lot, and observe the world with interfering as little as possible.
My advice. Trust your direct experience over anything you're told, or read (especially from people on here who spend most of their time trying to convince other members that nothing is going to happen in 2012).
I wonder why they put so much time and effort into "debunking" some crazy fairy tale. Very strange.

Peace.

Because 2012 theories have the potential to be very dangerous. If you go with the EOTW theories then you will have numerous people killing themselves and their loved ones. We've seen this happen in the past with doomsday predictions including ones like Harold Camping's that were widely lampooned by even fringe circles. On the other hand you have the New Age/ascension theories. These have people believing the world will fix itself thus they're not doing anything to help fix the problems they see. Then when 2012 comes and goes with no mass ascension they will become disillusioned and believe that nothing can fix the world so they will continue to be apathetic. These are the reasons I try to get people to see the truth about 2012. It's true that the world will change in 2012. Just as it changes every year and every day. However if people actually want the problems of the world to fixed they actually need to do something about it. They can't just sit around waiting for some cosmic reset button to be pushed.

The truth is that most people don't even have evidence to support their belief in 2012. I have posed the question a number of times on here and the vast majority of people said the reason they believe something will happen in 2012 is because it gives them hope. They don't cite Mayan prophecies, TWZ, or world events. It simply comes down to the fact that the world is broken and it becomes a little more bearable to live in it by believing that something will come along and fix everything. If people took al the effort they put into defending the beliefs in 2012 into actually fixing the world then this year actually could mark the beginning of a global change for the better. Unfortunately people would rather complain and hope than act.

A second term for Obama? Oh the humanity.

Seriously though. These natural disasters are ramping up at a frightening pace. Who knows what the future holds.
