Watching TV for a little bit today and was surprised to see these four movies on the same channel one after the other.

Starting out with:

The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Then:

Armageddon

Thennn!:

The Day After Tomorrow

And Yes Last But Not Least:

2012!!!

Im Not trying to fear monger but I thought this was Interesting.

Interested to see what you all think.

8 hours of TV? dang man.
all kidding aside, yes, that does seem very odd!

Conditioning?
All 4 movies promote global "cooperation" in ways that undermine American Sovereignty.
Or it could just be "end of world" theme day.
maybe the programming director was just lazy.

What channel was this? Sure it wasn't disaster movie day?

Either way I think there's nothing wrong with this.

We need to cooperate globally...
It's you who has been conditioned that Americans are the best and everyone else needs to stay out of our business. And really, we're the ones who are butting into other people's business.
We're all the same species.

It was on FX and I wish I had time to watch 8 hrs of tv. Clicked it on to see what was on and noticed this. I usually dont watch TV. Which is why I found it Interesting.

It's clearly intentional and not due to lazy programming. They do that type of thing all the time, where they play movies of a certain theme all day. It's nothing astonishing.

Surely this kind of programming is responding to the fact that people want to think about possible disasters, find them interesting
If we use it as a reason for thinking about possible disasters, the whole thing is becoming a circle..

I don't think it's any more odd than the seeming months and months and..ahem..MONTHS that The History Channel ran on a World War II Nazi kick years ago. You'd think nothing else of note had ever happened. lol.... Then another channel will have a day of themed space movies or whatever...

I think it's just the channels knowing it's 2012 and even someone on a desert island has probably heard from a note in a bottle that he ought to be worried about something.

I'll bet we see more and more of this as Dec approaches but just for playing fears to ratings. I don't think it's any message or help to wake anyone up. Not from media.

FX has those movies on a lot. Especially 2012. They've had that one on a lot lately.

Probably because *gasp* it's the year 2012.

It's all about marketing my friend.

That's Hollywood for ya.

While I can appreciate what you are saying because I've also questioned this.
In reality I think they are just trying to capitalize on whats trendy....anything for the ratings....
Thnx for the post

A local news channel recently accidentally had 3 minutes of gay porn interrupt their broadcast...

Possibly more disturbing than this thread's story.

Oh, eight hours of terrible movies. Enough to make you want the world to end.

Nah I did enjoy Armageddon. Day after tomorrow is good to kill time, and 2012 is just horrible. Good effects though.
