Something strange above Melbourne

Hi guys. This is my first thread on these boards, been waiting for something to come along to make my first, and i may (or may not) have something.. If any Melbournians noticed this, feel free to chime in..

On Friday evening (20/04), around 17:55, i was on my way to pick up my step-son from footy training, driving east along Childs Rd, when i noticed a strange light in the sky ahead. Now i know a little about star/planet positions at this time of year and i'm damn sure it wasnt Mars or Venus, or Jupiter (tho i could be wrong and stand corrected if i am).

What i noticed first up was what i thought was a very short contrail. It kinda looked like an upside-down V. From my view-point it was probably about 30 deg up, and quite a distance away.
I managed to pull over and get 2 shots on my iphone, tho we all know the iphones zoom is carp.
I got the 2 shots, one zoomed, the other normal, then noticed at the apex of this upside-down V was a very bright light. I moved my car, hoping for a clearer vantage point, but when i looked for said object it was gone.

Not sure what to make of it, and have included pics (if i can inset them.. n00b at posting..

May need a decent pic viewer. I used paint to circle the object/s. With my screen, i couldnt see anything straight on, but looking down at the screen i got a clearer image.
Play around, let me know what you find guys.
It was interesting, whatever it was.....
Oh, and i do know about planes and flight paths, i live right under one. Wasnt a plane as this was stationary for the 5 ish mins i was in traffic and watching it..

congratulations, you've just found some more clouds; however if it was a light, it would be venus. It's the brightest "star" in the sky and comes out that time of night (usually the first one that you can see and usually the brightest)

you gotta start somewhere........yeah.

I see clouds, and here's a neet trick for you, the small clouds can be made to disapear.

Select small cloud, i meana really small one and just fix it with your eyes and
stare.............The cloud will obey oblingeingly and fade out!

I've read about these newly discovered objects..Science has deemed them clouds..Clo u d s..very scientific stuff..glad to see someone actually got one on film!!

Even when the picture is enhanced it still looks more like clouds than anything else.

Try looking, for want of a better way of saying it, behind the "clouds" i have circled. There IS something there. If i had a better program for picture enhancement i would prove it... It's an iPhone3.. pics are never good to begin with...

Sheesh, it's the attitude of above posters that is bringing the quality of this site down.
Like Cran above said, normally it's pics or it didn't happen...
I provided pics as best i could, and all i get is derision...

Hi. Loved your pics. Difficult to tell exactly what it is though. Never mind the naysayers on here. Keep looking up and keep posting. If there is something out there, it will be the likes of you and me who will get the proof. The authorities will never release it - so please keep posting.

If there is something behind the clouds then the device you used to take the pics limits any decisive conclusions. The images you offered were zoomed via your photo editing software, not the camera. Without having a definable object to see (due to image quality), one should be able to understand the responses given so far. The comments are merely conducive to the photographic quality provided.

I am also from Australia, does not change anything, i'm not saying it is a cloud though. The pictures that have been posted are very hard to analyze and to me it looks like a cloud. I am no expert

I understand what other peeps see, and looking straight on at the screen i only see clouds too.
I don't know, i know there is something there, will see if i can find some decent software to bring it out.
Note: i am not saying UFO... i hate those 3 letters.. just... something...

It shifted on me, the picture, right where you circled, went darker in flash with a sense of movement, then went to the more nondescript one. I found that interesting.

Dude I read this post weeks ago and thought nothing of it, until today,I hope you check this thread MAY 10 I was heading north on Dalton rd I think you would know it and saw a meteor that had entered our atmosphere, when I got to work 7am my boss and co worker observed at least 20 of the things you where describing they where to the east with the sun we wathch for at least about an hour and a half I think it's a warning! Did anyone Elsa see

Very interesting, so multiple people seen these and it lasted over an hour? Have you heard of anything on the news at all?

But thats what you saw an unidentifide flying object(U.F.O.). It doesnt have to mean alien space craft. What are you supposed to call it if you dont know what it is? People need to quit connecting UFO with everything alien because thats not always the case.

Can you please explaine what you mean here? What do you mean it shifted on you? Are you saying the picture of the strange cloud changed shape?

Nothing on the msm at all very strange but it wasn't that obvious unless you were watching them it only caught my eye as one entered our atmosphere it looked like a comet a ball and tail as bright as lightning as it went from east to west across my wind screen then I just kept watching the sky to the east at sunrise may 10 2012 and what we saw was almost scary. It also seemed as if all passenger airlines were flying at a very low altitude that morning also???? WE ARE BEING LIED TO!!!

I sawem again this morning come one Melbourne , someone eles watch the sunrise they are there if it's a clear morning
