Cyber Crime?

Recently myself and a close friend in the UK were hacked by the same individual. I know it was the same person because he posted personal information in chatrooms about us. Also took pictures (jpeg) that were on my pc and hers and uploaded them to the internet. My adress book and contacts that were stored there was also siezed by this person.
I would not be as upset if I were not a parent, and the safety of my family is my first priority.
I reported the incident and was told that my info was sent here www.cert.org....
I use diffrent messengers, Yahoo! being one of them to keep in contact with friends etc...
Can your pc be hacked with a updated Firewall?
Also this is being done while logged in to chatrooms, we can be discussing anything from the upcomming Presidental Election to salad dressing. Then all of your personal info is posted in a chat.
I am through with chatrooms all together.
It used to be a place to learn , talk to people from all over the planet, now the safety of my family is one more thing to worry about. Yea i'm done...

Sounds like you have a Trojan on your computer, download a problem called spy-bot search and destory, post how many it finds

www.grisoft.com... AVG Antivirus (removes trojans/virii)
www.lavasoftusa.com... Spyware removal

These two programs might help ya out of a jam...

Thanks for both responses, but I have spyboy, an updated Norton Virus scanner and now I use Sygate Firewall...
This freind's PC is being Hacked the same way. But I will pass the message along to her
I know there are ways they can get into a PC with netstat, is there a way to block a IP addy also other info that may be useful for a hacker?

Also try getting zone alarm it pretty much detects everything incoming and outgoing.
