A T-38 Talon chase jet is a two seat trainer version of the F-5 supersonic twin engine fighter, used in the movie Dragnet with Tom Hanks and Dan Aykroyd when they escorted the bad guy to land, distinguished by its long pointy nose and small wing profile and also the chase plane for Shuttle landings. It was the world's first supersonic trainer when it entered service. NASA has a fleet of 32 of these.
