This just made me cry.

I know Dr Mercola isn't considered the best source by some people.

But there is not much arguing with video.

I cried for real

This video was produced by the non-profit organization Animals' Angels, an internationally active non-profit organization based in Germany, whose mission is to end the abuse of livestock animals and improve the conditions at auctions.

a little description that came with the youtube vid

The disgusting treatment of dairy cows and their calves! Dairy cows are the hardest worked farm animals. and mothers. The only reason they produce milk is to feed their calves... but we steal their milk and deprive their calves of the love and affection, security that is their right as living, breathing creatures. They suffer abuse, neglect, illness. Separated from all the calves they give birth to. Dairy cows living in a happy healthy environment can live for up to 25 years. But because of their hard lives, they are worn out by 4 or 5 years old. They will be sent to slaughter, where many cannot even stand up anymore. They are filled with fear, as they smell the blood of others who have had their throats cut, and struggle to escape when they hear the cries of the other cows. An absolute gruelling life and gruelling death, all inhumane and cruel. Cows are sensitive, and are sentient creatures, they deserve respect and compassion.

I'm seriously appaled.

Call me soft-hearted, call me a hypocrite.

But i didn't know this.

One of the reasons why I get my milk from the farmer's market. I know where it's made, I drive by the cows whenever I head south. They're happy, and healthy --- at least compared to this very sad video.

Animal abuse is disgusting all around.

And this is coming from someone who really enjoys a good steak.

Well, it still serves its purpose(though inhumane I agree) its food, and ya know what? It tastes GREAT! Does a lion care HOW its prey died or suffered? Again, not agreeing its humane, but not gonna make me stop drinking milk. Not even when I learned that milk was a mixture of puss, blood, and sweat, did I quit drinking milk. Like Andrew Zimmerman says, "if it looks good, eat it"

I did not watch the video, increasingly we are abusing our food sources, this is going to make us sick, if it isn't already. The animals that provide milk for the producer where I live are treated well, however a company that will be milking 300 cows/day is moving in here. We are not a very nice species. I quit drinking it a while back because of all the hormones and antibiotics.

I haven't consumed milk for probably 20 years. I can't stand it, it isn't natural to drink. Every other mammal weans off of it - except humans. Not natural.

I think a nice Ice Cold glass of Half and Half is in order, do I smell cookies baking, yummmmmm!!!

I was going to have green beans with my Chicken Breast, do you think the garden will get pissed if I grab salad fixings too....

Pear orchards in Medford Oregon are being tilled up after 60 years, they deplete the soil.

We are so bad on the planet, when will the Happening take place so I can get under ground

now about that cold glass of Milk

Regardless if you drink milk or not, most of you do eat dairy products i.e. cheese, yogurt. So you're not exempt if you don't drink milk.

It's sad the way animals are treated and I wish things were different. Most farmers are under pressure to have to produce enough product in a short amount of time. With the ever increasing population and consumption of animal products I fear things will only get worse. Dairy farms, chicken farms, and such should be policed more and even more strict guidelines should be set. The USDA does not have yours or the animals best interest in mind. It's about money and the kick backs they get from the farmers to overlook bad practices.

how often would the animals bread in the wild?
I dont think Tree Hugging the issue is the answer.

More like Problem-Reaction-Solution to me....Oh where have I heard this before?

I drink it daily, glasses and glasses full, nothing will stop me from consuming it. sorry.
I feel for the animals, but not enough to stop consumption.

In several states and moving forward to be every state, they are /have made it punishable by law to take video of factory farms... THAT pisses me off and just enrages me. We are being set up here BIG time and people are allowing this to happen at the expense of animals.

This is beyond cruelty.

Now, the US becomes the Horse SLAUGHTer capitol of the world, which only means more inhumane acts of extreme violence.

I dont want to watch that,i just know its gonna be awful.Lately ive been feeling bad about occasionally eating red meat (we dont have it more than once a week ) Saw a video on here about a week ago, there was a cow in the still of the video, just standing there looking with seeming interest at what was going on,that image stayed with me for some reason-i do believe cows and other livestock was put on Earth for us to eat- but that does'nt mean i don't feel bad about it,though.

As for milk,i hate it,i try not to look when my husband and kids have it over their cereal,or drink it-makes me want to just gag, there's something repulsive about it.There's many other ways to get calcium into one's body.

Yes but humans are supposed to be - you know - a higher species?
Apart from which you can't compare a lion going in for an instant kill (or a human for that matter) with protracted factory farming and a death that is also protracted. My family used to live near a slaughterhouse and once had an escaped cow in their garden. The poor thing was crazed after smelling the blood and the fear. Horrible.

Poor cows. I do love my chocolate and strawberry, vanilla and banana flavored milk SO much - but I get mine from the dairy farmers who care for their cows as if they were sentient beings - which they are. Seeing what this amish looking idiot in the vid did was just appaling to no description. Actually I can describe it but I'd get banned off ATS and nah. Not worth it.

Adding, it struck me hard seeing those cars driving by on the road not far from the cow farm and I was thinking to myself, "They have no idea what's going on.... at all....."

No doubt at least one had some chocolate milk in their drink holder too.
