He who wants to know and is high enough in the chain of command will always find a way. In fact the internet evolved from a darpa project, as most things do. Taking basic common sense measures ensures you are secure from most threats.

As a rule of thumb I don't think they care about what individuals have to share unless it is a direct threat to their existance. They care about what the majority think and want to do. That is why information control is so vital in our demonic existance.

Never assume anything is guaranteed and treat people on the internet with the same respect you would in person!

For all you know you gave them your info the first day.

More likely your facebook account already gave them all they need
I thought it amusing that FB asks for your email password to add your friends... but hey they promise not to keep it

Linked social networks are indeed somewhat of a threat if you are naive. Either watch what you say or better yet avoid them. Unfortunately to even post replies to yahoo you are required to register with facebook first. It just strengthens my suspicion that such places where designed for data mining from the beginning. Sure the nsa can dig up anything, but volunteering information is easier.

Or how about youtube strongely coercing people to share their phone number for security reasons. If that is not privacy intrusion then I don't know what is. Sure you can opt out if you have a microscope available to read the fine print though.

Mods are contracted by the gov. and arent allowed to tell you, and yes, they operate out of a fusion center, and tag your device to try and spy on you through your webcam, phone, etc.

I did not know that.

When ever someone asks for my phone number or password... I automatically stop and hunt the fine print

Unfortunately many people just click away mindlessly then have to email friends to apologized for their stupidity. My email is one I use as a catch all for everything with really good crap filters so I don't really care who gets that

The FBI, CIA, NSA aren't interested enough in me to care what I put on this site. And, they probably aren't interested enough in you, either.

If you're just going about your normal every day lawful business, I would hope that the NSA would have better things to do than worry about what I say on here.

Of course, once I flag this post with keywords on Al Quaeda, The White House, Nuclear Bomb Threats, President Obama, Michelle Obama, John Boehner, and Mitt Romney, that should be enough to get their word flagging software going nuts.

NSA, enjoy my posts.

OT suggestion. You might consider a more secure approach to email for you and your colleagues than that.

It's counterproductive intelligence wise as the information can be acquired without the moderators knowing. You are VASTLY underestimating the level of surveillance you are currently under and the capability of the federal intelligence groups that monitor us.

Nope, not a mod and don't want to be one ever. Just think they should address the shortness of your own text in your OP. All kinds of ways you could have given more text to the subject to provide meat for discussion. Just as well I guess.

Explanation: Flagged! [well pointed question IMO
]

OL has posted a method that gets around TPTB security net ... because revealing such legal actions may incur the wrath of the courts etc

It is a completely legal method and I quote myself [ATS] ...

Explanation:

For all our own safety, since the advent of SOPA/PIPA/ACTA bills etc., OL would like to respectfully ask that ATS get itself a ...

Warrant Canary [wiki]

A warrant canary is a method used by an Internet service provider to inform their customers that the provider has not been served with a secret government subpoena. Such subpoenas, including those covered under the USA Patriot Act, provide criminal penalties for revealing the warrant to a third party, such as the customers. A warrant canary may be posted by the provider to inform customers of dates that they haven't been served a secret subpoena. If the canary has not been updated in the time period specified by the host, customers are to assume that they have been served with such a subpoena. Theoretically, this allows the provider to inform customers of subpoenas without violating any laws.

Personal Disclosure: Because the Surfing Bird is definately the Word when it comes to Safety!

Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow

Personal Disclosure: I got very little feedback on that suggestion and it appears that it is more hassle than can be managed for by the
at this current junction in time and space

Also ... just to be technical about this ... T&C's [ATS]

22a) Disclosure: TAN also reserves the right to disclose any known personal information when required by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to conform to the law or comply with a legal process served on TAN, protect and defend the rights or property of the TAN domains, or visitors to these domains, identify persons who may be violating the law, the legal notice, or the rights of third parties, and cooperate with the investigations of purported unlawful activities.

So aside from what Springer specifically expressed at both a personal and business level [OL hopes this comment will be well recieved ok
] .. the ATS T&C's go into further detail and they provide the solution and that is ... don't post your own personal information on ATS unless you are prepared for the worst [I have and I am] because the entire website is more important than any single individual member.

I hope this helps.

P.S. To TPTB ... these are not the members you are looking for (waves hand jedi stylez
) :shk:

You want a STRAIGHT ANSWER? I will give you a straight answer. Any person who is a possible threat to the Security of the United States and it's Allies....and EVERYTHING ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB is monitered by one of the most ambitious and thorough systems ever devised run by the NSA....and this person was FLAGGED by this system...and there are different levels of Flagging as it is Highly Unlikely but not 100% impossible...that some MORON TERRORIST....would have a plan to do harm to people somewhere in the World...but feel the need to come on a web site such as ATS and BRAG ABOUT IT....they would be FLAGGED and put under watch.

The problem is...there are MILLIONS of NUT JOBS like that who may or maynot be serious...still...the NSA's Super Computing DATA COLLECTION has to narrow down the huge numbers of a FAKE or a possible. The system is designed to cross match everything from the way someone types or how fast they type or even pause to choose words...all the way to location and who and where...etc.

Factored in is the style of the way posts are worded as even a known Teacher of Terrorists will be able to be seen in the style of how the person uses specific vocabulary or even if they use English spelling from a person taught English from Pakistan as apposed to England or Saudi Arabia.

Nothing is left to chance. Split Infinity

Very interesting. Would you mind posting some proof of this system and how it works? Its not that i dont believe you, i'm just curious. I had a feeling it was that sensitive of a process.

"All that being said, we are very clear in our Terms and Conditions of use that we WILL turn over the basically useless three pieces of information we have if ordered by a court to do it. We have to, that's why we ask for and keep only the info necessary for your account to function (registration IP, email address, and user name). That's the ONLY way any piece of information on ANY member ever gets beyond us, we value our member's privacy above all, we never have and never will share our user data with ANYONE without an executed court order."

A question was asked...I provided an answer the best I could. I even provided a line of words where people could look up how DATA is collected and analized. The NSA has the worlds most comprehensive computerised system of Data collection and cross referencing. It is so vast that it can pick up all computer activity, cell phone data, fax, E-Mail, other countries Military encripted communications...you name it.

This is a Multi-Billion Dollar program and is easy to reference right on the web. Split Infinity

I agree with others in that this is a highly controvertial program...and it has a great ability for misuse...but with the asymetrical warfare being waged...it is needed. But it is like the ultimate Big Brother System.
