Stop the hate, humans!

For the love of all that is Holy,

Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikkhs, Atheists, Agnostics, UFOlogists, New Agers, Scientologists and Flying spaghetti monsters:

Let's stop the name calling and the threats.

Let's debate with tact and peace and level heads.

I am guilty of losing my cool and going off occasionally, as are we all. I apologize for any inappopriate words I have ever said to anyone here, and may you and God forgive me for any and all transgressions I may or may not have commited against thee.

Let us deny ignorance, but deny it peaceably.

Please do thorough research before starting threads, because many of the hateful or trolling type threads here (you know the ones i'm talking about, the ones that are just bashing God, and not just the Christian god, but any conception of God) or threads that are JUST about knocking peoples beliefs, and badmouthing people.

You do realize you're on the Internet, right? And why do I have to remain optimistic? What does that mean? All I'm saying is that you're creating a thread that's is relation to two other existing threads, two threads of which you have and will continue to post in. And funny enough, the first thread that started all this "hate" was by your fellow Jesus Fan. So what's the point of this thread? What discussion does this bring?

And you don't want pessimism or negativity IN this thread, not on it, Lulz. But again, this is the internet, although you're in luck because ATS Mods do a fine job of curbing hate, trolling, nonsense, so on and so forth.

well its nice to hear a positive religious post instead of one trying to convert me!
i respect any ones belief,but is when your trying to force it on me,or telling me that im going to hell because i dont follow your god because your god is the best.!
i like discussing religion,not arguing about it,and thats what seem to be happening here lately.

That's the thing: you don't love him. I've said it before and I will say it again, the behavior you are displaying is self righteous.

I don't know who you're attempting to fool -- maybe yourself -- but you are being hypocritical and dodgy when faced with opposing force.

Skeptic, can you find it in your heart to forgive another living, breathing, caring human being who feels the same emotions as you, and to put any past negative emotions regarding me behind you?

I am willing to do it for you, and anyone on this site, and anyone in my life, and it is one of my daily spiritual practicies, to forgive people

I love you skeptic, I dont care if you believe it or not

I will pray for you skeptic, i dont care if you want me to or not

God loves you, and he wants you to love Him back, but he will not force you, neither will i or anyone else in our great country for that matter.

Being agnostic I kinda feel like I'm NOT loved or allowed here... I don't believe in the concept of God as someONE who is gonna save me. Actually, I really wish people would get over being self righteous about "God" and "Jesus" saving everyone.

Try this: God will NOT do for you what you are not willing to do for yourself. Spread that word. Please. Help people understand that in order for their "God" to help them, they must first help themselves. They must first FORGIVE themselves and quit trying to convert others out of their own guilt. God won't forgive YOU until YOU FORGIVE YOURSELF.

In a recent thread asking for people's personal 'revelation' or 'conversion' stories, combined with currently nearing the end of the book I've been pimping recently (Wm James), and my professional experience and education and PERSONAL journey....
it seems the basic pattern is this:

People generally have these 'come-to-Jesus' (to use the well-known slang term) moments when they are faced with a major crisis.

*Near death (such as your own story, as well as those who have crossed over and then come back)

*Overwhelming self-judgment and remorse and a desperate need to find forgiveness outside of themselves, not trusting that other humans can actually forgive them, (they know who they are)

*Jail or criminal conviction (happens a lot)

*Death of a loved one (the latest episode in my own lengthy journey)

*Feeling/knowing they have been contacted by an ethereal source (another part of my journey)

*Terror of the idea of mortality

*Terror of the 'hell' they are told is waiting for them

*Failure to find passion within about dogma provided from without by other men

*Perfection not realized....

Everyone has their own life and journey. We all want hope. We all need acceptance and validation. If it is lacking in our mundane lives/relationships, we continue to look for it in the ethereal and mysterious (miraculous if you like).

It is a personal moment...I have had several. The folks who talk about being embraced while praying and suffering...I have had that happen to me, very recently...while mourning my father's death...an intolerable pain, like waves of glass shards at tsunami strength...and then looking to skyward, seeing leaves and sunshine, and hearing birds, feeling the arms of someone or some force unseen but unmistakenly experienced as real....

but everyone has to get to that point on their own. In my opinion.
The best we can do is reassure one another that we are valid, that we do matter, and make a difference, and that we are not utter failures in every way, and that our humanity does not condemn us. It is our teacher, our classroom, our helper.

Music is one of the most spiritual and real evidences for our Divinity, in my opinion. A symphony, a pop song, a love song a broken-heart song, a rousing march, a hymn that gives on shivers. Music is one of the most profound ways in which our physical bodies experience the Divine.

You've made another good point.

Direct Divine intervention usually only happens in moments of crisis:

The times I've encountered the Being personally, I was in distress and knocking on deaths door (more than once)

People asking for signs or proof from God and his existence, or miracles or divine intervention, while they are lounging in there comfy home hanging out bored, will not get them.....

God intervenes when people need Him to (when there near death, in an accident, in court, in jail, in a hospital, etc, etc)

Sorry, I have to call death cults what they are, where they worship a class of people as superior and have a right to kill the inhabitants of the land that they want to have for themselves, to show the world that they are in fact superior in all ways to the "cattle".
