1980's -- Louisville, Ky Standiford Field or Bowman Field UFO siting (Was live on WAVE 3 news)

I remember as a kid, watching cartoons in the early 1980's.. around 3-4pm, and WAVE 3 news broke in, and was live with a weird 'metallic object hovering over airport'.. I THINK it was bowman field in Louisville.. Standiford Field is larger, and I don't think it was Standiford... but I've looked EVERYWHERE for info on the siting, and it seems not one person recalls this???

It was very strange, and the first time I ever saw a live shot of a UFO.. I don't remember if they found out what it was, or if it went away or what.

I am here to ask if any Kentuckians remember this? (WHAS 11 and WLKY 32 also covered this I believe).

I have never heard of this case. I searched all over as you did and found nothing. I searched Mufon and checked the database and these are the only cases I could find that they covered. I'm sure if it had made the new's they would have investigated it and logged the event.

Clarksville, KY, US 15793 2009-03-02 2008-12-20 Shiny disc in southern sky. 3 fighter jet contrails heading into it from different directions. Bronston, KY, US 15061 2009-01-22 2002-01-05 Me and 4 other people were driving down freeway and drove beside it. Louisville, KY, US

Maybe check the TV station files and see if they still have video of the report.That's all I can think of.

Any idea exactly what year it was? Or even what season of the year it was? Might help in the search.

I've just emailed the WAVE 3 news director ([email protected]) with the following. 'I was just wondering do you have video archives of reports going back to the early 1980's? If so are they available online or in a searchable database?'

I'll post his reply if and when it arrives.

Awesome! I hope they have something! I know it was during the daytime.. a bit after noon.. or mid afternoon. I know it was in the early 1980's for sure. It was probably bowman field too..

Can you remember any more details? Like approx time of the year? or even other news stories you saw at the same time? Or if you spoke with any friends/relatives about it at the time? Anything else that might narrow it down a bit.
