Yes, this warning and thread is real, when the other almost daily threads warning of Armageddon for the last five years have all been wrong - but this one is real!

Several places on Earth are expected to have a warm summer and a drought, but this will not affect the entire planet as suggested.

You are right about the Mayan calender, but you are wrong about the global warming thing. You are just offering an explanation based on your own experience in your own part of the world. Here in Australia our last winter was inordinately cold and the summer we just experienced was hardly a summer at all, we had a few really hot days but no where near as many as we usually get. So while it may be getting hotter in some parts of the world, it's getting colder in other parts of the world. So I'm not really too worried about, the changes are not overly worrying and will probably even themselves out. In my opinion something inexplicably significant will happen on the 21st of December this year, not a gradual global change.

The fact that you equate the Galactic Plane with the Galactic Equator shows you have no idea what you are talking about. The Galactic Equator is pretty much the ecliptic for the galaxy. It is an arbitrary line drawn from the center of the galaxy to the Sun. On December 21, 2012 the Earth will align with the Galactic Equator. This happens every year and for the past few decades has been occurring on December 21st. Thanks to the wobble of the Earth the alignment will soon occur on December 22nd.

The Galactic Plane is the plane on which the majority of the galaxy's mass lies. As the solar system orbits around the center of the galaxy it oscillates up and down away from this plane. Every 15-20 million years the solar system will reach the apex of its oscillation and begin returning to the Galactic Plane. It will then take another 15-20 million years before the solar system reaches the edge of the Galactic Plane. We were last on the Galactic Plane 3 million years ago. So we will not be on the Galactic Plane this year.

Of course all of this is moot as the Maya had nothing to say about 2012. Furthermore the Long Count is not an astronomical calendar. It is merely a count of days as the name implies. Its function was to allow the Maya to refer to dates that fell outside the 52 year Calendar Round cycle.

During my 'Mayan Period", the 70's, I visited Copan, Tikal, Palenque, Uxmal, Chichen Itza and many lesser sites along with the University museum in Philadelphia and Peabody Museum at Harvard and read extensively. Am I an expert on the Mayans? NO! Were they an admirable highly advanced civilization? YES! The key word here being WERE. Considering their advanced knowledge and society, why are they STILL not an advanced civilization? The usual reasons offered are that the Spaniards had horses, brought new diseases and Jesuit brutality. Those IMHO would have been but minor speed bumps for a civilization whose knowledge included the alleged future crossing of a 'galactic plane'.

It's skunk works, basically a free for all of ideas. This, like many others could have been a really cool and interesting thread if we could just let the OP freely express himself.

I am starting to think the OP is right about disinfomation agents. Whenever a good and interesting idea is brought forth for discussion a whole slew of the same old group of people come in and ruin it.

Hay, why build bunkers if the Earth is hollow and the residents of Agartha could house at least some of us, and at a lot less of a carbon footprint as it would take othewise? I gott'a wonder.... how many people will be caught up in your revelation, and will do something life changing. Well my friend, I'm gonn'a go on as I always have, a gentile soul, trying to do as much good in my everyday life as I always have, confident in my 'Creators" wisdom for my life events. As I choose to ignore any impending catastrophes yet to come, as mankind either deserved them, or should have.

As for the unaware, it will take them quickly enough, though towards the end it might be a bit smelly all around as the bodies decay, never the less, it will all lead to something immeasureabley more beautiful, and something without the hinderances of the Mayans or mankind. I say you are right, but only when there were no other side to the coin! you have to consider that you just introduced the bad /negative side, however on the bright side we are not alone in this matter. Galactic brotherhood IS real, tyey are here and they are doing a lot of work to help us. We have other
potential future manifestations in the basket, like moving to 4D and so on. Maybe you will get what you expect to come and i will get what i expect to come.

The fact of the matter is... ANYONE or ANYTHING that says, "The world will end" people will oppose the idea in MASS quite frantically.

Aliens? Same thing.

Why? Because we don't want it to happen. Can it happen? Yes it can.

First of all there is always the possibility that ancient predictions are true, however remaining mayans have posted videos saying that 2012 is not the end of the world, but when our space brothers return. There is the belief that the stories in religious texts about the devil being chained under the earth for a thousand years could happen based on the fact that greed and war mongering people are building massive underground bunkers, but to that end its the evil people on earth that will be buried in these bunkers, and remember there is evil among all races , saying that its is the evil white race that will be the only people in these bunkers is an extremely racist statement,I take offense to that statement being that I am white and not am evil person. Next the hopi prophecies say that those who live in e great spirit of life should not fear should not fear these events. What this says to me is that good riotous people should not worry about these events because it will be the good people of this earth that will survive and prevail in this global change, which means I personally should not fear these events as I know WHO I AM. There are so many possible interpretations of these ancient texts, that the only thing we as humans should be doing is to live a good and honorable life as I have worked hard to do, which I believe is the real message because we all know shi++y actions and behavior will come back to bite you in the a$$. But to live a good and honorable life enduring the hardships that befall you no matter how difficult and painful they can be and believe me they are difficult and painfull.

People really need to get over the duality of "believe in or not belive in"... All there is is information, there is no need to believe in anything. Anyone who wants you to believe in anything is an idiot at best, and a manipulative psychopath at worst...
