Hello ATS! I'm very nervous posting a thread for the first time! Well I hope it's decent.
I have this picture of my sister when she was like 4 and on the lower right corner there's a faint copy of her. I think it looks very eerie and my mom said there's absolutely NO OTHER PIC LIKE THAT!

Here's the link i402.photobucket.com...

Sorry I'm not sure how to post the actual pic.

Anyone else have a pic like this?

I know my moms boyfriend has a pic like this and he claims that he doesnt have a pic like the other one.

Can anyone explain?

Internal reflections between two panes of glass.

or

Double exposure

or

Screw-up during developing.

Looks to me like the film did not cycle all the way through to the next frame therefore causing a double exposure of sorts. It looks like the picture before or after this one was of her just sitting in the swing. You can actually see the chains straight up and down in the double exposure.

looks like a reflection to me as well.
Although if it is an old film picture and not digital it would be more than likely a double exposure

Yeah after noticing the vertical "ropes" of the swing in the lighter image, I edited my post to include double exposure, as this is the most likely explanation.

Then you added your post with the same conclusion, so I've starred it. Thanks.

Idk, the angle of the reflection-body, like the shoulder and the face, aren't the same as the real person..

They look similar but there are differences, but I don't know how the above mentioned explanations work exactly, or what their outcomes look like from the original target.

Thanks!

so what you guys are saying is that it took two photos one before and then one after? I don't know much about cameras.

And in the faint part in the corner, the background looks like a sliding door and concrete on the ground. Besides the other girl doesn't look like my sister. She resembles her but its an odd version of her...

You beat me to it.
That is most likely the reason

Maybe its double exposure, but that is not the same kid.
Also light source is different, from left to right.
OP is it you?

This is a simple phenomena with the older wind up cameras. It's just a double exposure.

Instead of the frame advancing all the way to it's respective place, it might have had the film advance notches stripped, or not completely wound before the next photograph was taken. And what makes many of these unusual is that they may be of the same person, but shot elsewhere. (For example: one photo shot indoors, one photo shot outdoors, but same person, different surroundings, different clothes).

I have many of these that I personally have shot myself when I was much younger.

There is nothing unusual about this type of scenario and especially nothing paranormal about it..

Sorry, reality bites sometimes.. and all the wishing in the world won't change that fact.

Examples of this phenomena can be seen in the links below as sometimes it's done on purpose, sometimes not:

Double exposure cat

**ETA**

I said above that this was with older wind-up cameras.. there are modern-day cameras that can also do this effect.. sorry, should've included that information up on top.. But for the most part, this phenomena/effect was all pre-photoshop days..!

I'm not sure what kind of camera it was...I just know it was the early 90s.

Well that explains it! Darn I was hoping it was some type of other dimension or a ghost mimicking my sis:/

But thanks for clearing that up and providing examples. Me and my family were wondering for years!

BTW I should edit that that doesnt look too much like my sister...and it's not me.

It certainly looks like a double exposure effect.

You say it is an odd version of her........but could it simply be that there was a significant time gap between the 2 photos, so the image in the corner is a younger image of your sister?

I don't think so. She seems to be wearing the same thing in both photos.

The whole double exposure is cleared up...but I just wonder why she looks different.

I think you should leave it be.. this makes for a wonderful thread for those that might have similar photos and now with this thread in our system, they'll be able to use this as a reference thread..

My vote is to leave it be.. And thanks for posting up what has become a great learning thread for us all..!

Well just a guess but it could be a favourite top or something, taken on a different day.
Perhaps she just had her haired washed so her hair looks different?

"Older wind up cameras!"

I still use my trusty 35mm SLR!

I have just brought a new compact digital..........and it eats up battery juice like there's no tomorrow!

At least I never have that problem with my 25 year + Minolta "wind up" camera!

Sounds like human error from the printers.......they loaded the negatives the wrong way........hence everything is backward.
I had a few single prints wrongly printed once and the object which was supposed to be on the left hand side appeared on the right hand side you can tell if you look at the negative.......I can happen but nothing spooky!
