One of the sad thing about the loss of such small coins is that i have a jar half full of foreign coins and quite a few i got from the company my dad used to work at and as they sent stuff to other countries they'd pop in a few pennies then when others sent stuff to us they popped in a few coins and the staff knew i collected the coins and always gave them to my dad to give to me, even had a few dollar/quarters etc sent over as well

Man, i must have tens of thousands of pennies in boxes at home.

How long do i have to cash these puppies in?

After they drop the legal currency status of a coin, they can be sold for copper. Lots of them probably are worth twice the value of a penny while others may be worth half a cent. You can't lose saving them actually even though Canada's economy is pretty stable.
