Random killers are prevalent because they get free room and board for the rest of their life. Obviously they're not worried about being some guys' prison britch because these dumbed humans get off on any drama or event in their lives, the more horrific, the more exciting to them just like their senseless crimes and preying on the weak, the epitome of unreal (hu)MEN.

If society were to show:how hard you have to slave/work in PRISON like 20hrs a day hard labor, then less people would go out and commit crime - and less innocent people would pass as guilty, too.

As I noted...Do you want to imagine some non-violent offender sharing cell space with this animal?

Then don't put him in a prison where there are low risk non violent offenders. Keep him in a prison cell all day, no activities, no yard time, no human contact.

I do agree with one of the other posters though, we should have forced labor for rapist and murderers.

Given his depth of depravity and total lack of human qualities in the crime he committed, I suggest he's as much a menace and threat to the PRISON population as he is to the population outside it. Hence...removal from the world is fitting, IMO.

I respect your opinion, but IMO prison is not supposed to be a safe place inside. I'm not saying violence should be tolerated, but it should be expected.

It has nothing to do with blood lust, either. If my beloved dogs were to mix it up with a critter and get rabies...it would tear my heart out but I'd put them down by my own hand. I'd owe them that much for all the love they've given me. In the case of this OTHER animal in the threat, it's the same need without the love. He's a rabid animal, demonstrated by his acts, and there just isn't a cure for being rabid. Putting him DOWN is the only solution after this.

Despite the actions of this man, he is still a human being...not an animal. He has the ability to reflect on his actions, and repent in eyes of his God and the people he has harmed. Humans unlike animals can change, and that is why the death penalty to me is immoral. Human beings are transcendental, we can rewrite our own programming...

David Berkowitz

David Berkowitz (the Son of Sam killer) committed some extremely heinous crimes. But he like other criminals experienced something that the majority of people do...guilt. He transformed his life while in prison and found God, he wrote a letter to the Governor of the state he is imprisoned in and requested to be left in prison for life. He helps in anyway he can the victims of serial killers and to stop serial killers from profiting from their crimes when they write books or make art while in prison.

This man changed, like many many other like him. Does he deserve to remain in prison his whole life...yes.

The death penalty is about revenge and we call it justice. When IMHO all it does it continue to propagate the meme that killing is the best way to solve a problem, this is why this is one of the most violent countries on the planet. Because our populace gets off on violence, death, and morbid voyeurism. We are slowly polluting ourselves with cynicism and a perverted idea of justice.

Here we go again. Why is the Daily Fail UK so obsessed with picking up overseas stories of this nature?
Don't we have enough home grown tragedies of our own that they have to go raking over other countries criminality?

Honestly I think the prison system needs revamping in just one minor way: criminals who commit dire crimes should be subject to complete isolation and lack of any stimulus for extended periods of time. 99.9% of people, as you rightly claim, are addicted to and get off on drama. They love it. They cant get enough.

But put them into a cell by themselves, with ONLY themselves and their corrupted, blackened and wicked hearts to keep them company, they will pray for death in a matter of hours. Insanity would follow as the person is consumed by the memories of their own evil, manifesting in visions on the blank white walls of the never-changing prison their deeds put them in.

Take the meanest, most violent criminals who fear no man, and place them into solitary indefinitely, and they will wish they were never born, and weep at the hell they have placed themselves into.

Petty crimes of course deserve petty sentences (not the above). Dire crimes (rape, murder, treason) require dire sentences (the above).

Of course this would require a justice system that was actually objective and just to prevent any wrongful convictions.

Heavy crime would plummet. Guaranteed.

We have had some horrific crimes like this in Australia too. Nothing is done. People forget. Life goes on. It is sad. But, this is the life we are living in now. Do I want to get off? Yes. Anyone know where I can get a free ticket to another planet? Seriously, this guy should be thrown in jail forever. And never allowed to see any members of his family - ever. Maybe we need to set up a separate island and construct a jail there - way away from the mainland.

Crimes like this have gone on for too long. One is too many. How many more people will have to die before the authorities do something?

We won't put up with murderous scum anymore.

Just reading this now... I like that idea.

Brutal murderers deserve brutal reciprocity for their acts.

This is the absolute worst news story that I have ever read in my entire life.

I'm going to have to go to some extreme measures to try to forget about this. It's too much for my brain to handle at this minute.

and I think I just went crazy.

I can not let myself believe that this story is true and that the scared looking young man in that mug shot photo RAPED and beat an elderly woman to death.

This is too much, something isn't right.

We could do like China...once he is found guilty, shoot him in the back of the head, charge is family for the bullet and the trial.

Strange...I am in OKC, and I haven't heard about this... I would think it would have been on the local news.

Yes. I am from Australia and it worked for us. We were kept away from the mainland. But - in Australia our prisons are now full. We need to look for somewhere else to send our worst criminals - maybe we could send them to U. S or - back to England!

I am absolutely appalled by this. How low can someone go? This story should get at least as much or more attention than the Florida one, although in this case a perpetrator has been charged so it probably won't

Black victims of other blacks and white victims of blacks are way to commonplace to be newsworthy. If George Zimmerman had originally been identified as Hispanic instead of white no one outside of Florida would have ever heard the tale. If Obama had a son there is as much chance he would look like this animal as much as tray on. So come on Barry get on the news tonight and tell us this clown looks like your son too.

"If I had a son, he would look nothing like Tyrone"
Mr. Obama, please make a public statement about this horrific act.
*Note - nobody has been convicted in this case yet*

What kind of person would sexually assault an 85 year woman?
Or attack any elderly person?
Only because the perpetrators knew they are less able to defend themselves.

This makes my blood boil.

Do we still have Americans questioning the need and proper application of the Death Penalty? If so...I direct everyone's mental eye and imagination to the scene as it must have been while this animal was still there and ravaging this couple. This is a man you ever..EVER want to see free again? If you wound up in prison on some small thing..non-violent white collar, lets say...this is the guy you'd want as a bunk mate?

It appears in some research that Oklahoma ranks 3rd behind Texas and Virginia for executions per capita in Death Row cases. If there is justice in the world, the man who did this evil thing will add to that statistic..

I totally agree and would also say that this is exactly the reason every household should be able to have a gun sitting near the door.

We have a right to protect ourselves as human beings born on this planet. No person should have the right to dictate that we can not stand for ourselves. How screwed is that?

And this is what happens when we can't protect ourselves.

If that piece of crap knew there was a gun sitting at the door, at every door on the block...would he enter? He would probably think a lot more than once before doing so.

Peace

So most here like me think No Escape (1994) movie was a good idea. much like Papillon (1973) movie.

Human Rights are to blame for most of these criminals

I'm selecting that quote specifically because the points that come after we just disagree on so strongly, argument is all that is left, not debate.
I feel that when someone takes the life of another outside of legal necessity or war, their own life SHOULD, normally, be forfeit. Exceptions exist...which is the only reason I'm even that flexible in how I say it.

Having said that.... On the first part and the quite, I'll say we probably agree in many areas on this. My own attitude about the Death Penalty would be a bit different if, perhaps, your suggestion were a viable one in the U.S. I'll ALWAYS support the Death Penalty and people like this thread is about are why that support will never falter in principle. How WIDELY it's used for what crimes..now that is where your suggestion would change things.

IF we had a 3 tier system, it might work.

* Tier 1 for the non-violent first timers where rehab is 100% the focus and it's still worth trying. Both kids and Adults ought to have a level 1 to go into when violence wasn't involved and a history of criminal activity doesn't exist.

* Tier 2 for the vast majority of our Prison population that is criminal, no question...but not cold predators or animals. They screwed up..or spent real time going down the wrong path..but WILL get out some day, and so need treated with that fact in mind, if nothing else.

* Tier 3 for the Animals. The TRUE Human predators, sociopaths and outright psychopaths. Serial Killers...Cop Killers..Child Molesters (I don't support anything short of LWOP on that crime anyway).

Never the three shall cross, overlap or meet. Let alone live among each other in the same cell blocks and on the same yards. It would change the prison system from Criminal College or full blown University to a place with different levels for different people...and noobs in for the first trip don't come out hard, cold and lethal predators.

Failing that... Well. Tier 3 is Death in my mind..and if we can reform this system for what PROOF is required (Much higher bar) for death, I don't see any real issue while looking at the Mutt this thread is about. Not even a small one. In THIS animal's case, proof isn't even a relevent issue. He's good for it...and he should die for it. Just like that very elderly lady did...after he mercilessly raped her.

Animals should be treated like animals, as for this guy I say go drop him off in the middle of the Arctic and let him fend for himself outside of society and see how he does.
