And then right after he throws his foot into the oven so there's no chance of reattaching..... must be some sort of mental problem if you'd go to this length just to avoid going back to work.

How crazy do you have to be to saw your own foot off so you don't have to work anymore? As crazy as that dude is, he could have been found unfit to work based on mental illness alone.

Fortunate that he has free health insurance or this could've ended badly....

1. Specific goal - He's got ya there.
2. Attempt to break the record - Pretty sure this is a record breaker for reasons to not work.
3. Desirous - You'd have to have a pretty strong desire for anything, to cut your own foot off.
4. Exceptional effort, ability - I'm pretty sure it takes quite a bit of effort to cut your own foot off.

All in all, this actual defines ambition.

He saw a goal he wanted to reach, and went a lot farther than most would to achieve said goal.

1 and 4 works fine
he obtained success...successfully didn't go to work...mission accomplished.
and it would certainly require exceptional effort...going through the pain and keep sawing..

I'm guessing he worked at a call center. I've worked those jobs before and had days that I hoped I got into a car collision on the way there just to get the day off.

Is he an idiot? Absolutely

Yeah....right:

1) Specific Goal - to not be able to work and claim disability for the rest of his life
2) Attempt to break the record - no broken record, just a broken leg, nothing special
3) Desirous - No desire, just a mentally ill individual who needs psychotherapy sessions
4) Exceptional effort/ability - No "skill" required to cut your own foot off...but there is exceptional mental incapacity for running one's own life without injury to self and others

I hope he can still work as a telemarketer at least for the House of Power Tools and promote the benefits of using a skill saw hahaha
