3 or 4 rigs are now closed. I am about 200+ miles from all this, know a lad who knows a lad who works on one of the rigs evacuated.

What could go wrong here/ to a stupid person please.

Iam alot closer than you or your old man
So is all my family.. Iam not worried, and no one else has a reason to be worried just now.

Your mate isnt exactly correct. We have begun to down man rigs, but only the Elgin and Viking is actually unmanned.

The 4 rigs are the Elgin Puq, Shearwater, Rowan Viking and a Noble Hans Duel drilling rig. The Franklin and Erskine rigs may be next if the gas keeps expanding.

Been keeping a watch on this as i speak with a lot of these guys on daily basis as a lot of my clients are in the North Sea.

Main thing is they all got off safe.

Update on BBC for you all

www.bbc.co.uk...

ps, Minto is correct, the elgin is powered down and empty, the rest are running on critical staff levels only.

They should just shoot a large firework up. That should get rid of this pesky gas cloud.

Problem solved.

The bigger the cloud is the bigger the explosion. It sounds as if it a dense gas or it would ascend. It also seems like it has some glycol compound or glue to it so it holds together. I wonder how long till they figure this out.

This is just freakin great! First BP poisoned all of the sea food in the gulf of Mexico now the douche bags at Dutch Shell are trying to poison all the sea life in the North Sea and eventually the Atlantic. Isn'[t about time that we gave up on fossil fuel, nuclear power and all of this other dangerous sh$t? These Corporations are raping the planet and every person on it!

I am so thankful for this website, and couldn't agree more with your comments. I live in Newcastle, North East England and have not heard a thing about this until now. 20 minutes till the BBC 10 o'clock news, so going to read up on it all and wait for the news, lets see if they mention it.... coincidentally I am watching the programme before hand 'Horizon: Global Weirding' all about how 'weird' our weather has been recently and how the 'weird' erratic weather is becoming more and more common and disastrous... hmmm. Shall update if anything is said on the news xx

Also like I have posted in this thread (but he has not read it) it happens all the time in nature.
The wind will blow it away, no one will die and at the worst it will explode.
It is gas not oil remember.
