Does your Avatar reflect your current state of mind?

Been curious about this for quite a while on ATS.
Obviously avatars are chosen for a reason. they express a particular state of mind/ethos/personality that the poster wishes to convey, Longstanding posters are recognised immediately by their avatar and their posts accepted as their words. I often wonder if respected posters cruise ATS under pseudonyms for the hell of it.

Maybe Phage (whom I respect highly and am not in any way implying) also posts as hangintitties2012 for example

I doubt that our most *popular* members use multiple accounts, they tend to know the Terms & Conditions and probably don't feel the need to hide out in other accounts.

In a sense, yes, it's an always state of mind.

yes and no. because i don't do "that" anymore ;-)

My avatar and background do represent my current mood. It also represents my personality, although the more artistic, relaxed side which many members on ATS outside the chatroom have little knowledge of. For those not sure what they are looking at, my background is a reddish sun setting on a dark scene and my avatar is a slightly adjusted picture of Jimmy Page (founder of Led Zeppelin) playing the guitar on stage. It represents both my melancholic personality infused with a love of classical rock music.

Thanks nineix thats what I was getting at, whether our avatar often reflect our current state of mind or our aspirational concept of how we would like to be portrayed.

From being a regular here I will often scroll rapidly through threads and will pause at an avatar of a poster whose opinions I respect/admire/enjoy/dislike just to see what their opinion is.
Over the years I have encountered posters whose opinions have influenced me and I respect greatly. and sometimes I encounter posts that remind me of the style or ethos of I posters I like. know that T&C's forbid multiple accounts but as my username says. Humans Eh!

My avatar is very symbolic of myself and does change according to my mood.
You just can't see it through all the darkened shadows.

I think there is something up/out there.

I'd say so. The picture is a photo of yours truly.

The background is from a Zdzislaw Beksinski painting that fits my personality -- dark, eerie, but comical.

Yeah I couldn't remember usernames and passes for multiple accounts if I tried.

Mine is a self portrait of me in my "wanna be self" in a constant state of vision quest.

This is actually my third avatar.

I started with this one:

I thought it was appropriate for this site. I told people it was me posting from my underground bunker. I used it for quite a while.

Then, after being called a curmudgeon a couple times, I found this:

I'm actually kind of proud of the title and still have it on my mini-profile.

Then I came across this by chance one day:

I've always been a fan of "Young Frankenstein" and this shot made me chuckle.

This does actually have some personal meaning.
