Was in this thread earlier and I'm totally of the opinion that Zimmerman is guilty and murdered this kid in cold blood...

I have to say that it is not as clear as day what is said.

It's pretty much the only word in the entire call that is not clear.

Coons, cops, c*nts??

Hard to tell.

While it sounds like Coon.... it's impossible to be 100% so we're really filling in the blanks.

If you have used racist slurs like "coon" without referring to a raccoon or as a discussion example, then yes that is racist.

It was never proven Zimmerman used the word "coon" I listened to the tape myself and could make no such word out so you're reaching there. There are many videos of the 911 call Zimmerman made. On some you can hear a lot of wind. In others you can hear Zimmerman say "[snip] coons"

I can not claim to know the authenticity of the recording. Could be hoax. Could be some Youtube user who edited. It could be legit. It could real. I do not know. However for the sake of argument, people should have both sides before deciding for themselves if they want to believe that Zimmerman called Martin a "coon"

You can hear it clearly at the 1:51 mark in the following video.


Here is another video of the news story which again you can hear Zimmerman say the words at the 4:21 mark.


And another where you can hear it at the 2:24 mark


But then you have videos like this one where the background noise is much louder. This video is a local newscast, when they replay the 911 call, you can not hear Zimmerman say anything.


So there is the evidence for the claim. Decide for yourself what you wish to believe. I personally do not wish to have a discussion on race. I prefer to focus on weather or not Zimmerman had a legal right to shoot.

He very clearly says "Fu##ing PUNKS" to me. The "P" in the beginning of the word is clearly enunciated (as clear as such things can be that is, relatively speaking).

Listen to it again with the word "punks" in your mind and it becomes very clear

I hooked up my good speakers to my comp just to make sure. And, like every other time i have watched it, I hear him say "coon". He may have said something else, but that is what i am hearing.

Come on...admit it, you just hate guns. This is the perfect situation for you to spew your anger and hatred for anyone having the right to have a gun and protect themselves.

The community has the legal right to have a watch program and he has the legal right to carry a gun. It was an unfortunate situation that the young man lost his life, but to condemn someone prior to a legal trial is totally irresponsible on your behalf.

You can't clearly hear a "P" being enunciated? Listen to it again but clear your mind of your premade notions which is why you're hearing the word "Coon" and listen for "PUNK" or "PUNKS"

Self Defense (since you missed it the first time), is using the appropriate level of force to stop an imminent threat.

Also, your example also brings up the issue of property rights. Which is not applicable in the case we are discussing, but I am sure with your amazing understanding of Law, you knew that already
