It will offer an initial look at over 2000 documents or 7000 pages of his work, since 1921. It covers everything from his public to personal life, and of course his research.

Only 900 manuscript images, and an incomplete catalog listing just half of the archive’s contents, had been posted online since 2003. Now, with a grant from the Polonsky Foundation UK, which previously helped digitize Isaac Newton’s papers, all 80,000 items from the Einstein collection have been cataloged and enhanced with cross referencing technology.

The article is rather long, and gives some info regarding Einstein's stance on nazi occupied Germany with some personal correspondence with many people regarding this issue. This is merely an example of the type of things that might be discovered in these documents.

I think its great that these archives are now being made public, so that we can get a glimpse into the live of this genius.

I don't know if I'm interested in the personal lives of scientists. They're a strange bunch.

Oh yes indeed. I heard a similar rumor.

What is exciting though, is that these archives of Einstein, should cast a lot of light on him, his personal life, and his scientific ideals.
