Actually to start a war/conflict with Iran before the elections would be genius! Think about it, who is going to vote in another president while we are at war? The answer to that is no one. It's been shown throughout history.

I actully agree there. In NZ last year we voted International Banker John Key back in to the Bee hive by a huge margin. Our year of earthquakes and rebuilding,( actully nothing much has been rebuilt) in CH CH helped Key.
Christchurch pulled behind Key and National by a landside because people were not prepared to change leadership durring a disaster. I no Earthquakes are not like wars, but people do support a leader that is grandstanding around a disaster. Just my thoughts anyway.

Let's not forget the bankers and government elites that have been jumping ship in droves over the past 3 months.

I'm guessing that the ones jumping ship and resigning, or retiring, don't want to dig into their pockets for another war, and probably aren't comfortable with the possible consequences of another war, so they're getting out now. The ones staying in the game probably have themselves convinced that they will be the clear winners, when that probably won't be the case.

Let's also not forget that the "soon to be decommissioned" USS Enterprise (a nuclear aircraft carrier) is on its way to Iran as we speak and will be arriving there in the next few days. Beware the Ides of March!

I think the bankers and elite are jumping ship because the USS Enterprise is going to be sunk to the bottom of the ocean in order to make Iran look like the perpetrator so that we can justify going to war with them. The fact that Israel approved an attack on Iran on the day before the USS Enterprise left port, that hundreds of elites have "gotten out of the game" in the last 90 days when there is no imminent sign of market instability, that oil prices have been steadily rising, etc..... doesn't paint a pretty picture.

I really think we're going to see a unilateral attack from Israel against Iran, with a retaliation from Iran that will drag the US in because we're their ally. Since the US is getting slack from China and Russia about it, they will likely park the USS Enterprise off the coast, and it will "suddenly" be attacked by Iranian missiles/speedboats and sunk. After all, it is cheaper to sink it and profit from the war that ensues, than it is to dry dock it and take it apart at a cost of $500 million. If the US government can make it appear as though we were just giving support to Israel "in case they needed it", and were attacked while minding our business, the hope from the government would be that they get the support of the people. I honestly think the American people, and the rest of the world, will see right through that BS.

If it happens, then what? We sit back and allow it? Revolt? Protest? Light ourselves on fire? Light someone else on fire?

Either way, things are getting way out of hand. I hope an X90 solar flare comes along and knocks us back to the 1800's. Might not be the best solution, but it's better than what's on the table or anything I've heard anyone else offer. Maybe with a do-over, we can get it right the second time around.

While I understand your feelings and sense of hopelessness, I really hope you aren't depressed to the point of considering suicide.

I think you, like many others, just want things to change and are fearful of things getting worse not better. Not having a clear solution or even a good idea can be discouraging, but it's in the darkest of times that the light of humanity shines brightest.... but it does so on its own time table.

Keep your chin up and maybe join a group that is working towards something better. (besides ATS of course!)

Well then that will be very god for RP as the rest of the candidates are pushing for war. It will be fun seeing the other guys quickly change their view on war when we are in the middle of it.

Nothing will happen until either Obama or Romney decide to attack right after the inauguration.

Me too. I can't handle it anymore. The world is a mess and it seems the lives of most people I know are a mess as well. Mine included. I am floundering with no hope of air. It would be nice to be done already.

The U.S. Army (you know.. the biggest force in the world) is actually demilitarizing.. so I have no idea what these people are even getting worked up about. Mainly the ones getting worked up are the ones riding on the Alex Jones wagon.

Don't take this as being rude because I know very well that writing can be misconstrued.. but what point are you trying to get at? You're facts only solidified what I said. As far as the F22, that is a billion dollar aircraft a pop.. and I highly doubt an entire war will be fought with drones because that just isn't realistic.. practical maybe but not realistic.

Don't get me wrong, I know there will be a conflict between countries but not WW3.. That is just imho.

just posting links for readers to see the facts now if we do get in a war with Iran , how and with what, will we fight with? the F22 being cut was just a question, the AIR force can not fund to expensive air frames one the F22 pledged with faults and bugs, and then the F35, common sense says cut the F22, but hen has the AIR Force ever had common sense?

You are right about the Air Farce.. I just don't see our government getting involved in another drawn out war. I could definently agree with you on the use of drones.. but I think drones cost a lot of money and there is no way congress will allow money towards more defense during these times (i.e. rise of oil prices). Black budget? Sure.. but that's going to have to clear A LOT of red tape. I like to consider myself a realist.. but I have been wrong before.

well here is a thought, 1 billion a day troop war or 100million a day drone war, yea ground troops would still be needed but in a less offensive way, not so much attacking, but holding ground.

Whatever. Every day on here i see a thread about an imminent Isralei strike on Iran, an Iranian strike on the US etc. Its all BS....Nothing is happening or going to happen.
